  2. This should help you out a little it from http://www.weddingdetails.com/lore/mexican.cfm: The Thirteen Gold Coins (Trece monedas de oro) The madrina de arras holds the 13 coins the bridegroom presents to the bride. The coins, or arrhea, was a Roman custom of breaking gold or silver, one half to be kept by the woman and the other half by the man, as a pledge of marriage. The groom gives the bride thirteen gold coins as a symbol of his unquestionable trust and confidence. He pledges that he places all of his goods into her care and safekeeping. Acceptance by the bride means taking that trust and confidence unconditionally with total dedication and prudence. The custom of the coins originated in Spain. Thirteen gold coins (arras) are given to the bride by the bridegroom, signifying he will support her. Often presented in ornate boxes or gift trays, this represents the brides dowry and holds good wishes for prosperity. These coins become a part of their family heirloom. The number 12 represents Christ and his 12 apostles. The coins are presented to the priest by a friend or relative (usually the purchaser). The priest then blesses the coins and hands them to the bride who places them in the groom's cupped hands at the beginning of the ceremony. The coins are then placed on a tray and handed to an assistant to be held until later in the ceremony. Near the end of the ceremony the box and coins are given to the priest who places the coins in the box and hands them to the groom. The groom will then pour the coins into the bride's cupped hands and places the box on top. This represent his giving her control as his mistress of all his worldly goods. (Sometimes their hands are tied with a ribbon for this portion of the ceremony.) Jessica

  5. Im also a PV Riu bride. We chose the Riu Vallarta because we love the resort and its affordable. We are having a Catholic ceremony at Nuestra Senora de la Paz Church which is in the Marina, PV. The church is like 20-30 minutes away but we are willing to take the drive since we fell in love with the church.

I hope my professors aren't secretly laughing at me on the professor forum. haha I agree with you on that one Rachel...how embarassing if professors were to post our papers on a forum and laugh at them. Now you got me thinking!!!

  16. I am so sorry to hear the bad news...i understand what you are going through completely. My grandfather passed away last year and even though he was sick like your grandmother and we knew it was only a matter of time before he would be gone it was still extremely hard. I was really close to him. My only advice is that it is ok to cry it will only make you feel better and even though they are gone you never feel like if they have really left because he is always in my thoughts. You and your family are in my prayers...everything will be ok.
  17. Dune Duggies are a blast...me and jr went on this excursion last october and it is so much fun but it is scary at times. You really get dirty and very wet. This is a must do when going to PV the view is really amazing too. When they take you to the tequila tasting you actually taste like 8 different tequilas and you can buy bottles too. We bought a tequila bottle called "baby maker" it was too good we finished it in one night...lol!!! Rachel Im glad you guys tried it out!!!
  18. Welcome to BDW..do you have any ideas of location
