  1. You look absolutely beautiful. I am really re thinking where i want to have my desination wedding aruba or jamaica
  2. I have been there and saw one wedding on the beach gazebo. it was nice, but the resort is relatively small and has limited activities. It is defintiley a place to go if you want to be able to see your guest everyday as you will always be able to run into them. The beach is wonderfull and the food is okay. The grill has the best food.
  3. I think that you should not ask about money. If someone wants to help contribute then they will. I and my love will be saving and paying for it ourselves. since we are want the wedding of my dreams (LOL) it is up to us to pay for it. You should definitely budget for what you want and anything else is considered a bonus. I have a friend who was told by her mother that she would contribute X amount of dollars to her wedding and it has been 3 years and she still has not see any of it (LO
  4. I plan to identify in the welcome letter that if guest decide to stay off resort then there will be a day pass. The whole point of picking an AI and having an intimate ceremony for me is to have people together.
  5. Since we will be "legally" married we will probably spend the night together and part ways after breakfast.
  6. I personally plan to have the BM , MOH and Groom waiting at the alter and I be the only person walking down the aisle. I do not want a long procession, but it is really up to you.
  7. 1)I think that first you need to determine a definitive number that you would not want to go over. Then take the time frame you plan to marry and divide it into a monthly savings goal. Look for high interest savings accounts that will make your money grow. 2) You should also determine what is most important to you , your must have list and cost out what you want to pay for each. 3) Identify what things on that list you can do yourself, or maybe a talent that one of your guest can provide you as a "gift" i.e photography, videography etc. 4) continue to re-evaluate your list and you might find out that your previously must have list may become smaller and therefore decreases what you have to save. Remember that this special day is really about you and your FI and what people usually have at weddings may not be what you really want to have. Traditions only matters if it really matters to you.
  8. I am thinking about having the wedding at the AI resort, but then moving the dinner/reception to a restaurant. I would provide transportation to the reception, but should I arrange for transportation from the location? The reason I ask this is I would not know what time to scheudle it since people may want to leave at various times. The restaurant location would be relatively close to the hotel.
  9. Do you think your guest kept the password invitations? It seems to be quite a bit of work only to realize they were discarded after the wedding.
  10. This has basically everything you could want including instructions!! AWESOME
  11. How far in advanced does the resort expect you to provide them with a copy of you US marriage certificate inorder have the symbolic ceremony? Is that the reason you are getting married 3 months ahead of the destination wedding? I am thinking about getting married in Aruba and debating about getting legally married in Aruba or US. If I got married in the US i woudl want to do it close to the symbolic ceremony
  12. I think it really depends on if there are important people in your life who you would like to stand up for you and are willing to take the responsibilities. I have 3 friends and a sister who would absoulutely die if they were not apart of th wedding. They are looking forward to a destination wedding.
  13. Have you decided if St thomas will be your destination and if it will be at the marriott? based on the information that you recieved from the resort would you say that it was less or more costly than others.
  14. 85 dollars for a reception. Did you think about having an aftertoon wedding/reception and maybe a party in the evening?
  15. I keep hearing that comparative to to other islands, that st thomas i rather pricey. Do most brides have their reception at a restaurant or at the hotel?
  16. To marry in Aruba you must have the following document notarized and accompanied by an "Apostile" ,an authentication verified by your state governement 1) Certified Birth certificate with apostile 2) Verification of Single Status from the Vital Statistic department of your state. with apostile Was this an easy process to have done? How long did it take to get the apostile from your state? Was this process worth it?
  17. Does anyone have price quotes on having a reception at the Marriott or are most people going some where else?
  18. how many people will be attenting your wedding/reception?
