News flash! I just received an email from the wedding coordinator at my resort! "The hurricanes gave us a lot of work, but fortunately, everything is back to its place again." So, Varadero region obviously has power and internet back... phew!

you can very easily do up a baked brie! silly easy and so impressive take a wheel of brie, and place it in an oven proof dish, spoon a great quality jarred pesto over the brie and bake it for at least 15-20 min at 350! serve with sliced baguettes! phew! not difficult at all!

Yeh, we usually talk on a regular basis, at a minimum, weekly via email.... but generally via email on an every other day basis. FBIL/BM is away on training for work right now, and usually this is the time where I'll hear a lot from her... b/c she is alone. But that hasn't been the case.

WOW... Ladies, Looking good Holy moley! It has been a while since I checked in with you! I am thrilled to see that we have some new January Brides! But definately sad to see that we've lost Andrea! Dez, I'm with ya - I hope she comes back under a new name.... and finds us again! So... my last post was on page 20... It really took a lot of reading to get caught up. SO... the wedding front - my white linen wedding shower was on Labour Day weekend. It was amazing! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t28158 I have been writing thank you cards like literal maniac! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t27418 I think I am around the seventy mark with the thank you cards from the shower, and there really is no end in sight! On the weekend of the 23rd I went and picked up my dress in Toronto! YAY!!!! It is just gorgeous! And is now hanging in the closet at my mother's house. Today I called a local seamstress and have an appointment for my first fitting! November 10th 6:30 pm ! YAY! Last week, FI and I went to the jeweler's and dropped off my e-ring to have the custom wedding bands started. They should be ready for October nineth! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t24353 Thanks to the ladies on the forum, I made a decision on mine, and thus FI"s will be very simiar to mine. I picked #1 - as the inspiration for my ring. FI's will be inspired by mine, but will have no diamonds (as per his request) but it will have five indents where my diamonds would be so that they match! So exciting! I can't wait to see the two rings together. The only thing that is currently un-nerving is my BM dresses http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t24442 They have been bought and paid for, but my bridesmaid and dearest friend, who became a new mother on July 2nd is unable to zip her dress... she is short about 4" ---eeik... but I told her not to fret, and that on November 2nd - my birthday and the 3 month b-day for baby girl C, that she can then see if the dress fits. She is really stressed, and I was calm for her, but I am nervous that we'll have to find new dresses.... UH OH... Nice to read and catch up with everyone! Ciao - Aim.

I have heard nothing at all... I am anxiously awaiting a couple of emails from our resort, as well as an email from our friends. Luckily, according to the BBC (CNN's coverage of Ike was terrible as usual, when Ike hit Cuba) although Varadero was evacuated, Ike avoided the peninsula, and the main problems for the area was a lot of rain and high winds. I am hopeful that everything is well....

Well girls, it has been nearly two weeks since my shower and my FSIL has not even made as much of a phone call or email to talk to me. In time I am cooling off a bit, but when push comes to shove, my feelings are really hurt. I completely understand that people make plans on long weekends, most people hate having to go to weddings, showers, committments on long weekends, and most women hate showers (I am with you on this one). But I guess at the end of the day we (most of us) love our families, and want to be with them for special moments. I will confront her, but I have taken a stand that this will only be done in person, and I still believe that my future brother-in-law/best man, needs to hear what I have to say. FI seems to be good with that..... Thanks for all the advice ladies, you are fantastic.

EngagedToBeMrsB - well, my shower was held a lot earlier, because of the fall being such a busy time, with Canadian Thanksgiving in October, a week long prior committment in November, and Christmas in December, and our Wedding being in January, my bridal party hosted my shower in September... on the Labour Day weekend, it was awesome! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t28158
