Wedding Dress Shopping By Yourself?

Recommended Posts

Haha my FI is so useless with helping too. He acts like it's a big pain if I ask him to even choose between 2 things. All he has contributed with is crunching some numbers. I'm making him help me assemble our invitations tonight though, or it'll take me forever!

As long as he hands over his credit card when he needs to, I'm okay with that :D

@@pddcmc - Yes, please update on the dress shopping!!!

I already have my dress but I still have an appointment at Kleinfields at the Bay next month because they're opening one in Toronto! I have to go for the experience - but I know this can be potentially really dangerous too :P

no way!! you're going to go?? you HAVE to post an update when you do!!! I saw the ad and thought about it... but between what I know the Kleinfelds prices are and The Bay's prices are... I thought no way. I'll just get suckered into paying like $3,000 or something and not be able to get out of it!! The problem is I work at Queen & University so it's a short walk...

I love Friday nights and SYTTD. The ad says you can't get into The Bay without an appointment, but I would love to just go and look!!

@@acw271011 - Haha I'm not sure. The appointment is this Friday, but I might cancel it. My best friend thinks it's a bad idea because I"m very prone to falling in love with something completely out of my budget, esp when I already have my dress! But I just want to SEE it, you know? :D I was registering last weekend and I saw the Kleinfield area, but you can't even see IN unless you have an appointment

I would rather shop for the wedding dress by myself because I can choose my favorite dress in this way. If there are many people accompanying with me, they will have all kinds of opinions. And finally, it is hard to reach agreement  and that will make me confused.

Alright you've convinced me - I'll take one for the team! BUT if I come back saying I've fallen in love with a 5000k dress and what do I do, I'm putting that all on you :D

Yes Neiman Marcus, Saks, Nordstrom too I think! I know Yorkdale is expanding and we're getting a Jimmy Choo store too

Well you will definitely have to take a tough minded friend with you or something... lol so they can pull you back when you start drowning in a dress... !

Seriously though, it just seems like every time a high end US retailer comes here we end up the crap so I really am curious to know whether this is another one of those situations. We are so protectionist here that new stores that open up are forced to carry canadian made merchandise. Well, how many canadian wedding dress makers have you heard of? So my feeling is this will be a lot of hype for lousy product! And nothing even close to what the Kleinfelds store in NYC has!!

Good luck!

Well Ladies,

I found my dress. I ordered it yesterday at The Bridal House in Edmonton. Of course the sample dress I tried on is a little big in the bust and it's really long. So keep that in mind. I can't wait to get my dress now and get it altered to fit me perfectly.

Oh and I am looking for a different belt. That is just one they had in the store something similar to what I am looking for. I just wanted to have something on because I knew I wanted a belt anyway.

Yay! Congrats on finding your dress! Such a relief right?

Check out this shop on Etsy, they have reasonably priced belts (the one I tried on with my dress was over $500!!!- crazy!)

Also if you are crafty it is pretty easy to get a sash of ribbon and add some crystals or beading to it

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
