  1. Ok so clearly I am feeling nostalgic already. Only been home a week from my honeymoon. - Married ladies share your most memorable moment from your day. Brides-to- be do it when you get back! I have many but my top 5 that keep playing over and over again are: 1) having my private first look with fi and walking backwards towards each other and seeing his face for the first time. 2) hearing billie holliday's "come rain or come shine" start playing and seeing everyone weeping from afar as our mom's and wedding party walked down the aisle. ( we delayed our ceremony because of rain) 3) seeing my dad weep and get completely choked up when he gave his speech during dinner. 4) Hearing my husband recite an amazing poem he wrote about us and our love. I couldn't breathe. 5) Overhearing my dad hug and kiss T and say "you are my son now. I need to take care of you." and more it was just the way he said it... touched me. alright ladies... share!
  2. Hi there... dropping in for some confessing. - I confess I am feeling a little blue that the wedding really did go by very fast. - I confess that I am wishing I had worn my hair differently and worn the veil that I had. - I confess that I am having baby fever! Even though we have agreed to wait a bit. ok that's all for now.
  3. I didn't do a group rate. Too much stress for me. We booked it through a travel agent and as long as T and I booked our room we were good to go. Unless the group rate is SIGNIFICANTLY less than what your TA is offering I wouldn't do it. Just my opinion though. Your wedding is still months away and it is unrealistic to make your guests book so far in advance. People need to coordinate vacation schedules etc.. Besides- do you really think all 120 of your invites will attend? Don't stress yourself about all their travel arrangements. You'll go mad.
  4. your photos are going to be awesome- I can tell. I love the one where your mom is looking off and you are in the mirror. You look gorgeous from whatI can see. I want a teaser and it's not happening!
  5. You look gorgeous. Your dress looks phenomenal on you! congrats.
  6. It looks great. I like your invites and I really like the engaving on the GM thing.
  7. Jaq- that is beautiful I love it. Jac- that's so wonderful that you did that journal... awesome idea when you are spending time apart!
  8. I think any effort that anyone makes that you aren't expecting is beautiful
  9. My man is amazing with words and a gifted writer. I have many poems, post its and emails from him that all make me sigh.. I have chosen however to share the poem that he read to me during our wedding reception. (sigh..) October 2nd 2005 Was the day that I discovered Another side of myself Yamille, sitting in a booth At Café Bar in Astoria Her voice was perfect Her smile – after I tripped on the wooden platform that I did not see Was perfect She hugged me And we met That first time When I learned at age 30 that there is another side of me Love, to me, was but echoes and disappointment Love was fear that “forever†would be a decision to settle for something, someone Not the granting of a wish, a fantastic rebirth of the spirit But some logical, cold choice to be made at some point on the trajectory of my life Yamille taught me that there is something else Something that I had not considered in myself She fit in every way From our first embrace And every embrace after She awakened something in me That had never seen the light of day Inside me all those years, waiting For October 2nd 2005 Love Waiting for Yamille to be sitting in that booth, on that day, at that hour Knowing that she is the answer To questions upon questions upon questions Yamille Her gorgeous, dark hair described love That Love cannot be bought or sold Her soft brown eyes melted the cold, overcast climate that had settled upon me Sweetly silenced the past that loved to replay all of the failures Her voice and her lips answered everything Because Love, Yamille showed me Begins and ends With Yamille My Love awakened from its resting place on October 2nd 2005 When Yamille and I walked from the Café Bar in Astoria And I watched her walk And she looked back at me And the smile inside me that began When I first heard her voice on the phone Rose up through my soul and my heart And reached my eyes that saw her next to me Love, was next to me Yamille Was next to me.
  10. Petals your pics are so awesome!! You looked seriously amazing. I agree that it's hard getting back in the swing of things here on my end. *fyi Casey is in Italy on her honeymoon. Thought I would update the May ladies since she started this thread back in the day. high five may brides!
  11. Yael that's awesome. Really cute and creative- your guests will love it!
  12. So after being at the Paradisus Riviera Cancun AI for 6 nights we knew we wanted something a bit more rustic with the ability to explore the surrounding areas for our honeymoon. These are my thoughts... I spent three nights at Al Cielo and it was exactly what we needed after spending a whole week with family and friends for our wedding. We were able to check in early and the room was rustic and romantic. I don't know if it was becuase of the flu issue or of it is always this quiet but it felt like we were alone. We basically were becuase Al Cielo only has 4 rooms. We met another couple that was checking out the next day. There is no air conditioning but the ocean breeze is enough to keep cool. It does get a little loud at night becuase you have to leave the windows open and it sounds like you are in a wind tunnel. I guess that's what you get when you want ocean front though. The room itself is very simple- we were in the "agua" room- all named after elements and everything is a deep wood and white sheets and curtains. That's it. The showere is part sea water which was nice but my hair was crying for conditioner. Just an fyi.. The room is literally a hop skip and a jump away from the most beautiful beach I have ever been on. Gorgeous!!! The waves were calm and the water blue and always warm. No pool. We had our designated palapa which was perfect and provided lovely shade- or if we wanted to tan we could pull out a little. Another plus here is the free WIFI. We didn't spend a ton of time on the computer but when we did it was laying on a hammock on our porch. So much better than having to go to a business area- which many hotels do. Also it was included in our room rate. The continental breakfast was delicious and included yogurt and granola, coffe, fresh squeezed oj, toast and if you wanted you could also order eggs. It was a lot. The eggs were the bomb too. DH got Machaka with meat one day and a mexican scramble the other day- both yums. We ate there for dinner once and had the seafood paella. I loved it but my DH thought it was just okay. Maybe it was all the wine I drank? The staff there went above and beyond to make our stay special and I have my fingers crossed that they get more business. Again, the flu thing has really really hurt them. The Al Cielo restaurant is the nicer one on the strip. We went to another one down the beach which was way more casual- on the sand and the food was good but not gourmet. It seems like Al Cielo really puts effort into their dishes and presentation. (no gauacamole/nachos, more sashimi, carpaccio) The few people that we did see stop by for dinner were dressed nicely. They were nice enough to do our laundry when they normally do not offer this service for a very small fee. One thing that you MUST do if you stay here is get a massage from Francisco. I am telling you that his hands are magical. amazing. We both had one and hands down it ios the best I have ever had in my life. He even seemed to work on us longer than an hour- and his rate is so low. Do it! We were thinking of having another one before we left it was THAT good. I will say that three days was the perfect amount of time to stay here for us. We would have been bored if it was longer. There really was nothing to do after 8pm and the restaurant is closed at 8:30. It was pitch black by 10. NO TV, No Phone and no other people. Romantic but possibly not for everyone. Nice for a honeymoon though... The NVR review to follow in a separate thread.. sorry. Can a mod change the title to just be for Al Cielo?
  13. I can't believe that!! anyone would be pissed. I'm with Virg- i say make her pay for something she didn't expect to pay for in cabo.
  14. Capri was opened on Sunday night and maybe sat but it was the wedding so not sure. they had a few selections from all the restaurants available. Remember I was also there momorial day weekend which i thought would have a higher occupancy. Like 3 things from the japanese, 3 things french etc.. The whole thing was kind of weird because we were told that the governement did not want people crowding in enclosed spaces. ?? (disco/theatre/certain restaurants) weird right- I mean what the windows at the buffet negate the germs? We were basically lied to and then realized that it was due to low occupancy becuase other resorts in the area had all restaurants open. I do understand your concern believe me but I really think it will be back to normal by the end of july.
  15. ooh FUTUREMRS.. nice to have an in to get all the details. Yeah when we told our travel agent she FLIPPED out becuase she wasn't told and apparently all hotels are supposed to let agents know of any closings. Perla told me that out of 25 weddings scheduled for May she only had 12 still booked including mine. I was surprised and as said in my review- shocked. Here's the deal.. when SF broke out and we were considering relocating to Jamaica or another place it wasn't the feel that we wanted for our wedding we decided together. After all the info about stuff being closed I was of course shocked, disappointed, appalled etc.. but my friend was like "listen we all didn't come down here to eat at a restaurant we are from nyc we can eat at cool restaurants all the time- we came here to see you and T get married." It made me feel better- it didn't solve the problem but I was better. This is what we did (if anyone is interested)... Thurs- many guests arrived by the eve and we had two tables of 10 set up on one side of the buffet by the window. We had a great waiter and ppl were happy. Afterwards we went to the lobby hung out and they had karaoke going Fri- people were on their own and we had scheduled our welcome cocktail in the mexican patio initially but people actually just ended up constantly putting tables together and there were like 3 different groups at the buffet all on one side - again. then we drank and danced at the lobby-there was a band. Sat- our wedding day- we had a private event on the terrace for the eve. the women and men decided to split up for the day which was super fun. I felt like I was in 8th grade and we weren't supposed to see each other or talk. Mens table was on one side of the buffet rest and my table on another. It was fine. Sun- perla messed up and told me that she would reserve a table at Capri for my party and she didn't so they could only take 10 of us I wasn't happy but people all decided that the ones who were leaving monday should eat at Capri and then others went and did their own thing in groups. The mexican restaurant was opened that night. (it's really really hot in there though I was told) People partied hard the night of our wedding so many crashed and some of us just talked and again hung out in the lobby. We pretty much faded fast though. Mon- everyone did breakfast at their own pace and eventually we all met in the buffet. we had quality time with people that were leaving throughout the morning and some were staying so they went to pool/beach. That was my breakdown about what we did about food and the restaurants being closed. It wasn't ideal but.. what was I going to do. We were compensated in several ways which made the pill easier to swallow I guess.
  16. ladies thanks so much for all the kind words. I can't wait to get my pro pics but it is going to be a while. Matt said he may blog but it will still be a while cause this is their busy season. I had such a blast. oh also my dress was a Maggie Sottero for those that asked. the style name is "monterey"
  17. I heart partyflops. They were a hit at my wedding. This is a screenshot of mine but they looked just like this
  18. Mariesam you are so gorgeous and so are your mommy and daughter. I am super impressed with your planning and trials- it's amazing really. I threw caution to the wind and just went with the people at PRC but honestly if I had to I would redo that part. All my makeup was off like 10 mins after the ceremony it was so hot. You look awesome and by the look on Tommy's face he likes it too! You are going to be a hot bride girl!
