Father Daughter Dance-- Looking for a Great song!
seaprincess replied to ashey063009's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
I choose "Somewhere over the rainbow" by Iz for my father/daughter dance. It means something to us, so it was perfect -
show us your rings!
seaprincess replied to NABUMBAH's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Here are ours...I also have a non-diamond band that matches my husband when I'm not in a blingy mood (aka at the gym, around the house)...that one is hidden under my e-ring -
Ours was $10 000 CAD (8000$ US) including travel. We came in right on budget and everything was perfect....our biggest expense was travel ($2500 CAD - we both got our first week paid for b/c we had so many people book with us) and photographer ($2100 CAD). Our ceremony cost and paperwork was about $2000 CAD. The rest was attire (dress $850, veil $60, shoes $80, his clothes $120)= $1100, rings $1400 and misc. expenses like invites, fans, guestbook, sandceremony, BM/groomsmen attire and gifts and welcome packs. I was very aware of budget when planning and paid attention to sales. Good luck! You can have a fabulous wedding at any budget!

Hey Ladies! I have to still post my planning thread and review. Welcome back!!! Anyone doing an AHR? -
I say do it!!! I did it my actual dress and rinsed it off when we were done. My dresswas lace and it came out fine! The only issue is the sand that got in the liner of my dress and I had to make a little cut in the hem to shake it all out of the liner. My dress was really gross on the bottom after dancing it up on the wedding, but when I was done with the TTD it was as clean as new! I'm even wearing for my AHR in April without drycleaning it in between. Do it!! Do it!! Best pics ever!

Are you changing your name?
seaprincess replied to DGG's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I have decided to add my FI's name to the end of my name once we're married - no hyphen. My maiden name will legally be a second middle name. I will also add my maiden name into my kids middle names as well. They will have one last name, but my name will be with them as well. Professionnally I am keeping my maiden name and not changing it. I work in disability insurance and people often won't use their last name at all, so my maiden name will be an alias of sorts. It keeps people from finding out where I live and my phone number and such... It is also important my children and I have the same last name since my mom used 3 different last names when I was a child and my teacher's were always confused...she had my father's name, then she changed it back to her maiden name, and then she re-married and changed it to my step-father's name. She was often called by "Mrs. my last name" anyways. -

Hey ladies! I have a few more things to cross off the to-do list: - I have made the luggage tags for our guests (pics to come) - I have gathered everything I need to make my veil and have started on it....after my seamstress told me she wasn't able to find any lace to trim my veil (which she was supposed to make), I went out and found my own (which is beautiful) and have decided I can make it myself, how hard can it be.... Thankfully I have more than 3 weeks till we leave - I have purchased and returned my shoes for the wedding (they ended up being too high for my dress, so now I have to start over) I have started getting really excited about getting out of here and hitting the beach (as well as getting married). I think I'm with alot of your FI where the vacation is the first thing on my mind, but once I get to plan more with the WC at the wedding location, it will all sink in. Good luck to those of you who are leaving in the next week! Post lots of pics! -

I wasn't going to argue that we didn't need it legalized...I'd rather have it & not need it than need it & not have it!! Yeah, that makes sense! I don't blame you for not chancing it! I printed out the recipe for our favors. I have to buy a paper cutter and I'm waiting because I have a coupon for 40% off at Michaels that I can't use until Sunday. My goal is to have all of the tags for our favors/ placecards done on Sunday. I also wrapped the handles of my fans today, but ran out of ribbon so I still have more than half to do. I really under estimated the amount of ribbon each fan would take. So, back out to buy more tomorrow! And, I have a real problem NOT wearing my wedding band when no one is around! I'm going to have to have it cleaned or something before we head to Mexico so no one knows! I am having my seamstress make my veil for me....I didn't want to spend $200 for a relatively simple one, so she said she would make one for me for $50 plus the cost of the lace. Good deal! Can't complain! -

We are in Ottawa so we went to the DR Embassy and it only cost us $450 CAD for the exact same thing! What a rip off for you! It would almost be worth the trip to Ottawa! -

Hey ladies! Haven't been on here in a while - work is so busy its cutting into by BDW time, can't say I'm impressed! Anyways, things are getting done slowly but surely. All of our guests have paid in full so we are looking at 49 people with the possibility that 4 more may book. So needless to say I'm short on guest favours and raffia fans...oh well, c'est la vie! My FI and I went to the Dominican Embassy yesterday to process our documents and hand over the cash. $360 US ($450 CAD with the exhange rate being what it is)! Now we just sit back and wait until I have to go pick them up next week. Then we meet with our TA who will help us sort out all the details of the wedding ceremony next Thursday. FI and I also picked and ordered our wedding bands yesterday. I haven't been able to make a decision about a diamond band for the life of me, and FI knew exactly what he wanted so we went ahead and ordered his. Then they told me I only had a week or so to decide on mine in order to make sure it was in on time. Instead of feeling rushed to pick a diamond band, I ended up ordering the matching band to my FI but in a ladies width. It is a gorgeous hammered white gold ring with a sandblasted finish in the middle....Hard to describe, but goes perfectly with my solitaire. I wanted a plain band and a diamond band, so the diamond band will have to wait until I can decide. All I care about is that I have a band I love for the ceremony. Yeah - such arelief! I was starting to stress. Now I'm working on the Dominican Survival Kits (in lieu of loot bags). I can't beleive next month I will be a Mrs!! -

She is really easy to work with and obviously really fast.
