  1. What's great about this site is that there are other brides planning their weddings in Cabo as well as those who have already had their weddings there and are still on the forum and provide a wealth of information.
  2. I know I will have at least ten, I'm thinking i may have 30 if not more! I realy need to get the info regarding room blocks and penalties. I need to see the contract. jess
  3. I know there is a window as to when you can release rooms without being penalized but I am not exactly sure when that is. I definitely want to do a room block to gurantee a room rate. There are some people I am sure that would go and some that I think wouldn't, but at the same time I may be surprised as to who comes and who doesn't. If I had my wedding in L.A. it would be around 200 people many traveling from Ireland, Canada, SanFrancisco. 122 of my guest list were family alone from both me and my FI but mostly my FI. Its hard to work on a budget when I am unsure how many people I am working with. jess
  4. Ladies what was the percentage of people you invited that actually did show? With traditional weddings I think its about 10-20% but with DW I am sure its totally different. I am not sure how many rooms to block. Help please. jess
  5. thanks. I actually was printing from Kinkos and thought there colors would be better. I am going to try agin today when I am not so flustered. jess
  6. I have a template from aylee for the boarding passes. I have been having trouble though finding the right colors. If you want I can send you the template along with some other ideas. PM me if you would like the template. jess
  7. I don't know how to upload a photo. I have tried using photobucket but it still says invalid. I have read other posts on how to do it but I can't. jess
  8. I am so frustrated! After several computer problems I was finally able to print my boarding pass STD's but the color I have on m computer is not the same that prints out. I tried varying the colors but I can't seem to get the right color. I feel like I have to change my wedding colors now. That may be drastic but I am so annoyed right now. I was going for a green/sage and pinkish plum. It's really hard to describe but my inspiration was a pic on this site if starfish as place card holders with green tags and a plumish ribbon. Any advice? My friend said she can calibrate my computer so that what I see on my screen in what prints but I feel like I tried every color already and they come nowhere close to what I wanted. Thanks, Jess
  9. Great job! Those are awesome! You have given me inspiration to perhaps do my own. I love the sand dollars and the invites. jess
  10. Lovely! I like how secluded your ceremony site was it looked really intimate. I alos loved you table decor. Congratulations!!! jess
  11. I am so happy the forum is up and running. At first I thought I was banned for not posting enough or something. I feel for you Tammy. I seem to ALWAYS burn my hands when I cook and I know how badly it hurts however not so bad that I have to go to the ER but a burn is one of the most painful things you can to to yourself. I hope it gets better soon. jess
  12. How far in advance do you think I need to book? My FSIL is a hairstylist so I am in the clear however I may need someone to do my bridesmaids and I definitely need someone to do makeup. Did someone say that Dreams did a disappointing job with hair and make up? Jess
  13. I totally feel for you ladies. I am at my early planning stages and already feel strange vibes from people. However I am very sensitive and over analyze everything. This weekend we went to visit my FI's father and step mom for fathers day. We haven;t seen them since we set a date and location. I was disappointed and hurt that no one bothered to ask me about me wedding plans. I brought it up to a few people but it felt like it wasn;t a big deal to them. I could totally be over thinking this but its how I felt. I think we all need to remember we are not being selfish, how is it being selfish when it is our wedding not theirs? While my FSIL was planning her wedding last year I feel as though I supported every choice she made because it was what she made. jess
  14. There are so many Cabo brides here that have given me so much info and have an answer for every question. Have you picked a site for your wedding yet? The majority of the brides here either get married at Dreams or RIU however there are brides getting married at other locations like the Hilton, Cabo Surf Hotel and some other places. Let us know what you need help with. Good luck and congratulations! jess
  15. That's great!! I booked him for my wedding next year as well. I haven't talked to him about TTD session however. I would love to do it. Well congratulations!!!! jess
  16. When I saw Juan Carlos Tapia's photos from brides in Cabo I had to have him for my wedding. There are other photographers as well that other brides have used that look great. My advice though is to book soon. I am getting married in July 2008 and my first choice in July Juan was already booked. jess
  17. Although I agree pictures are very important you have to think about the big picture. What made you want to get married in Jamaica in the first place? If you like Cabo get married there but I think you shouldn;t get married somewhere based on a photographer. I am getting married in Cabo, I have been there a few times and feel that a DW would be much more memorable and enjoyable for everyone. Don't rush into a decision, take your time and investigate both places and the right choice will come to you. Sometimes making a list helps because it helps you weigh your pros and cons. Most important is to don't feel rushed in making your choice. What's a few more months compared to feeling confident about making the right choice. Good luck and everyone on this site is very helpful. jess
  18. Absolutely stunning! What hotel was their reception at?
  19. I dont have a problem with the extra fees I just didn't understand it. I would love to hear about anyone who has had a bonfire at Dreams as the pics I saw from RIU looked great.
  20. Can someone explain to me welcome/rehearsal dinners at Dreams. If all the food and drink are already inlcuded what exactly are we paying for.
  21. Ask Patti. She has every cook book known to man.
  22. I'd like to know about the bonfire as well.
  23. Well my FI's sister just got married in September and invited the wedding party and all out of town guests, it was about 80 people. $24 a person does not seem like a lot of money however that depends on the number of guests we have. The only reason why I bring it up because my family mentioned something about the my FI's family paying for the rehearsal dinner. if they were planning on paying for a rehearsal dinner in our hometown why wouldn't they pay for the one in Cabo?
  24. My family is paying for the wedding at Dreams and are planning to have a weelcome dinner as well. My question is traditionally the grooms family pays for the rehearsal dinner so should I discuss this with them. Prior to having a DW his mom mentioned she would be saving for a rehearsal dinner. Shoul dI assume this will be the same in Cabo. Won't it be cheaper anyways since we will be having it at Dreams? Jess
