  1. This thread is back! I am so *almost* done with the 2nd draft of my thesis and then I am totally down for another happy hour. Casey gets back in late August I think. I miss everyone. I feel like such a hermit and have been limiting my BDW time... (sigh)
  2. What I would do again: - marry my sweet love and have a destination wedding as I always dreamed! - get there 2 days prior to my guests to iron out planning and chill - write our whole ceremony from start to finish. it was personal, unique, and meaningful to us. - not be bridezilla and stress and freak over anything. Through all the snafus I just kept rewminding myself of the reason I was there- to marry my man. - not bring down too much for centerpieces and keep it simple (only LED tealights and containers) - hire a mariachi band!! So wonderful and everyone loved them - hire Matt Adcock from del sol photography - hire DJ Carlos from Mannia. My people were a dancing crowd and he kept the music pumping! - go on a separate honeymoon for a week after away from our resort. (we so needed it) - hang out with people and not worry about planning too much once my guests had arrived on Thursday. - the DIY things that I did. we saved money and while simple, it was a personal touch that added to our day. We also have all our memories of stressing over making these little things and then being super proud of them. -OOt bags. hated bringing stuff down but was so worth it becuase people loved them and it made me happy to see them using the beach bag - sleep away from FI the night before and just have girl time with my sis. also not speak or see him the day of wedding which was hard because there weren't that many people at the resort and it made a fun 8th grade feeling game where all the girls were on lookout and if he was coming they would hide me. very amusing since we are both in our 30's, but also super fun and made the first moment of seeing one another so amazing. - drink TONS of water throughout the reception and dance all night long. zero hangover!! - jumped in the pool at the end of the night with many of our guests. a great memory and cool pics too. - give dh the BD book the 1st day of our honeymoon. he was super surprised, and it was a nice way to start off our alone time together. -My BIGGEST do again is this: be a part of this forum, create friendships, exchange ideas, but try and maintain a sense of what we wanted for our ceremony and reception and not get caught up in what everyone else was doing. It was hard at times!! It was really important to create unique moments for our day. What I would do differently - hire an outside hair/makeup person and put more effort into that. I was trying to be more casual about it cause it was on the beach but my hair sucked and the spa did a HORRIBLE job but i was being super laidback about it. - hire a videographer. It wasn't in our budget and we had someone record the ceremony with our camera but it's not the same and I truly wish I would have one of those fun pro videos that I see on here. Only becuase the day was so beautiful. - make SURE that there was a mic for the ceremony! - only get ready in my room with my mom and sis as opposed to all my friends. (Only becuase I felt that I should have a bit more private family time) - pay more attention to the camera. I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I was just in my own world and wasn't conscious of the camera at all. (I think it had it's good and bad cause i hate the way I look so candid in all my pics) - get a group photo!!! I completely forgot and I am bummed.
  3. ok so Evan slipped by another week. It was Phillips time to go but his face- I felt really bad! Caitlin seemed like she knew that she was gonna go before it even happened. I guess she prepared herself for the worst. Goes to show that even if you have lots of training and are awesome- you can have no star quality. sucks. I can't believe that Melissa and Ade were in the bottom 3! They both killed their solos though. Ade surprised me!
  4. Omg Kathy I love your recap we are so on the same wavelength. I agree with your bottom 3's for men and women but my elimination vote goes for: Evan (he will have an awesome musical theatre career) Caitlin(I think she's awesome techincally but no star quality and doesn't "bring it") - my fav choreography last night was Mia's "addiction" one she's amazing choreographer. I used to dance when I first moved to NY and was obsessed with her class. She's phenomenal. - my least fav was that Russian folk dance. that was a big "oh hell no". I agree with whoever said it reminded them of "it's a small world" at disney- so true. I think the race is between Melissa, Jeanette and Kayla and for the guys it's Ade, Brandon, and Kupono till the end. *Philip has been impressive cause I thought he would have been eliminated earlier but he works hard I guess but has no tech training and that is important. ** major shout out for the Tango- they killed it. Amazing! So sexy and technically difficult. I love this show
  5. Hi Ladies, Thanks for the pic compliments! I can't wait to get them all. That slideshow is holding me over though. Glad you got the starfish Lauren- your date is right around the corner! SMB- I vote either he wears ivory to match your dress(might be hard though?) or have a pop of color- no white. That's what my dh did and he had a beige suite. But I don't know if you are anti color.
  6. I do but honestly she is all about the low fat yet processed foods which is a little annoying sometimes but I never would have discovered "better than peanut butter" without her so I am not mad- i love that stuff!
  7. Well I haven't seen this thread in a while but I wanted to subscribe so I could post what our expenses ended up being after all said and done. We paid for it ourselves and i understand the stress that seeing some other people's budgets can put on you. However I will say that the best thing we did was prioritize what is most important to each of you (choose one thing) and then make those two things be the higher ticket items. For example flowers and centerpieces for me were not because I loved the natural beauty of the beach so I just used what came with the package and added a DIY... saved a lot of money but allowed for our photog/dj/band etc... I will post my stuff later.
  8. Yay!!!! You had awesome planning- how fun to see it all come back to life in a spread. congrats.
  9. I did not use the house photographer so I can't comment on that and I also got married on the sand with no shoes. I had no trouble walking... it's sand so I mean I probably didn't look super glam but that wasn't my goal. Lauren- The starfish is on it's way.
  10. Awesome!!!! I'm so happy for you. Congrats!
  11. May the sun shine on you both today. You are going to be a gorgeous bride. Congratulations!
  12. I think the right ones went home too. I was over Asuka and her posing for the camera. I feel bad cause I don't knwo the girl- but she wasn't likeable to me! AND she also wasn't good at any other stuff other than latin ballroom. Johnathan is a cutie and will have a career in musical theatre with his charm adn gmnastic tricks, but sorry he can't compete with these dancers- i'm surprised he even made it this far. Am I the only one who thinks Vittolio is good?? Why is he always in bottom 3?? I feel like i'm not getting it. I think Caitlin has really strong technique but here's the thing with these tv talent shows- you have to have charm and America needs to love you- and I'm not sure she has that. She looks so much like Leann Rimes no? I think Phillip and Jeanine are next to go. I'm surprised he even got this far. He's not bad but the biggest thing he's got going is that he looks like Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller which I LOVE...
  13. See.. now again Danielle obviously makes poor choices right? we know this- but i feel bad for her and even worse for her girls! I though they said that her cheesy boyfriend had a great bond with the girls- he wouldn't do that if he did. Apaprently there was a quote somewhere saying that he spend a lot of money on her and thougt the tapes woud rake in some dough to make up for all he spent on her!!! EEEWW. He's a cheeseball On another note- I can't wait for Part 2 tonight...
  14. Awesome review Yael! So glad everything turned out awesome in the end. It looks grogeous and you both look super happy.
  15. Thursday, June 25, 9:57- avoiding the gym while surfing for another twenty mins..
  16. I think Jaq is bloated cause she's about to have a baby... but she did do collagen in her lips on that one episode. I sorta felt bad for danielle even though she's a hot mess. I can't wait till next thursday for part 2!
