  1. Alright ladies and germs.. We are one month away from the big shindig!! Karen found what we think would be a great place to eat drink and be merry throughout the afternoon or whatever. It is called Senor Swanky's located at 513 Columbus Avenue, New York City, NY, 10025. Garage Rest They have a dining area, a tequila/margarita bar, lounge, outdoor sidewalk seating and more. They can accomodate parties of up to 75 people in their lounge as well. Depending on how many people we will have coming, that could be an option. So, the game plan for now is to do the cruise at 11AM for whoever is interested and then meet up at Swanky's at about 2PM to see how much trouble we can get in. I am going to email them to see if I can get some sort of menu with prices for food and drinks to give everyone an idea of costs. The restaurant is close to Central Park and subway lines if we want to go exploring elsewhere as well. What do you all think? How bout a roll call?
  2. I aint gonna make this any easier for you. I am a total whore for interesting yet inexpensive watches. Honestly though, all of those that you picked out are awesome. I know that I would be happy with any of them.
  3. Playa Jobos is right there. Lots of good food and drink to be had. Take a drive down the west coast and visit Rincon while you're at it. I am jealous.
  4. I voted for numero 6. That shit is F L Y! It looks like he has similar tastes as me in watches. Another brand that I am all over right now is Skagen. They are reasonably priced and look beautiful. To me at least. Check out the link and take a peek. Skagen Denmark - Danish Design Watches, Jewelry, Sunglasses and More
  5. What is a Canada? Is that where Eskimos live and eat Polar Bears?
  6. Forgot about another moment..... The DJ from Dee-Lite was going to be DJ'ing at a club in Upstate NY where I lived at the time. I got volunteered to go pick him up in NYC. When I got there it was him (DJ Dmitry), Lady Kier and the Japanese guy Towa Tei (?). The 4 of us rode up the Thruway together and hung out after the event. Lots of fun that was.
  7. There is really no way to access the ruins from either direction on the public beach. That's part of what made it such a great and secure location for the original settlement. I can't think of anywhere on the beach that would have a view of the ruins that is not on the government property. I have seen photos facing the ruins from a boat that looked pretty cool though. What was pointed out to me once is that a lot of the people working at the ruins site are Mayan. In general they appreciate people coming to see and learn about their ancient culture, but in some ways they frown on people treating it with any perceived disrespect. It's their rules, their national treasure and it's up to us to play along with their rules.

I met Jaclyn Smith who was super nice and 10 minutes later I met Meryl Streep who was kind of mean and wouldn't give me an autograph (keep in mind I was like 10 so I was genuinely hurt LOL). I made small talk with Keenan Ivory Wayans at a taping of his talk show (the show didn't last long) and he was cordial. Some of you may recall my crazy encounter with Daniel Baldwin...he thought I was in danger at this taco shop (he was totally on drugs) and was prepared to protect me...haha We ended up eating with him, he was actually a cool guy. I wrote a thread about it here awhile ago. Those are probably the most famous. When I first moved to L.A. we met some Wu Tang Clan members at a concert and ended up hanging out with them for a few months while they were out here working on an album (gotta love being young...lol). The ones we hung with were exceptionally nice, looking back it was borderline strange how cool they were because at the time they were very popular and we weren't putting out - lmao! We used to go to the studio with them or go get the house keys from them at the studio and hang out at their spot until they got there. Either someone would cook or we would order food and talk music or watch cartoons haha. It was crazy listening to the album later and thinking "I was there when he wrote that" or whatever. It was a fun time. A girlfriend of mine in college dated this A&R dude and she used to take me with her when he came to town from NY. Once we were swimming & Slick Rick arrived. I'm an old school hip-hop fan so that was huge to me. He and his wife came over and he was like "Hi, I'm Rick"....I wanted to say "No shit, you're wearing the freakin eye patch!" but I just said nice to meet you LOL Anyway, I met him, his wife, and Doug E. Fresh a few more times and they are really nice. The guy worked for Def Jam so he was always with artists like LL Cool J, DMX, Dru Hill, etc. Everyone was very nice & polite except for DMX who was as abrasive as you would think, hate to say it but it was true then. And he really talked like he raps, it was pretty funny Oooh and once we were leaving their hotel and they were filming 90210 in the lobby...I was like 5 feet from Brandon & Dylan - they are short and skinny but really cute! Okay last story, I was at Rick James' funeral (lol I know) and there were all kinds of celebrities around but I didn't "meet" them. Jamie Foxx, Charlie Murphy, Teena Marie, Ron Jeremy, Chaka Khan, etc. The funeral was 4 hours long and like a party, it was really fun. Damn! Lots of people on there I would love to meet. Dave Winfield was my hero when I was a kid. I always pretended I was him when we played wiffle ball during the summer. As for me... I have met a few. MCA (Adam Yauch) from the Beastie Boys, met him when I was in a record store in NYC. I ended up spending the afternoon walking around to different record stores with him. He was an awesome guy. Neil Diamond. Under dubious circumstances at a NYC party once. Lots of indie and punk bands/musicians including Dicky Barrett (Mighty Mighty Bosstones), Jon Spencer (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion), Ian McKay (Fugazi), Angelo Moore (Fishbone), etc, etc. I never really got starstruck around anyone. I just talk to them like I Would anyone else really. If they are cool, I'll keep talking. Oh yeah....almost forgot.... I met some of the Wu one time. I was misbehaving on the street outside of where they were recording once. They joined in the misbehaving for a few then went inside.
  9. A few that come to mind...... Lol Ha in Akumal Don Cafeto in Tulum (they have one in town as well on the beach road) Ana y Jose in Tulum on the beach road La Lunita in Akumal La Buena Vida in Akumal check here for more info Riviera Maya Restaurants
  10. It is that time of year. It's hard to say when and where they will be as they tend to drift with the currents. A beach can be affected one day and not the next. Unless a person is extremely susceptible to stings, the likelihood of having 'bites' all over is extremely rare. If you are affected at all it is usually in areas that your bathing suit covers. Pleasant huh? The sea lice (jellyfish larvae) get trapped in the swimsuit fabric and sting when pressure is put on them or when you rinse off with your suit on. I had the misfortune of getting hit by the sea lice one year. I was very unhappy for days. But, I was the only one in my group who had any effects. Some people are just not affected by them like others are. I am just unlucky that way.
  11. I am up for just about anything myself. All those restaurants would require a subway or cab ride to get down to that area. But, there is really nothing worthwhile around the port area anyway, so getting in a cab or on a train would be necessary.
  12. That 'artist', the people who owned the gallery and anyone who went to see the 'exhibit' do not deserve to live. Starving to death would be humane compared to what I think should happen to them.

Aside from everything everyone else already mentioned, the only thing I can think of is to get a second job and put the cash from that into bills. Bartend on weekends or even school nights if necessary, private tutoring (FI is a teacher right?), etc.

  15. I always use National and have never had a problem. If you do a google search for 'national car rental coupon codes' you can find a whole bunch of deals. Dropping the car off at a different location usually costs a whole bunch of money if they even let you do it. Keeping the car for the extra time would probably save you money or at lest break even.

  17. I'm a bit late to this one, but.... I'm going to piggyback on Ann's advice. 1. When you say that it's not him that you don't trust, it's her......what you really mean is that you don't trust him around her. If you thought he had golden intentions and unwavering fidelity, it wouldn't matter what she did because you would know that he would reject anything she tried. Not saying that it's bad to think that way, but placing the blame on her instead of him is not right. 2. Ann was right that it is his responsibility to tell T what he wants to happen, not yours. And he can't shift the blame onto you when he talks to her. Otherwise it comes off as "I don't really want to stop talking to you, but I have to because of Jenny". That gives her an open door to keep on behaving like she is. 3. As for the wrestling match........ whether you were there, walking towards them or 1000 miles away it is his responsibility to stop shit like that from happening. That just aint right. That should be stopped by HIM not you because he does not want to disrespect you whether you are there or not. 4. You can't try to convince your future sister inlaw about this girl either. It's not your place. Even by 'giving your side of the story' you are trying to get her to think about T the way you do. Especially if she and T have been friends for 10 years. She obviously sees something in T that makes her want to be friends with her and it's not up to you to change it.
  18. I doubt you will find any free guides unless you can get some from something like the USVI tourism board. Otherwise.....find a bunch of stuff online, put it all together and print em out.

Buying used equipment from Amazon or even one of the big photo stores like B&H is easier than wading through all the scams, crap and more crap on Ebay.
  20. There is a group in Akumal (Riviera Maya town) that is trying to get legislation passed to make touching or harming marine life a fineable offense. That includes sea turtles, coral, shells, fish, etc. This would apply mainly to tour companies. If a person in a tour group breaks the rules, the tour operator will be fined. I think it is a great start to preserving what is left of the reef along the Riviera Maya.
  21. If you are planning on seeing ruins in Belize I gather that you have some interest in Mayan ruins? If so, you owe it to yourself to go see Chichen Itza. It's one of the wonders of the ancient world. I plan on going there next time we are in Mexico. Like someone said to me.... "If you were two hours away from the pyramids at Giza, would you say 'eh, it's too far'"?
  22. Good info Tammy And a bump to keep it up there on the forum
  23. Honestly you would probably be better off buying a new one on Ebay. The price might not even be that much more. The difference though is that you should get a warranty with it. What I do with camera equipment sometimes is to go to a store like Best Buy and try everything out and see what I actually like in person. Then I shop around online for the best deal. If you buy one on ebay, make sure it is from a legit seller with a bunch of positive feedback. Then check to see if there is any kind of warranty or guarantee that it will work. Then make sure that things like the battery are included. A lot of places will scam you by not including certain things that should be in the original package. You can get good deals on Ebay as long as you're careful and know what you're looking for.
  24. Did she give you a reason? Did you tell her to f**k off and find you a flight on the day you were supposed to leave? Did you check if another airline has service on that day? I just did a quick search and found at least 105 flights leaving Toronto and going to Punta Cana on November 19th. Am I missing something here?
  25. It's mainly flights involving the MD80 planes that AA uses for a lot of domestic flights. Those planes are relatively small and used for domestic flights and connecting flights. Not for international flights. Even if the flights out of NYC connected somewhere to get to Jamaica, they would not be using the MD-80 planes. As far as I know, AA is back on schedule now anyway so any mishaps when you travel in May will not be related to this recent problem. Are you flying on American Airlines?
