I was thinking of a pink diamond too, but I don't like the colour of those as much. And I saw some genuine pink sapphires that look really cheap and faded and turned me off of those as well. I love the look of the lab-created, and that's what's making me question the whole thing, and the jewellery stores look at me like I'm stupid when I say I don't like diamonds lol It's like they don't even want to bother with me any more. I walk in and say "I'm looking for a replacement engagement ring" and they get all giddy and when I say "But I don't want a diamond" they're almost ushering me out the door. I need to move to a bigger center lol

Well I got some good news today I went to the jewelry store where I saw these two rings and I talked to a sales woman there, and in two weeks their jeweller is coming in and bring a whole stash, including some pink tourmaline (which I never would have thought of, thanks sstotz ). She also told me that she's not 100% sure, but she believes that the lab created stones will not fade as they are the same chemical composition as a genuine stone. Also, if I see any other rings that they carry that have a stone other than the one I want, there's a chance I may be able to make a special order and get a pink sapphire/tourmaline/whatever So I'm pretty excited! I still need to see about created vs. genuine, but at least it's not going to be as hard as I thought it would be The reason why I'm leaning toward created stones is because they're so bright and colourful! I saw two rings today side by side, almost identical style, one with a genuine stone and one with a created stone, and the genuine stone was like it was washed out and kinda dull, but the created stone was just gorgeous! And I saw both rings today, and there's a "gable" underneath the stone (that's what the saleslady called it) so I can't fit a band underneath it, I would have to get a custom-cut band. But the gable made it so pretty and detailed that I fell in love with the created ring even MORE lol Decisions, decisions... I'm definitely going to nab that jeweller on the 24th though and see what options he has and what he thinks about created stones

Well, I had no idea how to answer that, so I went to my best friend Google lol I found this site: Advice Needed: Dual Band Router or not? It explains it pretty well, and the guy (I'm assuming it's a guy) giving the answer sounds like he knows a heck of a lot more than I do lol

I was going to do that originally, I was in the middle of choosing schools and I was contemplating hairdressing and was just going to have a plain band so it didn't get ruined with chemicals (and if it did, I wouldn't care) but now that I'm going to an IT school, I don't need to worry about it getting crushed or drowned in chemicals so I want to wear it. Plus, I like the look of a wedding "set", just one ring looks incomplete. I don't have many options, we have a handful of jewellery stores, and even less jewelers who can make a ring from scratch, and they charge a ridiculous amount because there's no competition to keep their prices low. If I have to go that route I will, but I really like the created ring that I've shown above. I remember hearing that a lab created stone is actually more perfect than a genuine stone, it is virtually flawless, and they have the same chemical composition, so they should be equal in strength and durability, right? They sometimes have different shades and a genuine stone is more rare, hence the price difference. I just don't want something that will fade. I can't find any diamond rings that I like, and I'm not creative enough to create my own, so I chose to go with gemstones instead.

Any Canadian brides???
FutureMrsLewis replied to lolo's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
We're either left out or we just become a blob lol In high school we used to use those little Hilroy exercise books, they're super thin and there's like four in a pack, and it had a mock Canadian map on it and Newfoundland was just a blotch, we used to make fun of them all the time -
I like the genuine ring too, but I think it's going to be a pain in the arse to get a matching band, at least with the created stone I can get two bands to go on either side that match the actual band of the ring without looking totally weird. If I try to put a band next to the genuine ring, it's going to be pushed out because of the stone, leaving a gap between the wedding band and the e-ring band, kwim? But my big question is, if I do go with the created stone, is it going to be durable enough?

*sigh* This has been an ongoing battle for me ever since last year. If you don't want to read the whole story, just skip to the bottom. Two years ago, FI gave me my engagement ring with three pink topaz hearts, it's actually in my signature. I love the ring, I picked it out, but I didn't do my research before hand, and my ring has since faded a fair amount. It was a beautiful fuchsia when we bought it, and now it's more like a medium pink. It's lab created topaz, and I'm told it will only continue to fade over time. The jewelry store where I bought it told me I could come in for cleanings whenever I wanted, so about once every few weeks I was going in to get my ring cleaned, and I found out a year and a half later that their cleaner contains ammonia, which is a big no-no for gemstones, so that was a major reason for the fading of my stones. So, to the point, I've been debating whether or not I wanted another ring. FI and I talked about it last night and I figured he would have been devastated if I said I wanted a different ring, but he understood completely and said that if I want something else, then he'll buy it, I just have to pick it out and do my research this time. So since my ring is fading, and will continue to fade (I can tolerate it at this colour, but if it gets any lighter I won't be able to) and it's difficult to find a band that compliments my ring, I think I'm going to start looking for a new one. Our wedding has been put off for a few years because I'm returning to school and I want to wait until I graduate to get married, so I have a bit of time to look around and choose a new ring (over three years to be exact lol). Now my question is, which stones are the most durable? I still want a pink ring, but is there THAT much difference between a lab-created and a genuine stone? Other than how the stone looks, will it be of a lesser quality? My problem is, not many stores here sell genuine stones, and the genuine rings I have seen are okay, but I like the created rings better. These are the two I'm considering right now: Genuine: Created: (Charm Diamond Centres - Diamonds Make the Perfect Gift, Diamonds are Forever.) I don't care about the price difference, what I care about is how it looks, I'll be wearing it for the rest of my life. But is Sapphire a good choice, or should I go with something different? And if I get the created stones, am I risking having them fade over time? I take great care of them, only washing them in soap and water, and I take them off even washing the dishes, so no chemicals are going to come in contact with them. I just don't want to pick a lab created stone that I like better than a genuine stone and then end up in this same boat.

I'm not from Edmonton, but Sin Jawn's is still a part of Canada, well as long as you ask a Canadian, a lot of North American maps leave out Newfoundland Not the actual geographical maps, but like maps you see in the background of news shows and such -
Guest wearing their wedding dress
FutureMrsLewis replied to heather007's topic in Just venting or funnies
What baffles me is, who the hell wears their wedding dress more than once? I agree that it's sometimes a significant amount of money spent on a dress that you'll only wear once, but even if you decide to have a casual wedding and wear a simple white sun dress, whenever you wear that dress anywhere else, people are going to KNOW it was your wedding gown, no matter how simple or elegant the gown is. So unless you plan on attending a lot of parties after your wedding without any family or friends or your DH, then why say "Well I'll get this, at least I can wear it again"? My brain hurts lol -
Guest wearing their wedding dress
FutureMrsLewis replied to heather007's topic in Just venting or funnies
I can be a bit of a $hit disturber sometimes, so I would send the e-mail about the dress code and put in a big line about no white or anything even close, and if she STILL wore it at the wedding, then while I was saying my thank-yous at the reception/supper, I'd add in "And I'd like to thank everyone for making my day so perfect, and sticking to the dress code. Well, MOST of us anyway" and make her feel like crap lol But that's because, as I said, I'm a $hit disturber lol -

Well since you have bottle invites, put the bottle to good use and smack him over the head with it lol -
I don't know a GREAT amount, but I know a bit. One thing to remember about a router is that the signal broadcasts up and out, so don't put it on the top floor of your house and expect great signals in the basement. Also, they don't like concrete, it's harder for the signal to travel through. If you're getting an "N" router, I'm assuming you have an "N" wireless card in your laptop? If you only have a G card, then it doesn't matter if your router is an N because you can only accept speeds as fast as your wireless card will allow. When setting up your router, PLEASE secure your network. It's a no-brainer for most people, but you would be surprised at the amount of people who don't know that they need a secure network. Put a password on your network, and not a word or passphrase, use something like a jumble of letters and numbers that would take someone a long time (and a lot of patience lol) to crack. And as for the frequency, the higher the frequency, the better the signal. The higher the frequency, the less likely it is to interfere with cordless phones, baby monitors, etc, just like the frequency on your cordless phone I'm not an expert, my opinion is from my own personal experience and working two years selling electronics Like anyone, I am wrong from time to time lol

I voted for the classic... I like the touch, I think it has a lot of cool features, but the question is, do you really NEED them? If you can find a touch at a good price, then go for it, definitely, but the extra $150 will pay for your DS So then you'll have your ipod, with TONS of storage, and a DS, which has LOADS more games, for the price of just the touch Just my two cents worth

Why are you marrying your FH?
FutureMrsLewis replied to BeautifulBridetoBe's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am marrying FI because he takes amazing care of me. If I so much as sniffle, he's there with a tissue and some medicine. And also, just the way he makes me feel. I can be extremely paranoid at times, worrying about someone breaking in or hurting me when we're outside, and he'll just put his arm around me and I feel completely safe and secure. It also doesn't hurt that he's 6'8" and over 300 lbs lol -

We always get our cats some new mice and other toys for Christmas, they keep losing/eating them so we have to buy LOTS lol And we receive things from the cats too, sometimes cards, sometimes gifts, for Christmas, Birthdays, Mothers/Father's day, etc, so you're not alone Danielle, because we're a little weird too lol

Post Pics of Your Holiday Decorations!
FutureMrsLewis replied to ACDCDCAC's topic in Random Thoughts
I FINALLY finished my tree (after searching high and low for some lights! lol) and not only did I get it all decorated, I finally cat-proofed the damn thing! I just had to buy some "indoor cat repellent" and it works wonders, the cats completely ignore the tree as if it didn't exist! Yay! Okay, so now I got that excitement out of my system, I'll share some pics Ignore the blankets over the couch, I have a cat that likes to leave "hairball" presents everywhere, therefore the entire house is hairball proof lol Stockings The one on the end is mine, my mom made it for me a few years ago, and the Winnie the Pooh one she gave me the year before that, and I just kept it. And the pants are for FI lol My (snowless) village. Kinda pathetic, but it's the first year I tried to put one together, so not a terrible attempt (although you can't see half of the houses in this pic, I bought some igloo houses with penguins! And, FI's favorite one. This is a plaque that says "Motorhead, England" on it and the "thing" popping out of the middle is "Snaggletooth", Motorhead's mascot. I couldn't wrap the picture properly because the horns on his head kept poking through (it's 3D) so I just made him burst out of it instead Not too many decorations, we have a small apartment, but it feels pretty cozy I'm pretty proud of my Christmas decorating so far! Now if only I can get the smell of stale water (cat repellent) out of the living room... lol -

Christmas compromise? (Warning: Long!)

We put a friend on notice so that if anything goes down we'll call her and she'll come pick us up And my Dad is going to put up a baby gate at the top of the stairs so the dogs can't get down, and we've got a chance to catch the cats if they escape Plus, my Dad is so mad with my sister and BIL that he's ready to eat them lol So needless to say, he's on my side -
I voted for the XBOX 360 because I'm buying one for FI for Christmas lol Here's what I think of both systems: 360 is much cheaper, you can buy the Arcade (core) version and buy a harddrive later if you feel you need one. If you buy the 40GB model of the PS3, it is NOT backwards compatible. Be careful. PS3 doubles as a blu-ray player, which is very nice 360 can play HD DVD if you buy the player attachment, but those aren't being made anymore (HD DVD I mean) PS3 has some games that the entire family would play. 75% of the games for 360 are rated M. The reason why we chose 360 over PS3 (even though we're BIG Sony supporters) is because the game selection, FI loves shooter games, doesn't care much for anything else. And it's so much cheaper, it's $199.99 for the Arcade version and you can buy the harddrive later, and it's $399.99 for the PS3. Since we are also buying a Wii this year for Christmas, a PS3 couldn't fit in the budget, but an XBOX could And I do agree with whoever said the PS3 looks beautiful, because it definitely does, but it is larger than the other systems, and I swear as soon as you turn it on, every speck of dust in your entire house gets sucked onto it lol
