  1. Hello there... There are a bunch of Moon Palace brides here. I actually just moved my wedding from the Paradisus to the Moon Palace. We had a great site visit and a great experience so far with the Sales Manager that we have been doing our planning with. We are getting married there in April 08 and are really excited about the resort. We'll be doing about 40 guests with a private reception. If you have any specific questions that I can answer, feel free to ask! Best of luck with your planning! The ladies here are a wealth of information! Claire
  2. Hey Michelle, Sorry I haven't responded to your note about the Paradisus. I've been traveling a bit for work and just got back a couple of days ago. Just a quick note to make sure that you can have an open flame if you are planning on using them for your reception before you buy them. I know a lot of places allow candles as long as they are in a glass hurricane or votive cup, but not an open pillar candle... Just a thought! How is your planning coming?
  3. I was happy to see this post this morning. I work at a hotel and we have a university nearby. A parent who stays with us often asked a favor to leave her son's car at the hotel while he is home in California over Christmas break. I told her of course we would take care of it for her. Yesterday, I arrived at work after a sick day and there was a fedex on my desk from this mom. I opened it, and it contained three beautifully wrapped books ("A History of Love", "What I did for Love" and "Love Notes") with a note saying thanks for my help, and here is some reading in anticipation of your upcoming wedding. I have never received such a thoughtful gift. I can't wait to return the favor to someone else! Happy holidays everyone
  4. I am bringing a local photographer to the Moon Palace, and they are charging her a $650 fee. It was a hassle to deal with the resort, and the fee is outrageous, but I think overall it will be worth it, even though it is a lot of $$.
  5. WOW. You really did have a busy couple of days! This is fantastic - and will be super helpful to anyone interested in any of those places. Great work!
  6. I'd LOVE to hear your firsthand experience. We recently moved our wedding from one of those resorts and I am interested to hear what you thought of it.
  7. Hi there - I am stressed about the photography thing too. It is not within my budget to fly someone in and I found a great photographer in Mexico - Cecilia Dumas - and they confirmed yesterday that I canNOT bring in any photographers from Mexico "due to issues that they have had with them in the past". I even offered to pay an additional feel. Quite honestly, I am more than a little pissed off about it, because I am totally unimpressed with what I have seen from them thus far. Boo. Let me know if you get anywhere on the photography end. Good luck! Claire
  8. Congrats to you too! We just booked our flights and will arrive the day after your wedding. We were actually planning on doing the dinner in the restaurant thing (we'll have about 45 people) but my dad made a big deal about the dancing... so guess we'll do the private one and figure out something for the music... Good luck with all of your planning!
  9. Those are great! I love the luggage tag idea. I just moved my wedding to the Moon Palace. Happy planning!

    hey girls

Very exciting! Congrats! Where are you getting married?
  11. I will use the resort photographer, but I am also trying to bring in an outside photographer as well. She is from the Riviera Maya area, though, and I understand that there my be an issue in bringing in a "local". I am trying to work it out now. If I understand correctly, they assign you a wedding coordinator 90 days before your wedding, so hopefully you will hear from someone by mid-December? I have been dealing with Carolina Lopez in the Miami office for the wedding and she has been super responsive and wonderful. Let me know how it goes!
  12. Hey - I don't know about the cost for open bar. I was quoted a free cocktail hour based upon booking 10 rooms and then if we want to do a private reception, which we will, I believe that the cost is $50 per person for two hours including open bar. That price is for a buffet, as they will not do plated dinners on the outside terraces. I think that it is $60 pp for a plated dinner if you do it in a ballroom. In the contract that I was sent, it says that a one-hour cocktail party is $25 pp. I am dealing with Lorena in the Sales Office at the Resort and she has been super-responsive. Do you have a block of rooms and a sales manager that you are dealing with?
  13. Oh great! I will look forward to that! We are getting married on 4-17-08 at 1 pm. I am trying to figure out what in the world to do reception-wise because it is a weird time... late for a lunch reception and early for a dinner reception. We are definitely going to add the private reception... I am just not sure exactly where or when. I hate to have a break in between. I'm looking forward to hearing about your plans! Claire
  14. Hi there... We are in the process of changing resorts from the Paradisus to the Moon Palace. We've just received our contract and are getting ready to sign. Just a couple of questions for current Moon Palace brides... Are you bringing your own photographer? Does the resort have a decent photographer? Which package are you doing? Are you doing a reception? If so, where will you do it? Will you be doing dancing? We are going to have our ceremony at 1 pm, then do the cocktail party that comes with booking 10 rooms (we'll probably have 15 rooms or so)...then we thought that we would do a private reception on one of the terraces for a mid-day lunch/dinner type of thing. Thoughts? Thanks! Claire
  15. at the Paradisus Riviera Maya in Puerto Morelos... Probably too late to be asking... but any last minute advice? We're getting married there in April 08, so we're going down to check it out this week, make some decisions about ceremony location, menus, flowers, etc. Hopefully I'll have some good pics and such when I get back!
  16. Thanks! I was leaning that way but just couldn't decide. All of the reviews that I have read said that the beach was better at the Royal PDC but that the service was better at the Royan Cancun, and that the facilities are great at both, but a little more luxurious in Cancun. I guess it sounds like I would be happy with either!
  17. Hi there... Wondering if anyone has been to either of these hotels? We are getting married in April 08 at the Paradisus Riviera Cancun and will move to another resort for a couple of days for a mini-moon after our guests leave. We've liked the look/cost of these two resorts and think we'll book one or the other. Any input? Thanks! Claire
  18. Hi, I'm getting married at the Paradisus Riviera Cancun in Puerto Morelos, MX... they only do one wedding a day as well. Good luck!
  19. Congratulations! Best of luck with your planning! This site & these ladies have been super helpful!
  20. Hi there, I am curious to hear about how you are organizing transportation for the trips... We are getting married at the Paradisus and we were thinking about doing something like this but weren't sure if we wanted to rent shuttles or how to transport everyone back and forth. I LOVE 5th Ave in Playa and all of the bars and restaurants are great! Good luck with your plans! Claire
  21. Congrats! I am getting married in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area. Nice to meet another Mexico bride! Good luck and happy planning! Claire
  22. I'll definitely let you know. We are going from November 12-16, so I'll definitely shoot you a note when I get back. Is there anything specific that you'd like me to look for, or are you just looking for an overall impression? There are a couple of girls online here who are actually getting married there in November as well, sadly there will not be a wedding while we are there, but you may want to do a Paradisus post or search the posts for them as well for helpful info. Best of luck with your plans!

    New!!!

Hi there! Welcome and happy planning! Are you getting married at the Occidental Xcaret or at Xcaret Park? My fiancee and I stayed at the Occidental Xcaret and it was great - beautiful resort, great service. We went to the park as well and fell in love with the chapel on the hill there. We are getting married at the Paradisus Riviera Cancun next April. Best of luck with all of your planning! Claire
  24. Thanks! We'll definitely look into those places. We don't have our heart set on AI and will look at anything that sounds great... we just want to make as little of an effort as possible. Thanks again!
