Some people have mentioned staying at a hotel in the city as well and possibly doing brunch on Sunday. The idea Karen and I had for Saturday was a harbor cruise around Manhattan. We thought this would be fun for the people who have never been to NYC as well as us veterans of the city. There are some links below that Karen found for reasonably priced cruises. Take a look at them and we can all start to decide on what we want to do. The cruise thing is far from set in stone though. While we think it could be fun, there are a million different things we could all do together. So post up your thoughts and ideas everyone. 4. I don't know a whole lot about it. But, my sister and her boyfriend are staying at the Viva Wyndham Maya in May for a vacation. I am sure that I will hear all about it and see some photos. I would be more than happy to pass along the info.
  5. So, basically they are requiring a $500 fee and a three night stay. Then...if they feel like it they can also check the photographers credentials to make sure they are legal to be there. It is two separate issues, that they are sort of trying to link together. What I would surmise is that on top of the $500 and three night stay, if they feel like it they can hassle your photographer for their paperwork. If your photographer does not have all their t's crossed and i's dotted...... guess who will be photographing your wedding.....the resort photographer, and probably for a hefty fee. I would raise holy hell with them about this.
  6. El Careyes does look very very nice. Great work also! Looking forward to the Thailand ones too.

Thing about it is, its not just the water, but the whole vibe and the peacefulness of the beach. Thailand RULES. Next favorite place was a little place South of Puerto Vallarta called El Careyes. We shot a Wedding at the El Carese resort which is a Starwood property and simply AMAZING. They have a private cove which was freakin amazing! Tons of faves but those 2 spring to mind. cheers, Gino and Heather Come on now...you can't tease us like that and then not put up any pics! I would love to see some photos of those areas you mentioned.
  8. The Playa Mujeres one is North of Cancun towards Punta Sam The Riviera Cancun one is South of Cancun technically in the Riviera Maya near Puerto Morelos.

I'm afraid with some of my coworkers the lack of an "and guest" on the invite isn't clear enough. Any suggestions - something else I can put on the invite? If I were you, I would definitely make it crystal clear. I think most people automatically assume that if they are invited to a wedding that it includes +1. If I were invited to a co-workers wedding in another country (that I had to pay a good amount of money to get to) and was told that my wife was more than welcome to travel along with me but was not invited to the wedding.....I would 'respectfully' decline the invite. I understand that you are putting out a lot of money for the wedding, but from the guests perspective they are putting out a lot of money to get to your wedding as well. I am not meaning to be rude or anything here. Just some food for thought.
  10. Look at that.... 2 months in a row of me getting my s**t together for the signature theme. That is my new favorite flower. I got the tattoo to commemorate our wedding and all that it means to me.
  11. Honestly, if nobody told me we were in a recession, I would never know it. I work for a civil engineering company and for whatever reason we are still as busy as ever with new construction projects. I have as much overtime available as I want and my pay level is pretty good. The housing market scares me a little seeing that Karen and I want to buy a home at some point. Hopefully we can do it when things are a little better. I am really sick and tired of gas prices, food prices and everything else prices going through the roof. I was pumping my $3.50/gal gas the other day remembering how just a few years ago it was around $1.50/gal. Nobody's salary is increasing at that kind of pace. As prices go up our salaries are not catching up. We are effectively losing money because of rampant inflation right now. I can't complain though. We are still on the 'at least two vacations a year' plan and life is good.
  12. Congrats in advance Heidi!! I hope you guys have a great time, a lovely wedding and a fantastic honeymoon!
  13. Thanks again everyone! I had a wonderful birthday. We had some family over for pizza and wings on Saturday, I got a lot of great gifts and I got an ice cream cake! Karen went all out and got me tickets to 3 Yankee games for this season. The topper is that one of the games is Old Timers Day at the stadium. Next to the World Series, that is the absolute pinnacle for any season. I can't wait!
  14. You could also check into getting a suit made for him. It's not always really expensive to have done.
  15. THanks everyone!! I am leaving work in a little while and then it's birthday time! And thank you to my lovely wife for starting the thread. I sure do love you too.

There have been a lot of Cancun weddings and a lot of reviews on this forum. That will give you some ideas of resorts to check out. Other than that, start looking at hotel websites and see what they offer for weddings and start to narrow it down. Go to a travel agent or even shop around online to get some price quotes for packages to places you might be interested in.
  17. Quote: Nice to here the mans perspective on it, so what makes total sense to you, most women here see as crazy, hmmmm interesting:) You do know Jason that women don't care who does the work, all they care about is that the works get done. I would never look at Everton as a failure, he works harder for our family then any man I know. We don't expect the men in our lives to be Super hero's, well except maybe sometimes, wink, wink! We love you for all you do, and don't really care about what you don't do:) and for the record I don't think letting Karen down is something you need to worry about So take the freakin help when it's offered already I aint saying it makes sense, because it doesn't. It's just part of how our brains work I guess.
  18. Hey there Kelly. I gotta admit....as irrational as it sounds......I would probably be the same way. It's not as much about the friend doing the work as it is about Everton not doing it. Does that make sense? I would feel really weird about having a friend come over to do something that I had been meaning to do for a long time. I would kinda feel like a failure and that I let Karen down. So, yes its somewhat of a pride thing, but more that he wants to be the one that gets the job done for his family.
  19. Thanks ladies! I will keep my eyes open for it and give it a try.
  20. Ok..... So.....WTF is sweet tea? Someone please enlighten this NY boy. Is it just sweetened iced tea? Or something different? Would I like it? Do you care?
  21. I am not sure of any off hand. I will definitely take a look around online for you and ask a few people who are in the know. Any particular city you are looking for? Is the Big Island the main one with Honolulu and all that? I have no clue about Hawaii. One more thing.. What style tattoo are you guys looking for? Just curious as there are artists I would go to for certain styles but would not let them touch me if I wanted different styles.
  22. The drive time depends on how you are getting to the resort if staying at Dreams Tulum. If you rent a car or use a private transfer service (not always more expensive) it is only around a half hour past PDC. Actually its more like 20 minutes since all the RIU resorts are on the south side of PDC. We drove from Dreams Tulum to Playa a few times to go hang out and it was a relatively short trip.
  23. 7AM can bite me. All it means is that the cat has finally succeeded in waking me up, time to take the dog out and try to get ready for work within 20 minutes. I am evil in the morning. Coffee does not erase the evil either. On weekends though I pop out of bed around 6:30 with no problem. Head to the other room to watch some soccer and lay around for a few hours till I go to work if it's a Saturday.
