I'm so sorry! Air Jamaica is possibly the worst airline we've ever flown, going and coming home. They didn't cancel our flights but the plane was very dated and the crew was less than hospitable...and it's hard for me to speak negatively about anything related to Jamaica because we love Jamaica, but it's true from our experience. All we could do was laugh so we didn't get upset. Anyway, if it's not too late to change carriers I wouldn't try and change your mind!

Yep, sadly this seems to be the norm around here. It happened to me as well. I wonder if this happens to people having "traditional" weddings as well or if it just happens to us lucky destination brides? As much as it stinks you'll have to follow up...and hope your guests tell the truth when they say they are coming...that's a thread of it's own

I agree that many OOT bag items are things people bring anyway or things that are free in hotel rooms, and that local flavor is way better. I also agree with MarieSam that it would require waiting until you get in town to get the local items and she's right, time flies and things are hectic enough once you get there. Say you have 50 guests...think of getting in town, going shopping, and lugging back 50 bottles of rum, 50 cakes, 50 bags of coffee, 50 mugs, etc. It's not impossible but it makes for a lot of work when you could be visiting with your guests or relaxing before the wedding. In ours we included things like dominoes, cards, waterproof neck safes, etc. that people enjoyed and didn't bring with them. A mix of fun and local is great if you can work it out.

That is tough, but a happy husband makes for a happy marriage so let him pursue this and see what happens. The timing may work out just right, and if not, we will be here to help you scramble and figure it all out
