  1. Hey girls, Does anyone know a good place to get fake lemons and limes? I want to use them in my center piece like some of the ones posted here, but I need to make sure they don't float in water...any suggestions?
  2. My aunt says to boil the perfect egg you do this: 1. Boil water (very bubbly) 2. Put your egg(s) in the boiling water and keep them there for 3 minutes. 3. Turn off the burner and keep covered for 15 minutes. This makes it so the shell comes off really easy and the yolk is perfectly cooked...good luck!
  3. This is a great item! I will be honoring my past loved ones (4 grandparents and a childhood friend) by having a single white rose in my bouquet in honor of each of them. I am thinking of putting them off to sea after the ceremony...
  4. I am sorry to hear that. I just attended a funeral of a 24 year old girl who died of cancer. It is so sad for us, but just remember that they are no longer in pain. They are finally at peace and their battle is over. My thoughts are with you.
  5. Ok, so I want to start off my saying that I feel terrible writing this...but I need to! So my shower date has been set for about a month and a half now (6-7-08!) so I have been looking forward to it! I have my dress, gotten my hair done, started tanning again, etc. My sister has been so awesome in everything she has done for my wedding, shower, bach party, etc. But, last week she got a new job and found out she has to be out of town (Atlanta) for training for 2 weeks, which happens to be the same weekend of my shower. Her training includes weekends, so she can't come back for that weekend. I am so happy for her and so proud of her finally landing a good job but now, my shower date has to be changed. My other bridesmaid and friends are all super crazy busy and already have plans for the rest of the month. Now, it looks like my shower won't be until July 26th! On top of it, one of my other bridesmaids isn't willing to give up things that she has planned in order to have my shower. For example, her husband's niece has a dance recital one weekend in June...so she can't do it that weekend. I don't know, I guess I just feel that if it were me, I would compromise a little more. Plus, my bach party has been scheduled for August 9th, which means that the shower and bach party would only be 2 weeks apart from each other. I have some friends that will be driving 4-5 hours to get there, and I just feel bad having btoh events so close together. I could do the shower and the bach party all in one weekend, but sometimes those seems so rushed and leave everyone completely drained by the end of it. So I don't know...I guess I am just a little dissappointed. Is that totally stupid?
  6. Thanks to everyone for all their thoughts and prayers. Meredith did pass away this morning surrounded by her husband and family. Please continue to pray for peace for her family and loved ones.
  7. Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend and has the week off to a good start. I am writing because a girl I went to high school with is in need of prayer. She is 24/25 years old and was diagnosed with Colon Cancer almost 2 years ago, 3 weeks before her wedding. They quickly realized that it was not only in her colon, but also in her liver, lungs, and lymph system. To make matters worse, over the past 2 years, despite aggressive treatment, it has metasticized to her bone and now her brain. Her name is Mereidth Rankin and I am asking you to pray for her. This past week, she was brought home with Hospice and has been surrounded by family and friends and her wonderful husband. Please pray for peace for Meredith and acceptance from her beloved family. Please visit her website if you wish to read more about her and her 2 year battle with this horrific disease. CaringBridge. Free Websites That Support And Connect Loved Ones During Critical Illness. Thank you.
  8. It was only a 5.4, but for out here (Cincinnati)...that's huge! The news channels are going nuts! I had to get on the website to see the other news because they wouldn't stop talking about the earthquake! I was up, but on my way to work at 5:35 when it hit. So I didn't feel it. No major damage here in the Cincinnati area.
  9. That is awesome! My FI and I met in high school and I had a HUGE crush on him before we started dating. I wrote about that in my journal when I was 17 years old. I kept that journal and continued writing in it throughout our relationship in high school. When we broke up in college, I stopped writing in it. Then, when we got back together almost 3 years ago, I started a new one. I knew from the first time I wrote about him in the journal that this would be part of my wedding gift to him on our wedding day. So I think I am going to write an entry the morning of our wedding day. I will give him that entry, the first one from when we got back together, and the very first one I wrote about him with a card on the day of our wedding
  10. I am not sure what the best company is. but if you have a Sam's club membership (or tell them you do) you can get a discount!
  11. Thanks for this information! My sister and her husband booked their flights to our wedding in San Diego on Frontier, so I'll have to look into it! Thanks Christine!
  12. Tammy, We just adopted a boxer this past Sunday (haven't even had him a week!). The couple found him stray in January and have had him ever since! Needless to say, they fell in love with him but could not keep him because they are renting their home and landlord does not allow pets long-term. I found him on petfinder.com and contacted the foster parents. She told me that from the very first Email I sent her, she knew we were the perfect match for Marli. The owner of the rescue organization felt the same way. We have another dog, Kaia, who is not perfect by anymeans and who we keep in our laundry room when we are gone. That is where we told them that Marli would stay as well. Just keep in mind that everyone has little flaws, but they will work them out and find what is best for both dogs. I am sorry you have to lose Elsie, but I hope you are feeling better about it!
  13. No problem! I am glad you were able to follow that rambling mess of instructions! Good luck!
  14. Actually, shin splints are caused by an imbalance in muscle strength between the muscles in the front of your lower leg (tibialis anterior) and the muscles in your lower leg (medial and lateral gastrocnemius and soleus...aka calf). It is very typical to have stronger calves than anterior muscles. So, I would suggest doing "toe raises" instead of "heel raises." Stand with feet about shoulder width apart. Lift toes off the ground, rocking onto the heels. Complete 2 sets of 12-15 reps at least 3-4 times per week. Also, stretching those muscles in the front of your lower leg before and after exercise can help as well. To do this, sit on the ground with your legs straight out in front of you. Point toes as far down as possible, and slightly inward (almost like club-footed). Lean forward at the hip until you feel a stretch in the front of your leg. Another stretch you can try is this. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart. Cross right leg over left, with the right toes pointed to the ground. Slightly bend the left knee, pushing the right lower leg forward. You should feel a stretch in the front of your right leg. Ok, so that was a lot harder to type out than I thought it would be! Let me know if it makes no sense at all and I will try again! Good luck!
  15. I think this is the place that I stayed a couple of years ago when I was on vacation with my family. I think it was the Azteca. It was a pretty nice hotel and resort. From what I remember about it, the Azteca is a total family place...lots of activities for kids, games, etc. I was there as a 23 year old with my mom, sister (25), brother (18 years old), and a few family friends (all 18+), so all the activities weren't appealing to us. However, if you are looking for a place that can entertain kids, then it would be a great place! The lobby is beautiful, beach was gorgeous, amazing pool area, etc. I would rate the food at about a 6 on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best)...hope this helps!!
  16. Can't wait to hear about his reaction! Congratulations!
  17. Thanks for all the suggestions girls! I think I'll go with the website, since I can do it for free on my knot page...thanks!
  18. Hey girls, We are registering tomorrow (if I can drag my FI out)! Do you have any suggestions or tips? Where do I start? What can I do to avoid being overwhelmed? How do I know what to scan and what not to?
  19. So we are only having about 30 people at the wedding in San Diego and money is pretty tight since we are trying to pay for as much as possible on our own (including the AHR). Is it really all that necessary to send reply cards out to those people who we already KNOW are coming (flights and hotels booked)? I am thinking of just including reply cards to those who I am unsure of...but is this poor ettiquite? At this point, we are willing to do just about anything to save some bucks
  20. Hey Rhonda! The SAME thing happened to me, so I gave my laptop to a guy I work with and he was able to salvage it (as a matter of fact I am on it now). I told him that if the computer was shot I can handle that, but I wanted to at least be able to get my pics off of there. He worked his magic and was able to get it so that I could get on here and at least get my pics. So over the weekend I took all of my pics and put them on CDs...do you have a tech guy at work or anything that may be able to look at it? I think Scott ended up getting some converter thing that he used to get into my computer from his desktop...I am totally computer dumb, so I don't realyl know all the details. But use who you know and see if anyone can help you out!
  21. Just did the first workout for the day...quick elliptical session and quick weights. I am teaching a Spinning Class at 7:00-7:45am and teaching CORE class from 12:00-12:55...gonna be a great day!
  22. Hey girls! Sounds like you are all off to a great start! I work in the fitness field and am constantly being asked questions about exercise, nutrition, fitness, etc so if you have any questions...ask away! I like to put my education to good use! PS...PM me with questions because unfortunately I can't get on the forum everyday to check the threads
  23. I would think you would want to have the same color veil as your dress. I think that even if the veil isn't PURE WHITE, you may still be able to notice...but that's just me
  24. We are having an AHR 3 weeks after our wedding because we want to have it in the Fall here in Cincy. Our is going to be VERy casual (chili & wings for food, Ipod music, cornhole, volleyball, etc.) I still don't know how the timeline will go but I am thinking that we are still going to be "introduced" as the new Mr. and Mrs. and I will make my apperance in my wedding dress (per my mom and sister's orders!), but then will change into something a little more casual. If I were you, since your food is cold anyway, I would just have the food out throughout the evening and let people eat as they want to. That will help make it more of a "party" rather than a reception. That is what we plan on doing. I think that you should show the video shortly after people get settled in...maybe 8:00? And just let people know they are free to get their food whenever they want to eat. Hope that helps a little!
