Any Playacar Palace Brides 2014?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if Playacar Palace offers steamers to get wrinkles out the dresses?  Does this cost extra?

Also, how did everyone travel with their dresses? I was hoping to keep it in a garment bag.

I am not sure about steamers but my mother use to be a flight attendant and has assured me that if we fly with it in a garment bag and let them know when we get on the airplane that they have a closet they can keep it in. Hope that helps, good luck :)

We are looking at Aug 31 and according to their website it's booked. Goodness gracious. I called and the ocean front swim up rooms are totally booked but she said there are some room openings. Just for our families are going to need 12 rooms. Then add friends in still. Rough estimate is approx 16-20 rooms.

I've requested a contact with the resort and with a travel agent so now just waiting on both to get back with me. I honestly didn't think it would already be filling up so quickly 17 months out.

Hi, are you talking about August 2015 been already booked?>

Hi brides!

A few months ago we shared a Same Day Edit production of a hindu wedding in the Playacar Palace

now we want you to watch the Highlight of that hindu wedding,

It is very interesting to know more about this culture trough the traditions of the brides and grooms.

Hope you like it,

Happy planning!

Hi Shelly!

I am getting married 6.14.2014 at Playacar! :D I decided not to use their photographer, the prices were just too high for what they're willing to provide. I researched all of this way back in Sept, so i cant really remember all the specifics other than you dont get much time, few prints, they dont edit the photos (if they do on a couple) etc. I ultimately decided it would cost  just as much to use as Ocean as me bringing my preferred photog with me to the wedding and paying for their stay (as a guest so no vendor fee).

Congrats!

Rachel

Really i just remember the value wasnt there for what they wanted to charge.

Hi Lindsey!

Love the photos. I was just curious if you used the decor from the rental company or brought any of your own? Did you use a local florist or the resorts?

Thanks!

Rachel

@@RachelHolmes21 Soooo glad you shared your thoughts on the outside vendor rules/fees when it comes to professional photographers vs. those on a hotel preferred vendor's list! Such a sticky topic!!!

It's important couples understand that many of the "preferred vendors" pay as much as 40% commission to be on these lists (they're driven by $$$). Although it seems like a great deal at first to save on a vendor fee there is no doubt each and every couple is still indirectly paying the fee (even with those on the preferred vendors list) as those photogs have significantly raised their prices to to be able to in turn pay the hotel the necessary commission. Not necessarily paying more for quality, service or final product!

Our best advice is to carefully look through and compare the packages (how many hours, number of photographers included, hi-res digital images included?, edited images?, album?, trash the dress session?, off resort rock the dress session?, do you get to speak directly with your photographer months before the wedding etc.) being offered by anyone you're considering and consider the quality and value with the total cost. :)

Best of luck future beach brides!

Hi Ladies!

I just got back from staying 10 days at Playacar Palace and had the most amazing wedding!! I know I havent been an active poster on this forum but after the wonderful trip I just had, I wanted to extend myself to help anyone who has questions or concerns. I don't have many pictures to share at this time but will do what I can if you need photos of anything.

i just read that someone was asking about a steamer on site. Yes- it's about $60-80, depending on your dress and the material. I ended up not needing to get mine steamed- it's humid enough there that the few wrinkles that happened during travel fell out within a few hours.

Also, we used Ivan Luckie as the photograher. When working the the resort coordinator, I never mentioned photos or their packages and it wasn't until we were onsite that they asked. At that point in time, I had already given them the names of Ivan & his assistant for the day passes and it was left as that. No off-site vendor fee! They also said they would charge us the $100 set-up fee for the decor that we brought and werent billed for that either.

We had amazing service, the resort is beautiful, and all our guests had a great time. Please don't hesitate to message me or reply if I can help with anything at all!! And I just posted my review for the hotel as well so feel free to check it out :)

@@dwbride2014 Glad to hear you had a great wedding there! This is one of my top choices (along with Azul Fives or Beach, Grand Velas or Beloved). I'm not too keen on the preset wedding decoration packages and have been trying for weeks to get information from the wedding consultant on options for decorations outside of the packages and have had no luck. At one point she said that I would have to book to see what decorations I could have....this seems really weird to me that you wouldn't be allowed to know what decoration options you have before booking your wedding there.

Anyone on here have any information on the al a carte decoration options? Or any information about the preferred vendors that they use (something else they don't want to tell me before booking)

Thanks!

I am planning a wedding for June 2016 at this resort. Any information you're able to provide will be great.Do you mind if I message you some questions I have?

Hi @@FutureMrsNelson

Congrats!

We got our groomsmen attire from Tommy Bahama

The groom and groomsmen are wearing the Sonoma Pants in warm sand

Groom has on the matching sonoma blazer in warm sand

Groomsmen and groom wore the Monte Carlo shirt in chalk pink ( I got the chalk pink a few months ago though, think they got new colors in for the spring)

Good luck! :)

Lindsey

Where did you get your decorations fir ceremony and reception? Was there a fee for this to be set up?

Hola Playacar Palace brides! Congrats on your upcoming weddings!    :) This post is for any brides interested in affordable decor for your big day.

I'm a newlywed from Vancouver, Canada that lives down here in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. I have quite a few decor items leftover from our wedding in May, mostly in a rustic vintage style. I've decided to rent things out to brides that don't want to lug things like vases & mason jars down here to Mexico, and have priced things quite fairly compared to the resorts' prices.

I have a lots of different types of bottles, mason jars, vases and lanterns, as well as a variety of other items like wooden signs & frames, table runners, rustic birdcages, string lighting, paper lanterns and even a portable sound system.

If you want a Style Me Pretty or Ruffled type of wedding in Mexico without a huge price tag, I'm your gal! So far no one has had to pay an outside vendor fee at all, as they tell their WC that they have brought the decor themselves. I'm also always interested in buying items that brides bring down and would like to sell after their weddings, please send me photos of anything you'd like to sell!

If you'd like to see some photos and a price list, please send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you all the info. Also if anyone has any questions about the area, ask away! I've lived in Playa Del Carmen for two years and know the whole coast quite well. Happy planning ladies!

Here's a couple of photos of some items we used in our wedding and that are for rent, but I have lots more available. You can click on the photos to view the larger versions:

Just got back from Playacar and we had the most AMAZING time!!!!  The wedding coordinator we worked with at the resort is seriously superwoman (I'm convinced she's the reason the rain held out until after the reception).  Her name was Mara and anyone working with her in the future is certainly in capable hands!

We had a few hang ups with spa appointments and such, but compared to how amazing our overall trip was, they seem insignificant in retrospect.  This wedding has been a year in the planning with Playacar and I feel like I know that place inside and out by now.  If anyone has any questions, my email address is dru.allison5@@gmail.com.  Please feel free to ask!

I also want to mention that we brought our own photographer with us for the trip but still got the hour long photo shoot that came with the wedding package.  The photographer Julia that took those photos was so wonderful!  She even worked well with the photographer that we had brought so all of the pictures from both of them are unreal.  I would absolutely recommend their house photographers to anyone that is unsure.  Such wonderful ladies!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
