  1. So, my soon to be husband and I are getting married on 12/28. We are going to be surrounded by people from 12/24-12/31 with the exception of 12/29 when he wants to just chill with me. (I am going to try to put together a little TTD with my young cousin who is kind of an up and coming photog - at 19 he has already shot for magazines). Anyway, on 1/1 we are checking out of our place in PV and driving 45 minutes north to San Pancho (San Francisco) which is a sleepy little fishing village and very remote. We are just staying there for 3 nights, but thought it would be the perfect, relaxing end to everything. The beaches are gorgeous, its quiet, and we are staying in beachfront bungalows. And BTW, dirt cheap. I think during the high season it is costing us $150 per night!!! Check it out, it has nothing but good reviews on trip advisor! Just an idea for decompressing after the family and friends leave... Bungalows Lydia -- A small hotel on two hidden beaches near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
  2. Nope, have at it. PM me if you have questions or anything... I loved the boarding pass STD, but am so not creative and not good at crafts! Even when I try my hardest, my crafts always look sloppy, so I figured someone else better do it for me!
  3. Not Vistaprint in this one, but Rexcraft. Again, budget bride so we didnt want to go thru all of the envelopes and liners and all that when we were sending out 90 invites but only expecting 30 guests. This is a seal and send and the response card is tear off. It basically folds into a 5 by 5 or so. Hope this helps anyone looking to save some $$ here and there, who doesnt want extravagent invites. I am attaching the pic as well as a ppt cause I am trying to figure out the best way. If you open the ppt you can expand the pic to see it better. Invite.ppt
  4. I realized that I use so many ideas from you all, but have never shared what I have done with those ideas. So I wanted to show a little of what I did with Vistaprint. I am a creatively challenged bride on a self imposed budget and really like what I got from Vistaprint. For my save the dates, I just did a postcard. And I did a brochure for the OOT bags, with Ann's help. I basically took most of the text from the document she posted, so THANKS ANN!!!! If nothing else, I just wanted give Vistaprint a plug since I really do like what they did for me. Very simple, and everything stayed within a theme. Vistaprint.ppt
  5. Hi Ladies- Well my LC wedding is coming up so soon! We leave in 15 days! Anyway, I had a question, and I searched this thread and couldnt quite figure out an answer. And I really hate to ask on a forum that I know the WCs read. But here goes...what % did you tip the WC? I love mine (Nicole) and she is always really easy to work with. I especially love that she said right to my mother, well this is about the Bride so Jamie what do YOU want!!! I know there are per head gratuities, but not sure if that includes them. Any insights? Thanks Ladies!
  6. I went no train. I saved a lot of money as the dress was cheaper, plus I feel like I will be dragging beach sand around the place with a train. It is really what you feel more comfortable with, but for me, I decided it would be a hassle.
  7. Totally agree. I can not stand bridezillas, and dont get why just cause they are getting married, each and every detail needs to be micromanaged. That would take the fun out of it for me anyway. They are going to remember their wedding as a stressful time in their lives, not a joyous celebration. And what good is joyous celebration that takes blood sweat and tears to plan?
  8. Can anyone think of a song that is from the daughter to the father? A lot of songs are from the father to the daughter. I would like to pick a song that embodies how I feel about what he has done for me. He isnt a music guy, so I cant think of a song that would mean anything to him from the past...hmmm.
  9. I was always kind of bad too about RSVPs, but now that its me, I really don't see what the big deal is! I am kind of kidding...Actually, it pisses me off that I wasted a stamp, but for me, I already know who is coming and if anyone else pops up, well that will be a shock. I sent out 90 and only got about 15 back, and thats even from people who are coming! I even put a link on my website which I referenced on the invite to RSVP, and still havent gotten many! It is kind of rude. My mom mentioned that since we did a tear off postcard for the return, people couldnt put a check in the return envelope. That's mom, always looking out for me!!!

Everyone looks gorgeous, and some look like model shots to advertise a photog! I was going to ask my nephew who is 18 and kind of an up and coming photog to do it. He has shot for teen magazine already, and is really good, but now I dont want it to be too sexy with him shooting! Oh, and Mrs. Christensen, YOWZA!!! Very sexy!
  11. I go to San Fran periodically, but probably not till January. Sorry! Otherwise I totally would!

We are having our guests board the boat at 3:30. I also wanted more reception time, so moved things around. They are really flexible.
  13. Thanks Holley. Do you mind giving me a ballpark of costs? Before I even go to Nicole with that, I want to decide if that is even in the budget. Was it a per person price, or overall, because I know if is overall, that would change depending on how many people are there... Thanks!
  14. Yeah, even if it does get ruined, which I doubt for mine because there isnt silk or anything, who cares? The likelihood of me having a daughter and her wanting to wear my dress in 20 something years is minimal! Plus, if its going to get dirty at the wedding anyway, then chalk it all up to the experience of a lifetime!
  15. We decided to have a cake, but we are also having smores around the bonfire! They are providing everything, for $1.50 per person. The smores idea came first, but then I decided I wanted a cake too, so now we have both. The cake is primarily for the cutting tradition, and for anyone who doesnt want to do smores.
  16. I agree with KellyMN. The shower invites aren't from you. I saw mine when I got it in the mail for my showers. And while I also don't love those, I don't think they are horrible. I think that the fact that they are handmade is kind of endearing, because its like she did her craft for you. I realize that we all want everything to be perfect, but the shower isnt the wedding, and the invite isnt even the shower. The experience will be lovely, and the invite is just a finite piece of that overall experience. But thats just me...I am kind of an anti bride, in that I just like anything being done that I dont have to worry about!
  17. Wow...I wanted simple and ended up with more elaborate than I wanted, but my dress was on sale and was about $350!!! That is also because I didnt want a train for a beach wedding. With undergarments it was close to $600. I got basically what I wanted and for me, I didnt see the differences between the much higher end stuff, but thats just me. I am kind of the anti bridezilla and really want to keep cost down. My veil was over 100 but I dont recall how much.
  18. I am wearing a gown. BM are wearing kind of a cornflower blue. Not my first choice, but David's bridals only has so many shades to choose from. Anyway, GM are wearing khakies and the same navy hawaiian shirt, same as the dads. And my groom is wearing khakies and a white on white hawaiian wedding shirt. I thought our whites would look good. I really wanted him in a linen suit, but he is so picky! And also he is over 6'4 and fairly slim, so he always needs a ton of tailoring done. I swear mens sizing is nuts. Like if you have a big belly, you must have a big neck. And if you are broad in the shoulders, it must mean you have a big belly! Sometimes I am even MORE glad to be a girl!
  19. Yeah, I am still deciding if I care about the dress after the wedding. It wasnt super extravagant, or anything, and while i want to keep it around for memories, I guess after getting it cleaned it goes into some type of storage package anyway, right?
  20. Oops, sage green isnt offered I dont think. But there is a convertable dress out there on the market from a designer that comes in all tones. Depends on your budget tho. That one is a lot more $$$. I wish I could come up with more info...hang on, let me google, and see what I find.... <jeopardy theme plays in my mind...da, da, da, da, da, da, da> Okay here is what I got... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t16754 The VS one might not be in stock right now due to the season, but I think still available if you google. This is the one that is about $270. twobirds bridesmaid
  21. Also, what about the Victoria's Secret 7 in 1 dress. Granted, I havent seen it in person, and maybe its not as fancy as you want, but I liked it. My sister was a PITA about it, so we went to David's, but do a google on the VS 7 in 1. I think there are even threads on here about it.
  22. I agree with everyone else. Hubby is wearing tan pants and a white on white hawaiian shirt and I have a gown. Originally I wanted a strapless A line with nothing on it, but ended up with the organza and beads (which I thought might be too fancy, but now I realize the beading will catch the sun, yeah!!) Most beach wedding pics I have seen on here are like that in some way shape or form. (gown with men's beachy outfit). Probably because a gown can look lovely on the beach, whereas the tux you would expect in a church or hall would look misplaced on the beach unless its a very formal beach wedding (also beautiful). You're all good...
