  1. Hi all - does anyone know of a reputable place to have a bridal dress steamed in PDC? I'm bringing my dress down folded in half, and it was mailed to me from the shop unpressed, so it is pretty wrinkly - my WC suggested I have it steamed at the hotel I'm staying at (Iberostar Tucan) but I'm nervous!!! Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with this? Thanks so much! Christy
  2. Hi Jessica - could you post more info about Sarah? I am looking for someone to alter the dress I bought out of town and just finally recieved today, and my wedding is only 4 weeks away! Thanks in advance, Christy

  4. Are you guys planning to pack the flip flops down in your luggage? Between the OOT bag stuff, favors, decor, etc. I feel like I'm going to need three extra suitcases just for stuff like this!
  5. Has anyone found a website or store that sells fake white finger starfish? I'm thinking of making christmas ornament favors with them but am feeling guilty about buying natural, once alive starfish, it seems cruel?
  6. Welcome!!! You will love this forum for planning!

  8. What a great idea, tinabop, to do a trial run at home and take lots of pics for the Mexico stylist. I'm definitely going to copy that. Thanks!
  9. We chose omni mainly for these reasons: 1. we can have a ceremony & reception there without staying there and it is close in proximity to playa del carmen where we and all our guests are staying 2. we will have the whole pool/pool deck, pool bar plus a second bar and part of beach area blocked off for our private event at no extra charge. 3. it is a smaller hotel in a less densly hotel populated area, so not tons of people around outside our blocked off area 4. our wedding planner has lots of experience with the hotel and has the ability to turn a rather plain looking area into something really fabulous 5. we loved the food we tried there Hope this helps
  10. Okay I am freaking out about my wedding day hair. I'm not at all good at doing my own hair, and don't want to burden any of my friends/guests just hours before the wedding (plus they'll probably all be drinking already!). Does anyone have a recommendation other than just using the salon at my hotel? I'm staying at the Iberostar tucan in Playacar and would love to have a stylist come to the hotel to do my hair, but I would be willing to go to a salon if necessary. Any advice will be much appreciated!
  11. We visited during our fact finding trip with this place in mind as possible welcome dinner spot or even wedding/reception. While we LOVED the coolness factor of the place, we were concerned about privacy. It is huge so we wouldn't have had the whole place to ourselves, and it is right next to one of the biggest and most popular beach clubs in Playa, so we were also worried about crowds from over there. That said, if seclusion had not been one of our top priorities we would have went with Kool. It has really great miami beach type style, open and flowy, the manager seemed very professional as well. HOpe this helps. Sorry I have no good photos.
  12. OOOhh definitely Prince for my group, practically anything of his from the 80's...
  13. We're having the ceremony and reception at the omni in puerto aventuras, which is a small hotel, not all inclusive and more private and intimate than the iberostar. They are giving us a large private area for the whole night, which is what we really wanted. As far as the resaurants go, we like the mexican best, but it is rather small. I also like the steak house and you are right it is casual but has good atmosphere for a party in my opinion. I don't care for the japanese habachi place, we've tried it twice and didn't like the food either time and it was really really slow.
  14. We are staying there (and so are our 50 or so guests) because it is one of our favorite hotels in the area. Beautiful, natural grounds, awesome pool and the best beach around. We opted for an off resort wedding reception, but will do everything else at the Iberostar for the wedding week. Good luck! Christy
