BM dress drama

As some of you may know I decided to not keep my original dress and went for a more "gown" like dress. They (MOH's)decided to return their original dresses despite me telling them not to. So for the past few weeks there has been some drama over what dress to get. My older sister want to spend less than $75 on a dress while my younger sister undestands that isn't going to happen. I have given them two color options and my blessing. I feel like they are taking advantage of the situation and are now looking at black dresses. I made it clear that black was the emergency option--can't find an off the rack dress you like in red or magenta--go for black. I feel like I have been very open to this situation.

Tonight they were bickering over dresses and I felt that was the last straw. I told them if they didn't have anything figured out in two weeks I would ease the stress and pick the dress. Younger sister is pissed off!

Tell me I am in the right and not a crazy beeoch!!

I think you are being very understanding and easy. Telling them to get a dress in one of two colors and letting them pick it sounds great to me. Could you maybe narrow it down to 3 or 4 dresses and tell them to choose from them, that way you all get a say in the matter?

With only 6 months left they really need to get on top of getting a dress. So, I think you should pick a few dresses that you like and tell them to choose from those dresses. Or, go shopping with them and make them try dresses on and make them pick what they like. Can you all go shopping together?

Thanks ladies. I have gone shopping with them on several trips and wanted to pull my hair out.

They keep finding dresses online that I say I like then they keep looking to find the cheapest dress. I actually thought they were joking about this hooker dress but she liked it cause it was cheap.

I guess the guilt of having a DW is causing me to be lax on this situation as I know they are paycheck to paycheck gals and spending a lot on a dress is hard but I don't want street walkers standing up with me :)

I do like the idea of picking out 3 dresses and then letting them pick the one but I know they will just pick the cheapest so I will try to have them all be the same price.

You are being so nice to just tell them a color. How formal are these dresses?

I have always wished the bride would just give us a color & let us pick out our own dress. That way you can fit your budget & actually like the dress. They should be picking out things that they know would look bad just to save a little money. That's unfair to you when you've been really nice.

I feel your pain! mad2.gif I picked some BM dresses and asked the girls which they liked best. Once we came to a decision (in June), I asked that they get fitted and order the dresses no later than the end of September (delivery would then be in late January). So far, only ONE of my BM's (I have 5) has ordered her dress. Now, delivery times are already late February.

I understand these girls say they want to lose weight before ordering, blah, blah, blah ... but I just had to tell them that they can wait as long as they want, but if they don't have the dress in time, they won't be in the formal line-up. They have all had PLENTY of time ... and I told them if anyone had problems with $$ (which none of them do) to let me know and I would take care of it for them.

I don't know what else to do either. It is ssoo frustrating. girl_werewolf.gif I can not understand why your BM's can't follow simple directions either. I KNOW it is easy to find a red or magenta gown!!! Give me their sizes, I'll go shopping for them. lol. rant.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
