  12. I struggled with this too...I'm also established in my career with my name and have an attachment to it. I ended up hyphenating...I changed my name legally, but still just use my maiden name in business. It's too much of a pain to re-establish and explain in business..BTW, my hypenated name is ridiculous with my long first name, but I couldn't give up "my" last name. Good luck with your decision.
  13. The only item had confinscated was freeze dried rose petals. My candles and other decor made it through safely. They also reviewed my receipts to make sure I was under the declaration limit. So bring your receipts and if you are bringing items worth over $300 ( i think it was $300) try having the stuff divided between a few people and give them the corrosponding receipts. Some gals didn't have a single issue...I got stopped after they x-rayed my bag and saw all my stuff.
  14. hmm..I booked Suzanne Morel for my hair and make-up and I actually expected an assistant or a different stylist to show up, but Suzanne showed up in person with an assistant. If I remember correctly I think that a few of the girls on here have gone to the salon for their trial and that there was someone there to translate to make sure you could communicate about the style you wanted. I didn't do a trial, but like I said I ended up with Suzanne in person. I personally think that if you did the trial first, you'd be fine day of because the person who does the trial and makes it perfect for you will be the one who does it the day of. anyway that's just my 2 cents.
  15. Welcome! I was a Cabo bride, but I'm sure you'll find lots of good info in the Jamaica threads...Good luck and happy planning!!
  16. Welcome!! Let us know if we can help with anything!!!
  17. My contract was pretty much the same as above...just a different room rate. We also didn't have a ceremony fee as we had the 10 room block and had our reception there at the palapa. Irma always seemed really busy and I often had to email her a couple of times to get a response or she would take about a week to reply. I also hired an outside coordinator and would highly recommend doing so...often there are multiple weddings at the same time...there were 3 the day of my wedding (a Saturday)
  18. Wow!! That is great news!! Thank you Tammy! ....and Congratulations!!
  19. Forgot to mention..... I hope you feel better soon!!
  20. that stinks! If it were me and I absolutely had to go in, I'd be passive-aggressive and really play up the sickness big time hoping for sympathy even knowing there would probably be none. I hate when people go to work sick and get everyone else sick....we deserve time to rest and re-coup.
