  1. It's so pretty. I love that style for a beach wedding. I want something like that....light and flowy. Maybe I need to check out David's bridal.
  2. Good luck with Tiffany. She answered alot of questions for me before I put a deposit down. We just picked the location and put a deposit last month I think..7 months prior. You should be fine waiting until January as long as you are flexible on the specific day you want the wedding. I haven't really thought about getting all of our luggage on a ferry. Ugh. I think I am avoiding that thought. Some travel sites say it is so easy to take a bus to the ferry but I am not dragging a wedding dress and whatever else we have (and baby stuff for you!) on a bus! Oh well. It will be a small hassle in the grand scheme of things.
  3. I finally made my Message in a bottle invites. Here are a couple pics. Sorry they are a little blurry. This is the bottle. FI didn't want to put a label on the outside. I just went with it because it was less work. We wrapped them in fishing net with some toy fish. My cat helped I have a pic of the scroll/invite also. But do I need to blur ourtt our last names? I haven't figured out how to do that.
  4. I am so excited someone else likes Isla. I feel sort of alone here. Tiffany at sunhorse has been very nice and generally quick to get back to me. I will only have 6 guests, so we aren't doing a reception, just dinner at a restaurant so we don't have quite as much for her to do for us. But I have heard good things about her. I don't know how much needs to be brought in from Cancun. I am sure they have most things on the island. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. We rented Casa Mimosa (http://www.casamimosa-isla.com/default.asp). We are all staying there and having the wedding on the beach in front. There is a beach club next door (Zama Beach Club) that you could have a reception at (it looks really nice). We aren't near downtown or North Beach but from what I can tell it is a short taxi ride to both places. Unfortunately, no site visit. It's weird to plan a wedding to a place I have never been but so many people seem to like the island and I trust Tiffany. If we get bored we can always hop on a ferry to Cancun for some activities. I don't know if I answered all your questions, but I will give you as much info as I can. Let me know.
  5. I couldn't find a pic of us holding hands. But I did find one of my grandparents at his 80th birthday party. I thought it's so great that they are still holding hands after over 50 years of marriage.
  6. I think I finally have everything I need for these. Work really gets in the way of my wedding projects. Now I am having trouble with wording the invite. We are only inviting immediate family (so really we are sending these because they are fun, not because we need to). I want it to be something like "If this message finds you..." I know there are some very creative people on this forum so I would love some ideas.
  7. We will have 6 guests. Immediate family only. We are still deciding whether to have an AHR. That will mean inviting 200 people and I don't know if I am up for that.
  8. I need to pick a photographer soon and I am having a hard time deciding. There are a couple I really like that are more than I planned on spending, but part of me wants to just go for it...I don't get a do-over on my wedding pictures. I also want a TTD session and I don't know how much extra that is going to add.
  9. I have really been thinking about doing this. I am only worried about not liking the food (I can be picky) but so far I have only heard good things. And obviously I can't be trusted to pick my own food or else I would be eating alot healthier. I know what I should (and shouldn't) eat but it doesn't always work out.
  10. I just found this thread. It's inspiring. I was doing really well the first half of the year, but I started a new job a month ago and I don't get home until after 8 and I am not a morning person. I haven't really worked out since I started this job and now I am having a hard time getting back into exercising. I think I have to force myself out of bed in the morning. I need motivation!
  11. I am using glass, but I am only inviting about 6 people. You have to pack the glass bottles in boxes. The plastic ones can be mailed without boxes. I ordered a sample from messageinabottle.com and it comes in the mail as is. Those are probably easier and cheaper to mail for a big guest list. I decided on glass because I wanted bigger bottles than was available in plastic.
  12. I just got the bottles for my message in a bottle invitations. I am so excited! however, I went to 2 different Micheals' stores and couldn't find sand and shells (they only had really big shells...maybe they were just out of small ones). Anyone have any website suggestions of where I could get this stuff? The sad part is I live in Southern CA....miles and miles of beach and I just don't have time to search for shells. I wish I did because that would be so much more fun.
  13. Welcome to the forum. I was having the same dilemna. I didn't want a resort but something much quainter. I decided on having immediate family only instead of inviting everyone (i probably would have had 200 invitees as well). I chose Isla Mujeres which is a small island a few miles off Cancun. There are some nice hotels that are inexpensive. I rented a house on the beach so I could use the beach in front and have privacy. There is a beach club next door (Zama Beach Club Photo Gallery by SunHorse Weddings at pbase.com) my WC does many weddings at. I am not sure of it's capacity but it looks pretty big. Congrats on your engagement.
  14. That's good to know. I wonder if I can wait that long to buy a dress. Wedding is March 26, 2008. Hmmm.....
  15. Those are really cute. I am going to try the message in a bottle invitations, but I also love the boarding passes everyone has done.

  17. I am with all of you. I hate when salespeople hold my hand...I want to be left alone to try things on..no pressure. I want something simple so maybe I will order online and just send it back if it doesn't fit. I may eventually have to venture into a dress shop though. Ugh. My wedding is in March...I don't even know when I should start shopping.

DH does not do shots well...either do i..i bruise with blood tests, but he faints 2. we wanted to have our own officiant for our ceremony and not have it in spanish 3. we actually got married a few months ahead for insurance reasons. I faint with needles also! That's the only reason I am not having a legal wedding in Mexico. We will get married just before we go to Mexico...probably something completely cheesy in Vegas. I think if we get married before then I will feel married after our Mexico ceremony. I don't want to have the ceremony and feel like we still have to do more to get married.
  19. We finally made a decision! I think Sol's pictures were the final convincing we needed to choose Isla Mujeres. I am very excited. We found a big house on the beach we are renting for the week that our whole group can stay at. I am so relieved to have made that decision. I know there are still so many more but I can at least breath easy for the next week or so.
  20. Our original plan was to have a DW with immediate family only and an AHR a few months later for everyone else. But I am reconsidering the AHR now. I don't want to spend the money or go through all the hoopla. That is the whole reason we are running off to Mexico to get married! I just had to put a big deposit down on the location so I was stressing about the money a bit. Maybe I will change my mind about the AHR later. I just feel like it will be all extended family and friends of parents - the people I don't want to invite to a wedding anyway.
  21. I think we will be getting travel insurance. We have never considered it before but we are spending alot more money than we usually do for a vacation (we are paying for accomodations for our families). Most of our cost is travel and not the wedding itself. I don't know where to even get travel insurance. Do I just go through the company I have car insurance with? I do have Amex. Maybe I will check with them as well.
  22. I was hoping to finally book my wedding on Isla Mujeres this week (for March) but now I think I will wait and see how bad the damage will be. I finally make a decision on my location and Mother Nature steps in to make me question it. And probably the WC and hotels have bigger things to worry about than answering my emails right now.
  23. Sol, those pictures are amazing. you have made me excited about Isla Mujeres again. I have been looking at other places in RM, but I keep coming back to Isla. I want small. If I was having more than 6 guests I would definitely choose a bigger resort and city. also, since we are planning on a March wedding, I am afraid cancun and some of the other cities will be bombarded with college students on spring break. I have actually contacted Sunhorse Weddings and got a really quick response which is very encouraging. I can't wait to see more pics from you.
  24. I know you said you want to save on stamps but maybe do separate RSVP cards for the wedding and the AHR if it's not as important to get an early head count for the AHR. My wedding will be immediate family only-6 people. The AHR is for all the people who aren't invited to the wedding so unfortunatly combining the invites won't work for me.
