My FBIL is wearing a tuxedo tshirt for our wedding. His girlfriend is freaking out about it, but we think its hilarious. Pics with him will be keepers for sure.
  2. We put "sand between the toes elegant" on our invites.... we ripped it off from a sample invite we looked at. Thought it sounded kinda cool.
  3. Ive got the 400pm slot at Tropical Bay in April '09. Im considering changing it if possible... not enough time between the ceremony and the reception for pics, drinks.. etc. We'll see though... Plus, every other wedding I've been to there was a huge gap between the ceremony and the reception. I always managed to keep myself entertained (drinking). Go with the flow, your guests might like the delay - they can drink, relax, have a nap, get refreshed... Remember everything is on island time anyway, mon.
  4. Welcome and congrats! Im getting married right next door at Riu Palace Tropical Bay in April '09. We've got exchange privledges with the Riu Negril, so Im sure Ill have lots of pics of it as well! Happy planning!
  5. We started dating December '05, moved in together Februrary '06, got engaged May '08 and getting married April '09! Bout time, Im getting old.
  6. Ooo! I vote for #2. I dont ever wear dresses, but that one I would actually consider wearing again. Very cute!
  7. I did put up an open invite to my co-workers. Knowing full well that not many people would end up going, but everyone has appreciated the invite. There's a few people rounding up a group to come with us. Im an RN in an ICU, I would imagine the work culture/dynamic is a bit different than in an office... although I could be wrong. Hehe do whatever feels right for you and your wedding, right? Isnt that the point?
  8. My best friend, who just happens to be my ex-boyfriend would definately be my Man of Honour at our wedding in April. However, he found out he got into film school in Vancouver....soooo Im having one of my good female friends stand up for me insted. Lots of girls I know have done the Man of Honour thing. It's not 1890 anymore!
  9. I wish we had that problem! We sent invites to 75 people and I'll be surprised if any of FI's friends make it. The only friend of mine that has booked so far is my MOH. FI will probably just have his bro or his Dad stand up with him. Looks like lots of people have mismatched wedding parties. I wouldnt worry about it too much. Do what you want and what makes you guys happy, right?
  10. First off, your Mom needs a high-five for the cake. Good job. I love the brown and blue, especially the parasols. Congrats! Looked beauty!

  12. Smother Me - The Used FI doesnt know that yet, though. Heh.

Our Buck n' Doe is at Thamesford Arena... should be a bit of a gongshow. Looking forward to it! Congrats to you to! Happy Buck n' Doe planning!
  14. What is this tradition you speak of? Heh *no garter/bouquet toss (I may wear a garter, but I dont know why) *Im walking the aisle by myself to an Angels & Airwaves song *no religion *no flower girl/ring bearer *no mother/father son/daughter dances *no veil *we will be staying in the same room *only having MOH and BM *FI will help me dress shop *no gifts *FI and I are getting boozed after the ceremony
  15. I'm in Ingersoll ON, just down the road from you Chicklet! Im originally from London. FI and I are having our Buck n' Doe at the end of February. We arent having an AHR, and the vast majority of our guest list is unable to attend our wedding in Jamaica in April. So we decided that a Buck n' Doe is a good way to have everyone that cant make it, get together and have a good time gambling and drinking!
  16. I have to admit that we ripped off "sand between the toes elegant" from a sample that the invite place showed us. Otherwise we were going with "beach casual" - FI and I aren't very creative... We got them from a little stationary place in London, ON called Primarily Paper.
  17. Im really happy with how they turned out. FI and I are minimalist. We are of the mindset that less = more. Plus Im a bit of a tomboy, so really fancy is not my style. The RSVP cards are basically just a postcard, so that cut down on the cost of reply envelopes and they sit in a little pocket on the back of the invite. Hopefully I can get the pics up properly without too much issue... heh.
  18. I'm getting married in April 2009. We didn't bother with the STD, we ended up sending out our invites with all our travel package info stuffed into the envelope, about a week ago. Our deadline for deposits is September 15, so we made that the RSVP date.
  19. Cost for Double: $1832 7 nights all-inclusive from Toronto Invites sent: 65 Number of guests booked: 10 so far, mostly family. Deadline for booking trip is October 27 Resort name: RIU Palace Tropical Bay in Jamaica. 5 stars.
  20. FI and I decided to flip 1/2 the bill for his BM and my MoH.
  21. I originally wanted to get married in Costa Rica at Paradisus Playa Conchal - but with AI prices around $3000, FI nixed that. Hehe. I would have been happy just eloping and not worrying about other people, but hey, Im not the only one getting married right? We ended up choosing RIU Palace Tropical Bay in Negril, Jamaica. We got a pretty decent group rate. Our guests are paying $1850 + cancellation/medical. FI and I are staying for 2 weeks and our trip is $2700. We'll be flying out of Toronto. Most of my invited guests wont be able to attend and we knew that when we decided to do the DW thing. Its what we want, not what others want! We've booked 10 so far, wedding is in April 2009. Anyone else that books is just a bonus.
  22. Which: RIU Palace Tropical Bay Wedding Date: April 09, 2009 Strongest Competitor: Bahia Principe in DR or Jamaica Deciding factor: 5+stars, still lots to do in Negril, liked the property better
  23. Congrats and thanks for the heads up. Were getting married at Riu Tropical Bay, April 9, 2009. I kinda had my eyes on white calla lillies for both me and my maid of honour!
