  1. Sooooo, I'm getting married in Hawaii.....and airfare just dropped....exponentially (did I spell that right?!) Anyhoo, I had a dwiddling guestlist of 17 for the past month. I was happy with the turn-out, honestly. However, this week the price of oil has dropped so much that the cost of a RT between San Diego and Maui went from $750 to $415. In the past week, my sister's whole family has been added to the guest list as well as a few more of my close friends that couldn't afford the trip otherwise. I'm so giddy. Anyhoo, I thought I'd share. I hope this input helps.
  2. Soooooo, my bridal shower was this weekend and I totally enjoyed myself. My MOH planned a "tea" for a group of 10. The pics are adorable.....now if I could only figure out how to download pics smaller than my car into the forum.
  3. I LOVE the brochure you designed!!!! I may have to move to Canada!

The welcome letter just says, "thank you for making the long trip to Maui to share this special time with us" Here's a pic of the pre-wedding that I printed on vellum paper and cut down and pasted to lavender paper.

  6. Oh Sylvia, We are all so sorry to hear the news. You sound very disappointed and angry and you have every right to be. It's true what they say, this may be a blessing in disguise. I was laid off 2 mos after I got engaged and thought it was going to be the end of the world....especially since my FI and I were footing the whole wedding bill. Well, 2 more months passed and I got a new, more fun, and better paying job! It was pretty crappy there for a min. I was getting a little down, but it's the disappointments that make the joyous scenarios so amazing. You and your FI will be closer from these trials and tribulations. Keep your chin up and things will work out. Good luck!
  7. OMG! I thought I was the only one! Well, I totally understand your disappointment, but I feel like this monetary struggle and planning process has actually made my relationship with my FI better. It's us against the world! We've opted for the Ipod in lieu of DJ ($900 saved) I've heard good things about choosing your own playlists. We've simplified the Welcome Bags to paper in lieu of soft-sided coolers ($1050 saved) We've cut back, too. However, I'm giddy looking forward to a beautiful wedding with my family and friends. A little hardship now will make it all worth it in the end.
  8. All of your projects look amazing! I especially love your little bubble baths. Your guests are going to LOVE the bags.

  10. I hope your news is good news tomorrow. Keep us informed.
  11. Guilt is a horrible thing. I should know, my mom gives me some on a daily basis. My mom is disappointed I'm not getting married in a Catholic church. However, I'm starting my new life with the love of my life. He's a surfer and I'm a sun-worshipper. We are a match made in heaven and we're getting married on the sands of Hawaii come hell of high water. My FI and I are footing most of the wedding bill, so having a DW was a major cost-saver. We did pay for my niece's dress (Jr. BM) and her airfare, but otherwise the remainder of the bridal party paid their own way. We communicated our monetary concerns to everyone and everyone has been very understanding....even my mom!
  12. I think the color and cut are very becoming. I'm getting married in 32 days...and I got 3 inches cut off yesterday! You look adorable and will have fun playing with your new hairdo between now and the wedding.

I will arrive Maui on your wedding day. Congratulations, BTW. You only have one more month to go! I'm getting married on Po'olenalena Beach or "Love Beach" and my reception will be at the Five Palms Restaurant on the patio.
  14. I love clear shipping labels from Avery. I don't love my printer %&$*@ eating them! I used them for my tears of joy tissue packets, return address labels for the postcards, and my memory candles. BTW, I love my new all-in-one HP printer!
  15. Hello ladies, I found this forum about a month ago. It's taken me two weeks to read this whole thread, but it was worth every second. I've learned more from this forum in 6 hours than I have from 6 months of surfing the internet this past year. Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful choices for your upcoming nuptuals. I've especially loved all the lists. I have 32 days to go and I'm still looking for a veil online. Wish me luck.
  16. Ohhh....I just saw that you left yesterday. I have no doubt your trip and wedding will be amazing. We are all looking forward to the beautiful pictures. I'm soooo jealous. Congratulations!!!
  17. I am booked to use Shelly with Mariah's Mane. I was referred by my WC. I liked to look of the hair and make-up on her website. She is doing my hair, my niece's (jr BM) and my MOH. We all have very sensitive skin, so we're skipping the make-up.

I have to tendancy to lure bugs from out of nowhere!!! My gf and I traveled to Maui 4 years ago.....she didn't get a single bug-bite....without bug repellant. I choose to be safer rather than sorrier!

My TTD photog changed her prices after setting everything up with her and I had to email her back with the orig pricing when I saw the new pricing (300 difference) for the same thing. Thank goodness for printers with stamp dating on the footer. This saved me. Hiya wedding day mate, Thnx for the info. I appreciate your "footer" advice. I do have all that information saved as PDF files. Hopefully, this will be a useful tool when I finally do get (if I ever do get) ahold of my wedding planner. It's so wierd! Up to the point, Lisa (my WP) has been a wealth of useful information with return calls within 24 hrs. My wedding is creeping up and somehow she's become MIA! {insert scream here}
  21. I was really worried about carrying all of the "bags", decor and accesories. I shipped the centerpiece fixings to my wedding planner. I put most of the welcome bag fixings to my MOH and FG. Happily a 5yo has very little need for carry-ons. Would you consider hitting up an ABC stores on the island for bags to lessen the load
  22. I've been getting a very slow trickle of itineraries for my wedding guests. My FI and I purchased our tickets online back in March (before the price of oil went through the roof). Needless to say, we are locked in for 2 weeks in Hawaii. Here's our tentative itineray. Wednesday - fliying in-checkin to hotel Thursday - FIL and family fly in @ 10am. Lunch shenanigans and checkin to hotels Friday - Get marriage license. Casual Pool Party in lieu of rehearsal dinner. Saturday - wedding day!!! Sunday - may meet wedding guests for food (nothing planned cuz of costs) Monday - check into honeymoon timeshare and hide from lingering wedding guests (except my neice whom I have to take to airport at 9pm) Tuesday - 90% of wedding guests departing HI Thursday - last 10% of guests departing HI Wow, I have a busy November planned!
  23. OMG! This list so comprehensive. You have twice as many items as I have for my Wedding Day Emergency Kit. Thanks for sharing.
  24. Welcome to the forum. I spent quite a bit researching Hawaii to Mexico. My Fiancee is an avid surfer and his only concern was the surf. Happily, I was able to coordinate some quality time on the agenda in between his surf sessions. Hawaii will always be a bit more costly due to the location. It's much more difficult to air ship freight than by land....hence the cost savings. Although Mexico has some VERY luxurious resorts. Buffy, oops, I mean Sarah Michelle Gellar got married there. Good luck and Congratulations!!!
  25. Welcome to the Forum! I'm brand stickin new too. I've been on for ~2 hours and I think I'm gonna explode with all the great ideas!!!
