  1. OMG what a beautiful dress. for the ceremony i would where barefoot sandals and then for the reception i would wear some dainty flip flops, maybe silver or gold depending on your colors. again WOW!! on the dress
  2. Did an ROR bride mention that they had a private catamaran booze cruise on the Sunday after their wedding? I thought I saw that but can't find it now. Anyone remember this
  3. Did anyone bring an ipod or did everyone us CD's? I was gonna do both just to have a backup but I don't think I am going to use the DJ at all. Haven't decided.
  4. I know if you use destinationweddings.com under certain packages for ROR you get a 3 day site visit you just have to pay for the airfare. We are not doing the site visit but using our 3 days to go to the resort early before the wedding.

  6. What is this all about? I have heard several people mention that the beach reception comes with sandfleas. I really wanted to have my reception at the beach (we are having dinner at the Plantation restaurant), but I am not willing to deal with sandfleas. Has anyone had their reception there and what was your experience?
  7. the 2 things regarding this wedding that i am anal about are the pics and the music. everything else i can go with the flow. sooo...i am bringing my own photographer and my own music on ipod with a bose docking station. i have not decided if we will use the dj, but if i don't like the music i will have my ipod. i will be mad if i pay $150p/hr and i don't like the music.
  8. Did anyone get hors d'ouvres for their cocktail hour? What did you get and did you think it was worth it? Do you have to pay to have rum punch or any other bevarage during this time? Thanks.
  9. Thank you for the review. Couples SA was the one place that we loved. We have not booked yet but to hear a great review really helps. We are getting married at ROR and plan on honeymooning there for 6days/5nights. Thanks for the review
  10. Would you have the poolside or Seagrape drinks/ dancing as opposed to the disco and why?
  11. Thanks for offereing. So nice. If you could let me know if there are any bars near the Plantation restaurant where my guests could get free drinks during the private reception (so I don't have to pay the ridiculous fee for open bar when its an AI...little rant) I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much
  12. I am using destinationweddings.com as my TA. While most of their business is with the resorts they also can help you set up an off resort ceremony. Check The Ruins in Ocho Rios. It is beautiful there and you can have your wedding and reception there. Also if you want to have your guests stay at an AI and have your reception somewhere else where you are free to make all the decisions you want, there are several places in Rose Hall where you can do this.
  13. I am getting married at Riu Ocho Rios so I would assume it is similar, but don't quote me on this. You can have a private reception for a fee. You do not have to have dancing in the disco you can do it there and you can have a DJ, steel drum, ipod or whatever for dancing.
  14. The quality of the pictures is very good and you can't beat the price for 3 days of photography. It just depends on what you are looking for. I am also going with Sungold, but one of their associates since Paula and Damian are already booked for my date (too bad). Their pics are great and the price is a little lower. You can have 10hrs split between 2 days for $2200 and you have all rights to the pics. They have packages that cost less money as well, but if you want multiple days that is the price you are looking at.
  15. Sungold Photography. The owners are pretty pricey but you get both of them, but they have associates and they do really good work as well and the prices are a little better. 16. If I have a reception at the resort I would have to have a private reception because of the size of my group. This is at the Plantation restaurant. Has anyone had a reception there and where is it in proximity to other bars or will I have to pay the extra for the "open bar"?
  17. Great review. I am definitely considering having my reception at Evita's. How long did the reggea band play and did you ever wish that you had a DJ to play songs that you were familiar with? What was your menu for Evita's b/c that is an excellent price? Thanks.
  18. I am seriously considering having my reception at Evita's, so thanks for the review. It will be nice to get guests off the resort for a while and have some different food. I was looking at your price for the reception and was wondering what you had on the menu. Those are really good prices for 45 people. Thanks.
  19. I read Desiree's review and am seriously considering having an "off-resort" reception. She made it sound wonderful and I like that I can have what I want, when I want, and have who I want there. Did anyone else do this and if you did where and what was your experience?
  20. I am new to this website. How do I see the reviews?
  21. I booked my ceremony for 2pm not realizing that I could not have dinner until 6:30pm. This really makes me mad b/c I booked as soon as the 2009 dates opened and if I would have known this I would have picked a later time. I picked a package that included a dinner so I feel I should have been told this and given the option to book a later time before someone else did. Well nothing I can do about that now. I have 70+ guests coming to the wedding, it seems the ceremony is going to have to be at 2pm. Even if I have an extended cocktail hour it would have to be 3 hours to reach dinner time. What am I supposed to do during those 3 hours? I figured there would be the hors d'veours and I would do the cake cutting and special dances there. I would also have a steel drum band play. But what should I do for the rest of the time? I was also thinking about forgetting about the dinner reception and having the extended cocktail, but won't the guests be starving by the end of that and want to eat dinner? Any suggestions. Note to those considering ROR book the 4pm ceremony if you want a reception.
