Lisa~ do you need a certain amount of guests to have dinner at Chili's? I can't believe you have 57 booked, that is so awesome!! are they mostly family or friends? are you also having an AHR?

Sorry I haven't had a chance to post pics of my dress- I will try to get on that.

Ladytrunk- are you having any problems with bringing EM in for photos? The resort said I could bring outside photog but they could only arrive 1 hr before wedding- anyone else going this route or are yall all booking them a room?

I did also want to ask when they start to give the limits for a private reception. The only limit so far is just for 27 guest minimum to hold the restaurant, but no quote yet on making it private. (private only for the Brazilian Boto Fogo Restaurant)

Here is a copy of the message I received on Monday:

If your wedding group is over 27 people, it will be accommodated during the second seating at 8:45 pm for dinner at:

- Chillis, is an open air restaurant, close to the beach area, tropical and informal, or

- Bota Fogo, has A/C, it's formal, Brazilian Rodizo style with a classic atmosphere.

There is a theater for nightly entertainment at Riu Palace Riviera Maya and a main discotheque open from 11 pm to 2 am at Riu Tequila to continue the party. In case you are looking for a private reception, the Bota Fogo could be offered for three hours (subject to availability) with an approx. extra charge of 1,950 usd which includes:

-Dj and dance floor.

-Sound system with Cd player or i pod connections with a microphone in case that you require it (a connection that plugs onto the top (headphone jack) of the ipod it is an ipod touch it does not fit.

-Drinks of the restaurant: red and white wine, beer, sodas and water, served by waiters.

*If you prefer open bar instead beer, red and white wine and sodas there will be an extra charge of 9 usd per person.

OK girls I need some advice...

I am considering going back to school which would put the FI and I in a tight financial situation. We will be able to make ends meet but we won't have much left over. My parents are paying for the wedding and AHR. We are having a traditional AHR at a country club in my hometown....

We were planning to have a group of 20-30 people join us in Mexico, but now I am re-thinking and here's why:

My dad is saying that if we elope or just take like 2 sets of friends he would give us the money he would have been paying towards Mexico to use for savings/other expenses. The more I think about it the more I wonder if the FI and I should go down to Mexico with like 4 close friends and forget inviting a big group. This would save us in terms of the wedding package and save my parents on travel expenses. Its so hard for me to stay if I will regret it or not...I'm totally conflicted and I don't know what to do!

Are any of you only taking a few close friends?? any thoughts on thishuh.gif

HELP!

Shellk- I never imagined the big wedding in a church with the poofy dress...which is why i chose a destination wedding. As much as I would love for my parents to come, I think it could be really special if it was more focused on just the FI and I....

What prompted your decision?

Hey Guys!!! I am sorry I've been MIA since my 'big' 1st dress shopping announcement. GEEEZ it was horrible. I have no fam or friends out here, so I went alone. It was a hot day, I was hungry, irritated with traffic--- so on, so forth. But mostly I was NERVOUS! I was shaking. I love shopping more than life.....but this was bad. I forgot to get pics I was so nervous!

I went again tonight, and I'm pretty sure I found the one. I say pretty sure because I am still obsessing over the photos of two VERY different dresses!!! I will defnitely post photos tomorrow---and catch up on the past few days. Sorry for the rant, next time I will talk WITH you and not AT you!

Sammysgirl - I think it would be hard not having my family at my wedding but your parents are offering you something amazing too. This is a very hard decision you have to make and I wish I could help you more but I have no idea what I would do in that situation! sorry...let us know what you decide though

LadyTrunck - I was super nervous too the first few times I went dress shopping, I don't know why because I also love shopping and I had my mom and all my BM's with me. I think it's just the unknown part, we have never done it before so it seems a bit strange to us! I can't wait to see your photos!!

Josie - Have you picked anything for hair and makeup to show them at the resort?

I am trying to decide if I should have blond hair or dark brown hair for the wedding, usually I have blond in the summer and brown for the winter, so I like my hair both ways... all my BM's say dark. What do you ladies think??

My hair is long right now, these photos are older...

Yesterday I had my final dress fitting and paid for my alterations so I am so excited that everything for my dress is finally done and paid for!!! now I just have to pick it up a few days before we leave.

Is anyone else nervous about having thier dress in the room? I just thought about this the other day and now I am nervous. I just really hope nothing happens to it.

Oh, it's also my bachlorette party tomorrow night!!!! smile29.gif

I am soooo excited, I can't wait to see everyone and party it up!!! Just a prelude to our trip!!

Sorry for the long post...I had a lot to say apparently...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
