If People Book With Their Own Travel Agent...how Does That Effect Me?

Recommended Posts

Could the canadian ladies clarify something for me? My understanding has always been with a canadian group that the booking is with the tour operator, not the specific agent. While yes you want your group to all go throught he same agent, I had always thought that someone else could still get into your group through another agent because it was through the operator.

Is that right or wrong? Let's say someone is in Vancouver and your booking originates in Toronto. Could the Vancouver person use their own agent there to book with your group out of Toronto? Just assume that they were going to arrive in Toronto ahead of time and fly with you from TO. Could their agent contact Transat (just as example) and say I have so and so to add to the "Smith" wedding leaving Toronto on june 90th, 2050. Would their agent have access to the booking?

Thanks ladies. Curiousity is killing me on this one!!! lol (jk)

@@acw271011,

I was actually wondering the same thing. One of my guests said they will book using their own travel agent but will request to be in my group. I didn't question it because I didn't think it was possible. This person hasn't booked yet so I don't know if it can be done or not.

That's a very good question. I would really like to know this answer.

If any Canadian brides can offer some insight on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I have ran into this same issue. I have so far two ppl who have booked with other agents. My TA said I would need to add them to our wedding separately (our TA is sending a list to the resort). I have a spreadsheet to keep track and I also had each guest email me their confirmations once received.

@@kcole123 @@tygrrlily I'm just finding this forum now (way too late) and I'm getting nervous. I am using the same TA as you ladies (Kristy we posted about this before). Great comm, actually amazing comm, right from the start but it's booking time now; less than one month to go. I've heard really great things from a few that have booked and one not so great thing from another. I'm hoping it's taking so long to settle this couples booking because it's only 4 days, land only + hotel separately (more difficult?)

Fingers crossed your direct emails helped the rest of us brides out for the future (now!). No one needs that added stress and I'm sorry you went through it.

@@ashhtayy - Best advice is just stay on top of her.  I also found she'd reply a lot quicker when it was me directly contacting her about something for another guest

Hopefully she has improved!

@@ashhtayy - I know that my TA had to go back to the airline (Transat in our case) for any variations on the original package, and it did take a little longer. Also, with land only, she might be looking at other providers or trying to get your provider to price match. For land only, our TA found a cheaper rate with Sunwing and then got Transat to match it. Hopefully that's all it is and your guests will hear back soon.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
