I'll keep yall posted, but I get so tense when he goes back to the doctor (usually every three months or so now). Last year was really rough.
  2. Dear Self: Please remember how damn good you feel this morning after a 45 minute work out, why don't you get your butt out of bed every morning?! Please remember this feeling when you're making excuses. Dear Crazy Extended Family: Can't you please just get a life and let my father be his own person, rather than always having to clean up all of your drama because you're too irresponsible and immature to live your own life. It's not his job to take care of everyone, he needs to take care of himself. Dear Dad: I'm nervous about your trip back to the doctor next week...I know you will still be in remission, but one of these trips won't be good news. You have been so strong during the transplants and it's wonderful to see you being "you" again, I hope these next results are as good as they've been the last year. I am so glad you are going to see me get married and walk me down the aisle, I didn't think it would happen 5 years ago when you were diagnosed. I love you.

We are using rounds & rectangular as well, but the rectangular will be cocktail height...love your pics though! I want more!
  5. Just found this thread, and have a few things to get off my chest! Dear Wedding Guests: Why do you think that it isn't important to reply by the date requested? We even prepaid the postage, all you have to do is drop the card in the mail, you don't even have to put it in an envelope and seal it. Why have 100 of you still not replied 5 days after the RSVP date? Is it that difficult to check a box and drive by a mailbox? And why do you think that if you are really coming, that it's a better idea to wait and make your flight arrangements closer to the wedding date, instead of now? Also, I hope you're as excited about the wedding as we are! Dear Self: Stop stressing over the non-RSVPers. They aren't coming if they haven't replied yet, so just mark them as No and move on with it. Budget without them and leave a slight cushion. Also, get on the treadmill tonigth and make that butt smaller! Hotel rooms with blackout curtains is not a good enough excuse for not working out while on business trips! Dear UT: I hope we beat you on Saturday, because I'm sick of losing the last few years. McCoy really is going to be demolished, I hope you're ready for a beating. Dear FI: I'm going to miss you next week when you move to Colorado, but I know it's for us and I'll be there after the wedding. Please don't eat pizza and burritos every night becuase since you currently don't fit in your swimsuit, you certainly won't in 5 weeks. I will take care of the dogs, don't worry! Dear Boss: Yes, I am very excited about leaving the company and moving to Denver. I'm sorry that you can't understand that I don't want to be stuck in this job for the rest of my life, although I graduated from law school I can now Fed Ex things very efficiently. Please understand I am more intelligent than you give me credit, and no, I don't like how you sing all the time. It's annoying. WHEW! Thanks ladies!

Ok, first of all, WELCOME! You will love it here! Second, we decided to pay for our parent's rooms, grandparents and a handful of very close friends. We included a hand written note in their save the date, which basically told them we are providing their accomodations for the wedding, please be discrete, etc. They were blown away and thrilled of course. Next, if you're looking at 10-20 guests, what is the budget you are working wtih? I ask because there are some amazing places in the caribbean and the budget can dicate whether you go super-small resort/boutique or a bit larger area, and whether you can provide rooms for your guests, or just everything else. I did a ton of research for venues, and we loved the BVIs, Anguilla, Mexico, Jumby Bay, and Turks & Caicos. Let us know your budget direction and we can go from there.
  7. Ok, so I just met with Deena on Saturday and we had this exact discusssion b/c FI was set on fondant simply b/c he wanted the smooth look it gives. Unfortunatley as everyone has mentioned, fondant limits the flavors you can use as fillings, etc, so we're going with buttercream. Hooray! Deena showed us pictures of some of her cakes using buttercream and they were perfectly smooth, just like fondant, the only difference is that fondant gives that curved look of the layers, and buttercream is more of a linear edge. Make sense? And I'll add, Deena is just adorable...so sweet and fabulous, didn't have to put down a deposit, I told her exactly what I wanted to taste, and it was all fabulous. Seriously, we added an extra tier on our cake b/c we couldn't decide! I'm going to post a review of her & the cakes we tasted when I get back from being out of town, but just wanted to throw this in. Our cake, however, will be indoors b/c it'll be in the lounge area of the ballroom, which made Deena very happy so she doens't have to battle the heat at all. Yum, just thinking about the cake makes me hungry!
  8. My wedding coordinator told me that the majority of sparklers in cabo are homemade and are pretty messy, like the silver stuff comes off. Did any of you have a similar experience?

No, it's just like an airport in the US, there are always people w/ carts in the baggage area wanting to help (aka getting tips for it). So you'll see a few guys walking around with huge carts, waive one down and tell him how many bags you have, slip him a tip and on you go.

In Cabo, you clear Immigration, and then get your bags. Then you stand in line again and send every bag, including carry-ons through a scanner where they xray it all, then you take your bags through customs and push the stop light where they can search there too.

The place was pretty cleared out when we were there and there were a lot of people working on the place. We didn't talk to the owner, Amy just took us there and we walked through. Ok great, just wanted to make sure...yeah, everywhere we visited was doing some upkeeping...definitely off season! Can't wait to hear more about your planning!
  14. I just got back from Cabo last night, and we took down three duffle bags full of OOT stuff: collapsible coolers, koozies, mini Pepto/Advil/Chaser, plus first aid kits, etc. When we landed, we found a baggage guy to help us with a cart, I paid him $20USD, he handled all of our bags for us, accompanied us through customs (where you have to screen the bags again). The customs official started asking us questions b/c the lady screening could see all of the little things, and they were talking back & forth, he was asking me what was in the bags, etc and I was nervous! "Wedding stuff" wasn't an good enough answer apparently. The guy helping us with the bags, instead just picked up our bags for us and pushed us through...so he totally saved all of our stuff! So, I would highly suggest finding a cart guy to help with the bags, and hope he's as much on a schedule as possible!

I love that place, and we're taking our parents to dinner on the Wednesday of our wedding (before guests arrive) and didn't know about any renovations? Any help would be appreciated...sorry for the hijak!
  16. Ha, I'm here! I just haven't had time to upload my pictures! We took like 100 and I was exhausted last night when we got home! But I got some GREAT research in for everyone, we did a very thorough check of Costco with full pricing and had some fun too! I will upload pictures tonight hopefully (I have to go out of town tomorrow for work, so hopefully I'll get it done tonight!) Oh, and Michelle, you are going to LOVE the Imperial Suite...it is so much better than I thought it would be on the interior! We took a bunch of pics for you!
  17. I'm in, but I'm making my goal 10 pounds considering the fact that I have 6 weeks until my wedding! Ah!
  18. We're doing a taco bar, relatively inexpensive, delicious and easy!

I think it depends on the vibe of the night...are people getting bored and their meal getting cold, or are the toasts wonderful and everyone is loving it? I've been to weddings where the toasts lasted 45 minutes and it was great! -I have heard that you say "best wishes" to the bride, and "congratulations" to the groom- is this true? I've heard you're never supposed to say Congratulations to a couple until they are married, so I always say Best Wishes...but I don't know why, except my mom told me so! Thanks!!
  20. Angela, you look beautiful. You should be very proud of yourself!
  21. Amber, I just got back from Cabo last night, and Costco has several cakes that looked delicious, and a huge flan...like maybe 16" in diameter, that could serve a crowd. So check out Costco when you stock up on alcohol & water and you should definitely be able to find something!
  22. Good news! I bought yall a bigger carry on bag so you'll have some more room! By the way, love your new siggy pic!
  23. Michelle, I have confirmed w/ Daniela that we'll see the interior of the Imperial Suite today, so I'll do some sleuthing for you! And we're doing a menu tasting so I'll review in case we have similar choices. I also asked to do some appetizers, so they'll send those to our room tomorrow for us to try and I'll report back on those too. Anything else ladies? I've made my list and I'll check it twice! I leave work today at 11am Central time, so put your request in quickly!
  24. Welcome Kelly! We love new ideas! Tell us more about the wedding you're planning!
