  1. I second StephyD's positive review! I was married at The Royal Playa Del Carmen on February 5, 2011, and Adrian and his team did my hair and airbrush makeup, in addition to my Maid of Honor's, mom's and mother in law's. We all had nothing but great things to say about him and his team..no one was the least bit unhappy with their work. Like most brides, I was worried about working with someone I hadn't met before...I didn't want to end up looking like a clown and unrecognizable on my wedding day! But after my hair and makeup trial the night before my wedding, all of that unnecessary stress went away. Adrian was so professional and really knew what he was doing. I didn't even have to give him much direction...I just told him I wanted something more natural looking, and he totally rocked it. Not only that, but we all felt completely comfortable with Adrian and his team. They were all a lot of fun and very easy to talk to, which is important when you're spending so many hours together in a hotel room! For that reason, I will always remember Adrian fondly when I look back on my wedding day and I recommend him to any bride who wants to look and feel totally fabulous on her wedding day Here are a few of close ups taken by my photographer, Erick Rodriguez, that may help. I think Adrian did a great job of making sure that my makeup lasted all day, while maintaining the natural look that I asked for.
  2. I created some brochures for my welcome bags, which I spent a whole lot of time on, so I thought I'd share with anyone who may be interested. I'm not able to post files or pics yet (I read more than I actually post on here, unfortunately! =P), but I just posted some photos of it on my blog, http://apaperproposal.com/?blogID=141, along with what I included in my bags, what I'd do again, and what I wouldn't have, etc. Hope it helps someone! ~ Sarah 2.5.11 The Royal Playa Del Carmen
  3. Hi all! This thread, in particular, was such a huge help to me when I was putting together my own welcome bags a couple of months ago, so I wanted to make sure that I shared mine now that I'm a married woman! I'm actually not able to attach photos yet (I read more than I actually post on here =/), but I do have some pics and a full recap of mine on my blog, http://www.apaperproposal.com. Here's a piece of the post, if anyone is interested... Looking back, I think that the one element of my wedding that I spent the most the most time on was the welcome bags. It was my big "DIY" project that was really important to me because I wanted all of our guests who traveled a long way for us to know how much we appreciated them making the trip. I'll admit that it was quite the chore though, trying to get 21 travel mugs and a whole lot of meds down to Mexico without getting it all taken away by customs! Because I knew that we had to travel with everything, I didn't actually assemble the gift bags until we got down to Mexico, and it ended up being the only few hours that I was actually stressed during my whole stay! With that being said though, I'm really glad that they came together, and it seemed like most of my guests got some use out of it. I purchased all of the white gift bags on sale from the Wedding Channel Store. The tags attached are from Michael's, where I also purchased a "Thank You" stamp and a "Mr. and Mrs." stamp, an anchor shaped hole punch a la Martha Stewart and a silver ink pad. The tags were pretty simple, with a "Thank You" on the front and the punched out anchor beside it, and on the back, I had the "To" with the line, "With hugs and kisses from the Mr. and Mrs." I attached the tags with a navy blue ribbon, which I also purchased in mass amounts on sale at Michael's. Be sure to check the dollar items section in Michael's, as they almost always have some ribbon in a couple of colors for $1 per spool there! Moving onto the contents of the welcome bags...
  4. Yeah, I actually found out that Denise was on vacation, so they assigned me to Michelle instead. I'm happy to hear she's good to work with. she's been very helpful so far! I'm also working with Marvin, God bless him! I've been so indecisive on the flowers I want to use, and he has been SO patient and helpful the whole time! And his prices are much better than what The Royal PDC wanted to charge me. - Sarah 2.5.11 The Royal Playa Del Carmen Â
  5. Adorable! And really helpful, because I have plans to do some myself (bought the sticks a while back and everything), but wasn't sure how to go about it, exactly. Thanks for sharing! ~Sarah 2.5.11 The Royal Playa Del Carmen
  6. Hi Nikki, Interesting that you say that, because my previous coordinator, Claudy introduced me to Denys through email last week, because she was going to be taking over moving forward. I sent her a couple of emails with some questions, but received no response, and then today, I got a couple of responses to my emails (to Denys) from someone named Michelle, who said would be my new coordinator moving forward I wonder if Denys left or something... ~Sarah The Royal Playa Del Carmen February 5, 2011
  7. It's so nice to see so many February brides! I'm getting married on Feb 5th, and also have had Claudy as my planner...I actually paid off my balance last week, and she told me that she'd be introducing me to the new wedding coordinator onsite this week once she has "double checked everything" one more time. One suggestion for basecamp that may help...Claudy once told me that if you create a new message on the site, they sometimes don't get an alert that you sent anything. It's best to just keep replying to the same message...I guess they always get an email alerting them to your reply when you do it that way. ~ Sarah 2.5.11 The Royal Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
  8. I'm thinking that if things don't work out with my current MOH, I may just not have one at all. We're only have twenty people at the wedding, so we are only having a MOH and a Best Man... There are a couple of girls going that I could ask to stand up with me, but they've only met my fiance a couple of times, so I'm not sure it feels right.
  9. I'm going through the same thing with my MOH! When I first got engaged, she was so excited for me, and just seemed really happy to help me plan everything. Then, when it has actually come time for her to really come through, she's a total flake. she can't afford anything and her car isn't working, but then she runs off to vegas at least once a month. I think it might have something to do with the fact that she just broke up with her longtime boyfriend a few months ago. I'm trying to be understanding, and I'm long past the point where I'm not expecting much from her anymore, but it's definitely affecting our friendship more and more. We're actually not speaking right now (because of something completely unrelated to the wedding) and if things don't change, I'm not sure what'll happen. Ugh. I'm trying to not let it ruin the experience for me though, as much as I possibly can. It's nice to vent. Thanks for listening, ha! ~ Sarah 2.5.11 The Royal Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
  10. Really cute! I can't use the basket, but you reminded me that I need to get one of those "Wedding" signs. Etsy has some great ones... http://www.etsy.com/listing/64286149/wedding-signwinter-wedding-directional?ref=sr_gallery_27&ga_search_query=signs&ga_search_type=category&category=weddings&ga_page=&order=&includes%5B0%5D=tags&includes%5B1%5D=title&filter%5B0%5D=handmade&filter%5B1%5D=weddings http://www.etsy.com/listing/59342939/custom-wedding-directional-signs-4?ref=sr_gallery_37&ga_search_query=signs&ga_search_type=category&category=weddings&ga_page=6&order=&includes%5B0%5D=tags&includes%5B1%5D=title&filter%5B0%5D=handmade&filter%5B1%5D=weddings http://www.etsy.com/listing/62434174/beach-wedding-arrow-sign-custom-wedding?ref=sr_gallery_36&ga_search_query=signs&ga_search_type=category&category=weddings&ga_page=10&order=&includes%5B0%5D=tags&includes%5B1%5D=title&filter%5B0%5D=handmade&filter%5B1%5D=weddings ~ Sarah 2.5.11 The Royal Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
  11. This thread is absolutely amazing!!! I was so overwhelmed when I first sat down to work on my ceremony script, but I feel so much better now. I'm planning on using a little bit of everything. Thank you all so much! ~ Sarah 2.5.11 The Royal Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
  12. Super cute! I think I might get one for myself... ~ Sarah 2.5.11 The Royal Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
  13. First one - so light and breezy! PS...Good choice on the resort! We're having our honeymoon there. ~ Sarah 2.5.11 The Royal Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
  14. Cute! I like the little bit of sparkle Did you buy them as is, or dye them and everything yourself? I'm actually having the same kind of problem...I bought some flats that I LOVE for my beach wedding, but I had to return them because I have to get something with an inch heel so I don't step on my dress. It's driving me nuts, because it is SO HARD to find cute shoes with only an inch heel or wedge on them. I'd like to just buy some shoes and not have to dye them or add shoe clips or anything myself, but I feel like I've looked everywhere and I haven't found anything that I love...and I really don't want to have to settle on something unless I'm absolutely sure that I have no other options. *Sigh* We'll see! ~Sarah 2.5.11 The Royal Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
  15. I'm happy to hear that Vista Print produces quality stuff! I'm try to order everything at once so I don't have to pay a bunch of shipping fees, so I'm waiting to get a few more details settled before I place my order officially. Can't wait to be done though! ~Sarah 2.5.11 The Royal Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
