    Hello

Hello and welcome to the forum! This is a great resource. Happy planning!
  10. Welcome to the forum, and best wishes!
  11. After we leave the Blue Cave Castle in Negril, we will head down to the southwest coast of Jamaica to Treasure Beach. We had originally wanted to stay at Jakes, but it was waaay out of our budget. We ended up deciding on Taino Cove, a small, 8-room hotel near Jakes. It looks gorgeous from the pics, and much more reasonable prices. From what I've read, this is the least touristy part of the island, aside from Kingston which is just plain scary. While we're here, we plan to check out the Pelican Bar, Lover's Leap, Appleton Rum Estate, and the river if we can. http://lh6.ggpht.com/chickadee024/SN...JQAktE/TC1.jpg http://lh4.ggpht.com/chickadee024/SN...Gos73M/TC2.jpg http://lh6.ggpht.com/chickadee024/SN...DNmZIo/TC3.jpg
  12. I am almost more excited for the honeymoon than I am the wedding - we're planning to do some pretty cool stuff! After we leave Negril Escape Resort and Spa, we will be staying at the Blue Cave Castle for four nights. We've reserved the penthouse suite with 3 balconies - lot's of nudie sunbathing! We'll probably also throw a party and invite all the guests who decided to stay longer in Jamaica. http://lh4.ggpht.com/chickadee024/SN...xxq1-k/BC1.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/chickadee024/SN...WJigI/BCC2.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/chickadee024/SN...at_RM/BCC3.jpg http://lh3.ggpht.com/chickadee024/SN...Pb764/BCC4.jpg
  13. Alright, after spending hours at a time on this site checking everything out, I've decided to tackle this blog (if I can remember how to get to it!) I'm starting out with pics of my engagement ring. Ben and I got engaged on May 22, 2007. He proposed with a ring that my mother has promised to me. Although I loved the diamond, I wasn't all that crazy about the setting, so we decided to change it. http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...ings/Ring3.jpg http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p.../RingPose8.jpg I'm very happy to be wearing a piece of mom, especially since she's been so sick lately. I love my ring!
  14. I love love love my dress, but I'm feeling a little bit of guilt about it. It's an Essence dress, and it's probably available somewhere else cheaper than what I paid in Indianapolis. My mother and FMIL went dress shopping with me and we all immediately agreed on this dress being 'the one' - my FMIL even cried when I walked out of the room. No doubt about it. My issue comes from the cost - my mother insisted on paying for the dress after I had picked it out. I told her that I had intended to pay for it myself, especially since she is sick. *She has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and it's terrifying* I tried finding it cheaper, but had no luck. This is the only thing I couldn't find on sale, and I'm a little disappointed in my scouting skills. Anywho, here are some pics: http://lh4.ggpht.com/chickadee024/SN...s640/00106.jpg http://lh6.ggpht.com/chickadee024/SN...s640/00108.jpg http://lh6.ggpht.com/chickadee024/SN...s800/00110.jpg http://lh6.ggpht.com/chickadee024/SN...s640/00120.jpg As it turns out, the dress was about 8 inches too long, even with heels, so they're going to have to shrink the design and put it on a smaller piece of fabric. I will post more pics when I get the dress and have it fitted/altered.
  15. Posted 09-26-2008 at 01:42 PM by Ben and I are pretty laid-back people, and it was a pretty easy decision to eschew tradition and get married in Jamaica. Although Jamaica is appealing to most people because of the abundance of all-inclusives, that was not the route I wanted to take. Neither of us like crowds, children, or the common route, which is why we decided to go with the Negril Escape Resort and Spa. We liked the cliffs (too dangerous to bring the kiddies), we liked that it was away from the beach (and subsequent crowds), and we liked that it was a bit more unusual and off the beaten path. Some might say that the resort rooms seem 2-star-ish, but I'm not bothered. I feel that our guests will be there to celebrate with us, and will spend a minimal amount of time in the rooms. I didn't feel pressured like I did with some of the other hotels/resorts to book a certain percentage of the room, and the contact at the resort has been very friendly and prompt. Here are some pics of Negril Escape: http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...ERS1_small.jpg http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...ERS3_small.jpg I love this ceremony site... http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...RSceremony.jpg http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...ion2_small.jpg

  20. I am getting married at the Negril Escape Resort & Spa, and then for the HM we will be staying at the Blue Cave Castle in Negril for 4 nights, then going down to the southwest coast to a place called Taino Cove.
  21. Congratulations! (My birthday is Aug 10 as well, awesome date choice!)
  22. I have booked Stacey for my wedding at Negril Escape in April 2009. Her website pictures look awesome (much better than I think the standard hotel package would be) and her prices are much easier on my budget. I think she has a pretty diverse portfolio for a fairly new photographer, and she is totally on top of her communication. She sends emails out to people with links to pictures whenever she does a wedding, and she's been keeping us all updated on the hurricanes and tropical storms. Also, I didn't have any trouble getting her as my photographer for Negril Escape Resort and Spa, even though they have Multimedia Solutions listed as their chosen photography company on their website. Don totally agreed to letting us bring her in from the outside with no extra fees.
  23. I am having my wedding at Negril Escape in April 2009, with 40-50 guests. I loved the fact that it was on the cliffs, away from the family resorts and the AIs. I wanted a more independent feel. I was a little concerned about the room quality at first, but I doubt my guests will be spending much time in their rooms anyways - they will be partying with me and enjoying Negril. The rooms will just be a place to stash their stuff and lay their heads after a night of drinking....and maybe a little fun. I also wanted a place where I wasn't required to fill a certain percent of rooms. Plus, this seems to be cheaper for the guests, who are already spending a lot of money to make the trip. Since many people are staying beyond the wedding, they are more than free to upgrade to a different hotel/resort of their choice after all the wedding activities. The pictures on their website are great, and the reviews on TripAdvisor have been mostly positive. Don has been very helpful and responsive with my emails and phone calls, and I am so excited for next April!
  24. Yay for April brides!!! Getting married April 18th in Negril. So far, we have: - reserved venue - contract with photographer - made flight and hotel arrangements for wedding & honeymoon - purchased BM dresses - purchased GM shirts - ordered my dress - purchased FI's suit - almost ready to put deposit on AHR venues - purchased OOT bags, bottle openers - sent STDs -tons of research! I know what I'll be getting for the BM gifts and the other contents of the OOT bags, I just need time to order and assemble - developed draft playlist - developed draft guest list for AHR - put together gift registry (spending my evenings now writing thank you notes) Moving right along.....
  25. I registered for china as well. I'm generally non-traditional, but I couldn't resist having pretty dishes for entertaining and for myself whenever I feel like it. I registered for the Noritake Cobalt Blue and Platinum pattern - gorgeous! I say go for it.
