  1. I will only have 6 guests and if we end up on the beach I am planning on having them stand. It should be a short ceremony (much to FH catholic mother's dismay) I feel like it will look so sad to only have 6 chairs sitting out there. I went to a beach wedding several years ago and everyone stood. I wasn't expecting it so was a little annoyed because i was in heels and didn't want sandy feet during the reception. But it wasn't a problem. We all stood and it was fine.
  2. I prefer the idea of sending them after our wedding. Maybe I will plan the reception for about 6-8 weeks later and just pass the word along earlier to those who will have to travel. Now we just have to decide whether to have it in CA (where we live and my family is) or in CO (where his family is). although, the first decision needs to be the weddinng location...
  3. Ok. I will try not to ramble too much here... We are probably getting married in Mexico (or some destination for sure) with only our immediate family. We plan on having a reception when we get back and I would like to do it within a few weeks of the wedding, which means invitations should go out before the wedding since many people will have to travel. How much notice do I need to give for the reception? We are planning the wedding for March 2008 so I would like the reception in April I guess. I was originally planning to send invites after the wedding so i could include a picture but obviously that timeline won't work. and how do I word such a thing? "you aren't invited to our wedding but come to a party?" haha I hope this makes sense.
  4. Those are so cute. That is the kind of invitation I am planning on doing (we got the idea from a friend who had received one). I like the coconut oil touch. Where did you get the bottles and sand? Did Michaels or craft stores have them? I haven't had a chance to go shopping for the supplies yet. ..I also haven't picked a location yet so I think I have time.
  5. Anyone get married at Brisas del Mar? Or anywhere in Zihua for that matter. I think it would be fun to get married in Zihautanejo because it's fun to say.
  6. Some of those bungalow eco-hotels look great. But we will have my FH 11 yr old niece (several say no children) and our mothers who might not appreciate a hotel with "limited" electricity. And honestly, I am a bit squeamish about the bugs in Mexico (I got stung by a scorpion there once) so maybe an open bungalow is not for me, either. Maybe I should look into Play del Carmen... oy vey!
  7. Anyone getting married in Tulum, not at Dreams? The place looks great but I am looking for something smaller, not an AI resort. I like to go out and try local restaurants so it doesn't make sense for me. Any recommended WC? Hotels?
  8. I appreciate the honesty. It's what I need. I want something a bit more quiet than cancun but not a place that shuts down at dusk. I don't want our families to be bored since we are essentially making them go where we want. I feel like everytime I think about or read about a new destination I want that. Haha. Most just aren't practical (or in our budget) Are there some other RM locations that fall somewhere between Cancun And Isla Mujeres?
  9. Anyone get married here? Visited? It seems nice based on all the websites but I am still on the fence about Mexico. I am mostly considering it due to cost (everyone will be flying from CA or CO) but I really don't want to spend the week fighting off vendors on the beach. Aahhhhh......

    Anxious Newbie

Hi everyone! I need help!!! We have finally picked March 2008 (the last week-no specific day-we are flexible based on whats available) to get married. That took 6 months! I have narrowed down the locations to Mexico (Isla Mujeres/Riviera Maya) or the Carribean (have been looking at St. thomas but haven't ruled out other islands) We have 6 guests-immediate family only. I don't think I want a big AI resort, although that would probably be better for our guests and their different interests. I want something smaller, boutiqe. Isla Mujeres seemed good for that but close enough to Cancun for bigger activities if people want. Anyone here get married in Isla Mujeres? I have contacted a couple WC there and haven't heard back yet. Ok. Bring on the suggestions!!!!!! I am making myself crazy with this.
