Hello Debralynn, In Mexico the tip goes from the 10% - 15% of the total of the service. For example is the photographer charges 500 usd. you tip him with 50 usd. BUT with established companies that charges you the 11% of taxes and if you are charged with a 15% of service charge for the servers and the wedding coordinator charges more than 1000 usd, then you are dealing with Professionals that do not expect to get any tips from you. However I suggest to tip the servers that were great no matter if you are in a restaurant or a wedding with at least 10- -20 usd. Hope it helps and Happy planning to you all!

  4. Hello again SimplyMV, We talked today to the Justice of the Peace and they said they can offer a similar ceremony to the civil ceremony but with no legal value. Since ceremony is very short, if you are interested, they can add a unit candle ceremony with no extra charge. Price will be less than the half of the price of the regular civil ceremony. Good luck in your search!
  5. Hello Jenjen0927, As a weeding planner with more than 13 years in the area we always have done all our blood tests in Mexico. However, I wanted to reconfirm your questions and we just hang up with the Justice of the Peace and they said that it is always possible to have your blood test done in the US or Canada BUT will have to had the apostille from your country and has to be translated here in Mexico which represents a lot of money to do all of that. That is the reason why it is always better and cheaper to do it here in Mexico. Blood Tests here in the area are around 250-300 per couple (or even less if we take you directly to the lab) BUT some hotels charge it per person. In case you might need any additional information, we will be happy to answer at [email protected] Best Regards,
  6. Hello Elaine, The best way will be to do wire transfers and pay in cash only the last minute payments that will represent less than 1000 usd. and as Mel says, call your credit card company to let them know that you are traveling. Best Regards!
  7. Dear SimplyMV, In the area, there are many types of symbolic ceremonies and our favorite is the mayan. The mayan ceremony is ancient and has to be performed by a Shaman by legacy (there are only 3 real Shamans in the area) Here is a video of a mayan ceremony followed by a TTD and you will find more info in the following link: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/a/how-is-a-mayan-ceremony If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer at [email protected] Happy planning!
  8. The Mayan Ceremony is an ancient ceremony based on the Mayan culture and performed by a Shaman (Mayan Priest).Shamans normally becomes shamans by legacy, inheritance, because their parents and grandparents so it is very important to have it in mind. Prior to the ceremony, the area is cleansed at the four cardinal points by the Shaman with the sacred smoke from the Copal tree and the blowing of the ritual conch shell horn.An altar is created to represent these four cardinal points. Flowers mark these four points and on the altar there is traditional offerings to the Gods - corn, beans, rice, fruit , flowers, water and fire– to represent the gifts of prosperity, fertility and the 4 elements. Candles or torches are located on the altar on the four cardinal points -- north, south, east and west – to symbolize the presence of the four Mayan cosmos gods.

  12. Hello! We always suggest to do your ceremony on the beach an hour and a half before sunset BUT your couple photo session must be done before the ceremony so you can have enough time and day light to take photos with family and friends after ceremony. Do not forget that before defining your ceremony time, It is a MUST to talk to your photographer and videographer because some professionals have different point of views. Happy planning!
  13. Hello Guzman Puente, I am a wedding planner and caterer in the area and have been working with Hits Band since 2009 and never had a problem with them. They have always delivered what was on the contract, so perhaps some possible problems that might arise when there is not a contract. Happy planning!
