  1. Sounds to me like she just wants to insure that the $ gets in right away but normally your guests should be responsible for their own deposits.
  2. Fleishbrok and Greble (my grandmother was German and passed the recipe down to my mom who passed it on to me) It's tedious and when you make it you make a big batch and freeze some but it goes fast! Fleishbrok: You take 3-4 store bought bread dough loaves(in the freezer section), let it rise according to the instructions. Meanwhile cook up a couple lbs of hamburger meat and add a bag of frozen chopped onions (this will give the meat moisture). Salt and pepper the meat mixture. The more salty the better. Once the bread dough is thawed and risen. Kneed and roll out the dough until it's about a 1/8 inch thick on a well floured surface. Using a knife cut the dough into approx 4in x 4in squares. Spoon some of the meat mixture in the center of the squares and pull up all corners of the dough to the center. Seal all seams well until they form little square pillow type shapes. Once they are all made place them seam down on an oiled cookie sheet. Brush oil over the top and bake until golden brown. (note, most fleishbrok is made with cabbage in it but my family omits it) Greble: Take the remaining dough and again cut into squares. Cut two slits down the center and fry in hot oil. Drain on paper towels and then coat with sugar. Serve a piece of the fleishbrok with a of piece greble. The salty and sweet combination is awesome together. The ingredients are so simple and it's SO GOOD! Ok, now I want to go and make some. NOTE: This is not the most healthy recipe

Oh, and when couples register at Macy's the bride is able to sign up at that time for her complimentary makeover. She then works with the private shopper to set it all up with us. Great info! Thanks!

  5. I'm sure your photog can shoot you from the side without the rip if all else fails!
  6. Check out this website... Discount all inclusive vacations and honeymoons: Excellence, Secrets, Palace, Dreams, Sunscape, Couples Resorts in Cancun, Mexico and the Caribbean. You can click on a destination city then they will list all the AI resorts. When you click on each resort it tells you how many rooms it has, who it is good for (families/adults/weddings, etc), plus there are great pictures. It might give you a good gage at what's out there.

I imagine it would be hard to have fun when you worry about every little detail. Sometimes you just have to roll with it. Nicely said.
  8. I couldn't open that picture I would love to hear more about your wedding too! And would love to hear more about your Palmilla wedding...which by the way would be my first choice for a location.
  9. Unfortunately you won't have crystal clear water on the west side of Mexico but Cabo (more towards San Jose del Cabo) has surfing beaches. Have you looked into the Bahamas or DR at all? You should look into just calling a few Wedding Coordinators in the areas you like. They will give you tons of info and help you find a good location based on your requirements and they'll do it for free until you hire them for your wedding. (well if you want to do a site visit it usually costs a couple hundred dollars).

That being said, I'm sure some TA's are honestly looking to make you happy and give the best advice. I second the "tell US what you want" part I second the travel agent comment. They do get commision from different places. My TA kept trying to get us to have our wedding at the Finesterra...ah, no. Not that it's bad, we just stay there for all of our company trips.
  11. Thanks for posting that, that gets me motivated! As I'm eating a handful of caramel corn...which by the way Shelly is your fault! You posted that popcorn bar thread so I had to go out and get some caramel corn for an afternoon meeting snack. Everyone else appreciates it here though

And, the fruit basket... You just got married to the man/woman of your dreams and your one big concern is where your free fruit basket is! My concern, which I keep reading over and over, is about the lack of customer service at the front desk and from management at RIU Ocho Rios. But, hopefully, we're all prepared enough to deal with it. Exactly. I can't stand it when people complain about their view from their room, there are no bad views at these resorts. We had a garden view at the Riu in Cabo and it was beautiful, it we wanted to see the ocean we just needed to walk outside! Who stays in their room all day anyway?
  13. BTW, you get approached in Cabo too by drug dealers. Maybe not at the resort but the last time we were there my FI got asked over a dozen times by different people! It's funny because he's never touched a drug nor would he. I kept telling him he must look like someone with $$ to spend. And when we stayed at Breezes in Runaway Bay in Jamaica for my brother's wedding, immediately upon arriving our shuttle driver offered to sell us pot. They must get a lot of American's that do buy it so that's why they do it, we just laughed it off.

I do keep reading some concerning reviews about the service at the ROR and it makes me a little nervous... You'll be fine. You already have the right attitude!
  15. Very beautiful! I love the neckline and how it goes to two thin straps in the back. Who makes it?
  16. Wow that made me really depressed. That sucks that they had so many problems, man they really had a string of bad luck. But then again some of that stuff happens at an AI and you just need to relax and have a good time. Get your fill of the free booze and sleep in a hammock on the beach!

A friend of mine got married on the 4th here in Wisconsin and once the sun went down we all went outside and did the sparklers...the pics were so great!
  20. Why don't you post a list of things you are looking for your destination to have and we can all try to help. A lot of us are well traveled so we should have some good insight for you.
  21. I'd like to hear from those of you who have had fireworks or are planning to for your DW. Was it worth the cost? How long did you have them go for? I'd really like to have them but don't know if I want to pay an arm and a leg for something that most people will be too drunk to remember
