2 days!!! That's it. I need probably about 100. I am not working until late August and although my wedding isn't until next July I would like to use this time to get some things out of the way. I think I would have more creative control if I did it myself. I think I am going to order a sample from cards and pockets to get a better idea.

So I have been looking at invitations and have been unable to really figure out a price so I went to Papyrus so they could inform me about all the different enclosures and materials. I was astounded when they quoted me $1500 Is that how much invitations cost? I want pocket invitations in order to include all of the neccessary enclosures like travel and accomodations. I didnt want to make them since I was a bit stressed by making the STD's but now I think if i use the materials from cards and pockets I could make them for a lot less. However I will have to make about 100 or so. What do you ladies think? Those that made their own with pockets and cards was it hard? Did they turn out nice? My friend told me that most people will throw them out but I still want them to look good and I feel like they are important piece of the wedding. What should I do? Jess

I am a little confused with the fees at Dreams. I was told that the regular banquet menu is $24pp and the golden menu is $40 pp however I see a $48pp wedding fee or somemthing like that. Is that on top of the menu fee? I just emailed Mariana but I was thinking I might get a faster answer here. Thanks, Jess

Thanks. I did not know what I was getting into when I took on making the pockets. I made SO many. My family keeps giving me more addresses to send them to (they say they won't come but would be happy to get one) but I am so over them. I was on a roll but now I am no longer in the zone. I probably made at least 100. Not fun but I am mvery proud of the final outcome. I went to my FFIL's house and noticed he only had the pass on the fridge and I thought to myself "he better not have thrown away the pocket, that took me so long to make" My blood boiled a bit. jess

I finally finished my STD boarding passes with help from a few fellow brides on this forum. Thank you very much for your help especially Jessica. Hopefully I can post the pics. I made a special pocket for the boarding pass that was labor intensive but I love the way they turned out. Lets see if the photos post. Jess

If you are happy with him and marrying him without a ring then do it. However if having a ring means something to you, I am sure you deserve it and should get it. Has he started setting aside any money towards a ring? Some men really don't get it and that doesn"t mean they don't love you but sometimes they need a little help from others. Also I was told that if you were to but a ring at a jewelry store then say in a few years wanted to upgrade to a bigger stone when you could afford it you could trade it in.

I actually got a template from another bride on the forum and made my own. I haven't been able to post a pic yet but I am very proud with the way they came out. If you would like the template PM me and I will send it to you. Several brides on this forum use the same template. There were a few problems with formatting but in the end they all look really good. However if you would like to order the boarding pass STD I believe { aylee designs } and Prim and Pixie has them and a few other sites. Jess

I wore this dress in brown as a BM last September. We purchased them at Macy's. If you have the code on the price tag and phone a Macys or Nordstroms they can check thier computers to see what store has them. We had to do this because they didn't have the right size for us and they gave me a list of about 25 different stores that carried them and we were able to order it.

Thanks so much for your review. I am getting married at Dreams next July and it helps relieve some anxiety knowing things went well. Congratulations!! Jess

That's tough. To me it's important for my family to be there. Maybe you can discuss his finanacial situation. How long are you hoping for him to come? Maybe he can come only for the weekend to lessen costs. You are getting married in January which is like 6-7 months away which seems like a reasonable amount of time to save some money. My aunt told me she wanted to either pay for my wedding dress or honeymoon and I told her I would rather her use the money to help her kids, my cousins and their families, to attend the wedding as my family being there is very important to me. I am sure something will work out. Just remember not to stress too much and remember to enjoy this time. Good luck, Jess

Did you register for gifts?
jesswins replied to JessicaM's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Wow! I am surprised that so many people are not registering while I understand your points here is my situation. If I had a wedding here in L.A. over 3/4 of our guests would be traveling to the wedding be it from Ireland, Canada, and San Francisco. So does that mean if I had a wedding in L.A. I wouldn't register because my guests are traveling? I am not getting married for gifts, it's not about that, but they would be nice hahahah. I always assumed I would register but now you have me thinking. Also this trip is a vacation for them as well. jess
