Separate Honeymoon Plans?

Recommended Posts

so happy i found this thread!  We want to do something separate too... we are getting married in costa rica... kids will be there but they are going home with my mom 5 days in... some guests are staying the entire time... so i was thinking we go somewhere else for the second week.  Im not sure where or if we should just stay in costa rica for another week?  that would probably be the least expensive option rather thatn catching a flight somewhere else...

nicaragua is very close so that may be an option if we can find some kind of transport...

We staying a few days with our guests before the wedding plus the day after then changing resorts for our honeymoon across the bay. Best of both worlds :)

@@bkprettygirl I was thinking about that too, whether or not we should leave to another country completely, that would REALLY give it that honeymoon feel! But I know the easiest and less expensive way to go would be to go to another resort. Either way, as long as you have some alone time with the new hubby it'll be good!

We haven't planned our HM yet, but my sister got married in Mexico last year. The wedding was in Riviera Maya and after a week with their guests they flew to Cabo for a few days and then flew up to California/Napa Valley for another couple days before heading home to Chicago. The time in Cabo at an all inclusive gave them quiet recovery time where they could relax, and then they got a little sightseeing in at the end.

We are getting married in Jamaica, where my fiance is from, so he doesn't want to honeymoon there. I'd like to at least stay a couple days in an adults-only in Negril though. I'd be fine doing the honeymoon separately at a later date as well. We'll see!

Here I get good ideas to spend separate time with my fiance which is also important. It will also make both be happier if you plan one or two separate activities on your honeymoon.

I was planning to do a minimoon to Disneyworld and a big honeymoon up to 6 months after the wedding depending on our schedules, i dont think i could stay another week at a resort as nice as it is

I like the idea of taking a separate honeymoon, at a later date.  Give myself time to come down from the wedding and give myself another holiday to look forward to.  I couldn't do two weeks at an all-inclusive.

We will be doing ours a few months later. We will stay with our friends and families for the week, however the day after the wedding we are doing our own thing away from everyone else ( not sure what this will be yet)

We will then go on our HM somewhere tropical during the cold Alberta winter :)

We are considering having our 'honeymoon' 6 months later or maybe having a really awesome trip for our 1 year anniversary. I think waiting a year would make it more special and be a nice way to  celebrate! :)

Going to another resort doesn't sound like a bad idea at all, and I'm sure your guests would understand you want some alone time. Just make sure you talk with your fiance about this and you both agree with whatever decision you'll take. Good luck and Congrats :).

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
