  1. I fought with the idea of maternity clothes for sooooo long. But eventually you have to give in to be comfy. My friend is like 9 weeks and she just came by my work and is borrowing my bella band. She's fighting maternity clothes too
  2. Yep - the bella band worked great for me. I also used a pony tail for awhile and that actually worked fine for me for several weeks. Just put it though the hole of your pants and loop it around, then wrap it around your button several times. No need to undo it while going to the bathroom because it stretched
  3. o.k. - girls only until the end of the night. We really enjoyed the area the night we went, and told ourselves we would go back, but of course haven't. We'll have to go back one night. Rach - do you know where Mattito's is? Here's directions. Mattito's Tex Mex
  4. I would definitely be ok if D&M meet us for a drink. Heck - they can come if you girls want to invite them for the whole night...if they care anything about listening to us gossip. I have no problem with that at all. o.k., let's do Mattito's. And Jaime - I've always love their rita's.....humm...the blues ones - right? As for the Bishop Art district - I've been there once and really liked it. We went to Cafe Madrid a few months ago. It was so yummy!
  5. That's funny Rach! I told James we were getting together Sat. night too. He just rolled his eyes and was like oh god. I invited him (because I knew he would give me a he!! no) and he laughed and said no - of course. Do we want Mexican food or does it matter? I know we've come up with a area - off of McKinney Avenue in Dallas. There are a few options around that area. Mi Cocina Manny's (it's ok) Mattito's Looks like I covered all the "M's" haha....anyone else have suggestions? My brain is not turned completely on this morning!

I know we will figure something out, but I seem to worry about everything now! So, maybe Noah does like the left side? I just thought he didn't like it because he moved so much. You explanation makes better sense, CheeseDiva! I think I might have registered for those pacis. I know I put 2 different ones on the list. And don't stress about the crib. Seriously. We were going to get one like that, but we found one we liked better. We were just going to do the velcro thing. The bumper is not going to be on there forever anyways. I'm proud of you for turning down dessert. It's so hard to do. I never ate dessert before, so that is one of my fav parts of being pregnant.
  7. ROFL!! o.k., you got me!! Uuummmm....I don't remember....sorry!! I don't think they are around anymore

There are alot of things that are done differently in the US than in other parts of the world, but that's the great part about living in the US. Choice. Most of you know I'm an OB RN. I work in Labor & Delivery, and I'm also a Special Care Nursery Nurse. I assist with circs. All of our babies are given lidocaine and a sucrose-dipped paci (which btw, non-nutritive sucking is found to be a much stronger analgesic than pain medication, do some research on it- it's really interesting, esp. for those of you that might be against pacis). Then the babies are given Tylenol for pain and the circ wound dressed with cold vaseline (also for pain relief) and gauze. So to say that they're not given anything for pain is completely false. Is it pleasant? Nope. Is it natural? Nope. Would I have my own child circumcised? Yes. Why? It's a personal choice. Do I think people that aren't circumsized or against circumcision are wrong? Nope. But I'd like to see the facts straight on both sides To me there are so many things that are "unnatural" that technically are on the same line as circumcision- and if you want to go with the "babies are perfect just the way they're born" notion- what about babies with defects that can be corrected with surgery? What about cleft lip/palate babies? Are they perfect? Would it be better to leave them in their natural state? In many parts of the world where there isn't access to medicine people are left that way. I think those that get to have the surgery would probably say they are much better off. Totally not the same thing as a circumcision, but definitely my favorite rebuttal to the notion that babies are born perfect. Unfortunately not. So to those of you that won't circumsize. Kudos to you for standing up for something you believe in. And to those that will, the same. It's a decision between you, your s/o, and in the future, your child. It's no one else's business. Don't let anyone make you feel bad no, despite your choice. Off my soapbox now... Thank you very much, Sarah, for your point of view. I agree with you 110%!

My mom is creative, I am sure she can think of something. I wouldn't worry about it. You and your mom will definitely come up with something. Like I said, we were just going to do the velcro that is sticky on both sides and put the ties down the back so you couldn't see them. No biggie! I think we felt an elbow or foot or knee or smething the other day, it was round. Or felt round anyhow. I think I already told you guys that! We are getting so far along! Yay!!! Yes, we are getting so far along. I still can't believe it's going to be here before we know it!!!! I'm thinking Noah "likes" your left side and that's why he kicks.. he gets more oxygen when you're on your left (or so they say). That's why if you haven't felt the baby in awhile you should lay on your left side (or switch positions if already there). My baby girl loves it, she also loves brownies and ice cream. lol (both make her kick like crazy) Luke loves when I eat. Period. It takes about 10 minutes after I'm done and he jsut starts going to town. It cracks us up!! I did a majority of my registry online based on reviews and suggestions from the BDW moms.. I used it like a shopping list for myself but then added items when we went into the store. I think our wedding registry was tougher because at least this stuff is "for the baby" and not just me and my DH. lol I did use the advise of the ladies on here as well. I started my registry on-line and had several items I knew I wanted for sure on there. But as far as other things like bath stuff and pacifiers....I had no clue.
  10. Oh that stinks. Yes, you will have to meet up with us next time. o.k., so is it just me, Jaime and Rach?? Where's Maria?? Oh Maria....come out come out where ever you are!! Here's our group from last time THAT jAIME STOOD US UP AT!! (btw - I have that same shirt on today....my belly is totally buldging out of it!!)
  11. Martha - I love the furniture and bedding!! We actually looked at that bed style, but was concerned about the back being solid and not being able to tie the bumper to it. James said if we bought it we could just attached with velcro. I'm sure you can make it work. Did you think about it at all when you guys were looking at it? Just wondering if I'm the only freak that thinks about everything. We also looked at the ocean type of bedding. I love it!!! I can't wait to see Noah's room. As far as registering - - I took my friend with me. I had no clue and did not want to subject James to the torcher. We went through every aisle and I just got everything that she suggested and loved. Made it very easy for me. That's funny that Noah doesn't like the left side. I don't think Luke has a preference. I have started to feel body parts though when he moves. It's crazy!! It's alot more than just a kick here and there. Like he's big enough now to where I can feel the leg or head.
  12. So I'm starting to get uncomfortable at night. It seems like it takes an act of congress to turn from my right to my left side. I have to take my pillow with me when I turn, I swear it takes 5 minutes to get resituated. Sucks! Also, my belly botton is about to pop out. I thought it was going to go flat and stay that way. But noooo. I can see it sticking out of my shirts a little. Grreat! So it shouldn't be too long before I have a real outtie.
  13. Oh that sucks Morgan!! At least you just backed it up.
  14. 7:00 is good for me. I haven't told James that we're meeting yet I'm sure he'll be fine with it. He "might" even come along, but I'm not crossing any fingers though. Are we still thinking McKinney Avenue area and Mexican food?
  15. It's just so sad. They just got finished filming a movie together too. It's crazy. I still watch re-runs of Bernie Mac every afternoon
  16. I personally wouldn't use it. It is a little freaky. But, if you say it's you, then I say go for it.
  17. I was just looking foe this thread to bump! I'm still in!! It also looks like I will be my own DD....lol!! I do not care where we meet either. What time are we thinking? Like around dinner time?? I will most likely not stay all night, as my bed time is around 9ish these days. Plus James is only home on the weekends these days, so I like to spend as much time with him as possible. But either way, I will definitely hang for a few hours.
  18. I know - they're crazy! But I guess when you live with them and you're use to them, it's nothing to all pile in the car and go to the store.
  19. Mo - don't let it drive you crazy. I focus on one thing at a time. And yes - most of our parents did bad things and we all turned out fine. If we mess up - it really is going to be ok!
  20. Argh...I ahd to put the trash out last night since DH is out of town. Trash stinks!! No pun intended...lol...
  21. I just watched 4 episodes in a row last night. I record them because DH doesn't really like watching it. I watched the episodes where the little kids got new beds. Crazy! How would you like to walk into a furniture store and see 8 little kids running around trying to pick out their new bed. They were cracking me up!!
  22. That's o.k. - I drink out of plastic water bottles everyday too Martha - I did get my furniture and mattress at JCP. The bed & 4 drawer chest is very sturdy and very nice wood. I was surprised with the bed. I was use to the ones in the stores wobbleing, but ours does not. Maybe because James did a fantastic job putting it together . Anyway, we still need to put the changing table together. Prolly do that this weekend. I haven't looked into Dr Brown or any other bottles. My friend loves her Playtex bottles and so does her daughter, and I'm not one to research and try product after product so I am just going to use what she loves and let Luke decide if he likes it or not before I need to try other items. Mo - Have a great time on vacation and I hope you are able to enjoy it and eat some yummy food.

  24. Speaking of natural crib mattresses....I unpacked our new mattress last night. I knew we got one that had air flow, but wasn't expecting what I saw, and not sure if I like it. It's like trampolin material. Weird. It's the HALO Active-Airflow Crib Mattress. The blue part is the trampolin material - and the white part around the edge uis hard plastic. There is also a filter and fan in it to keep the air flowing. What do you girls think about this? JCPenney : HALO® Active-Airflow? Crib Mattress
