  1. Thanks for all the comments on the logo. Katie (my daughter, the bride) designed it herself. She's very creative and studied visual merchandising in college. Hopefully I have the posting image thing correct now.

I could not find anywhere in Canada to get them for a small quantity. I'm / we're extremely happy with them.

Yes, we are using the design for other things and I've posted some of the items in another thread. Also using it in various forms for name tags that are still in production
  4. Thank you once again for all the ideas and help supplied by the ladies here. I could not have done any of this without the kind and generous advice from those who have done all this before me. Canvas bags bought from Creativebag.com $1.30 CDN each. Iron on transfers from Staples.ca. Candles from Pier One $2.00 CDN - got them after Christmas. Postcards from vistaprint.ca $30.00 CDN - 100 postcards free but have to pay to upload images and shipping. I hope this works! Again thank you all so much!
  5. Thank you girls so much for the information provided previously to this company. I placed our order January 10 for 36 mugs. I uploaded artwork supplied by my daughter which she made exactly to the specifications on their website. I checked a box to say I would like to see a proof ahead of time, but never did get it. I received a confirmation of my order the same evening showing a total of $219.19 (US$) which included the charge for uploading artwork and shipping charges - no free shipping to Canada. On January 23 I arrived home to a notice from USPS saying that they had tried to deliver a package but no one was home and they would come back. I also needed to pay a $60.27 'brokerage' fee. The USPS guy came back yesterday, I paid my money, and got two big boxes. All together the mugs cost me $290 (CD$) and I actually got 40 mugs. But they are absolutely terrific! The logo is printed on both sides (as requested). They are really hard to photograph and I'm a novice at this so hopefully this works and you can all see what they look like. Again thank you all so much for all the help and advice!
  6. I tried this recipe and it is very good. I grated some cheese over the top. Mmmm Mmmm good :0
  7. Holy cow! Those look terrific and I hope that your guests appreciate the work that went into them!
  8. August 8 is actually my daughters birthday, but she decided against an 08/08/08 wedding
  9. Such a great idea! I was definately thinking of getting a reel of thread to match the bridesmaid dresses, just in case

  11. We (the brides mother and father) paid for the engagement party. I have (or will) pay for the wedding dress and any alterations. We are paying for our own travel expenses as well as those of our other daughter. Her boyfriend has said he will pay his way but as he is in college we intend to help him out too. I am paying for the other daughter's outfit as she is a bridesmaid, and still in university. I am also paying for the contents of the OOT bags. The bride and groom are paying for their own travel and are planning to pay for the wedding. We offered to help but they said we were already doing enough. We will be there to help our financially if it is needed. The grooms parents have already given them a monetary gift, and have talked about paying for a "rehearsal dinner".
  12. Can I take advantage of this great deal? If so I'd like: 7 - IS00SV - Silver 7 - IS00IV - Ivory 6 - IS00WT - White I really appreciate all this work and please don't forget to add in the cost of packaging when you let me know how much to send. Thank You!
  13. From the US? I could have driven to Buffalo at some point too. But I saw them on ebay for around $22 (including shipping) instead of the $60 they wanted at Yorkdale! Thanks so much for the offer!
  14. My daughter is getting married at the resort right next door to yours, Riu Vallarta, on May 7, 2008! Congratulations!
  15. I'm trying not to think about all these 'extra' fees I'm going to be paying in the next few weeks. I ordered parasols, custom printed mugs, and Spanx all from the USA this week.
  16. If anyone from Canada needs coupon codes for vistaprint.ca pm me and I can forward an email I received with offers valid until January 18, 2008.
  17. Thank you so much! Very useful information. I have forwarded it to my daughter as she is putting together a welcome package for the wedding guests.
  18. Look in the Toronto Star newspaper this weekend and see what deals they have for Vegas, which are air and hotel included. Don't necessarily pick the cheapest one, but one in the middle I've stayed at the Imperial, Treasure Island and NewYork New York. Out of the three I liked NewYork because of the location, but it is in the opposite end to the Stratosphere. How long will you be there?

So what I'm doing is going through all my digital photos and uploading any that I want printed to an album called "print later" to my Costco Photo account. Then when the time comes I can just add them all to my cart and go pick them up next time I'm at Costco. You USA girls could check for a similar offer.
  20. Us moms can be a pain in the arse Seriously, it is a major lesson in negotiation this wedding stuff. Most of us have raised our daughters to be independent, free thinking women, and now it comes and bites us in the butt It is so good to hear this from the other side, really it is. I really try/tried to keep my mouth shut about the wedding, but sometimes things just slip out. My daughter Katie, is so very different from me. I am an organizer, very detail orientated, and was raised in the UK so certain customs and etiquette are very important to me. She is artistic, dramatic, non-conventional, and just wants to be different for the sake of it. We've had our moments during this whole process, but for the most part we've worked most of it out. There are still things I would like changed but I recognize that this is her (and her fiances) day and she should have it how she wants it. The first time she went out dress shopping she went without me! She went with her future MIL and SIL, I was so upset, but I let her know, and why it made me upset. With the bridesmaid dresses it was a process. She started off saying she didn't care what they wore, but her sister and I prevailed after about 6 months of us making other suggestions on what might look nice, and taking her out looking at various options. We got her to agree to a shopping trip at a bridal store, got the colour figured out ahead of time, and told the 5 bridesmaids they could have whatever dress they liked from that particular line, but in the one colour. With all the ground work done the 5 girls took 1.5 hours to pick their dresses and get measured, so we all went out for lunch after Sorry for the ramble, but it is something that I have been wresling with for over a year. Well I should say it's been all her life
  21. I didn't mean to cause any confusion! I saw your wedding date on another post but didn't want to hijack someone else's thread, so did a search for an earlier post of yours, and found this thread.
  22. I just wanted to point out to you that July 25th is my anniversay, but in 2008 my husband and I will have been married 27 years, so I hope it will be as lucky a date for you as it has been for us
  23. Yes Melissa, I am in Ontario. North of Toronto. My husband tells me that he bought some a few years (3+) ago from a factory outlet somewhere, he can't remember where, which have been used all day, everyday, since he got them, to mix ink! I know I need one!

I very nearly bought myself a kitchenaid mixer the week before Christmas. I make lots of cookies every year to give to all my friends at this time of year and once again I burned out the motor of the hand mixer I had. I just couldn't justify the $400 price tag (in Costco) so I bought another $30 hand mixer. I figured I could buy a new one each year for the next 10 years! I know at some point I just have to bite the bullet and buy one, but I just couldn't do it at this time
