OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

Hi Ladies!

I have a quick question. My Fiance and I are thinking of leaving the Now Jade the day after we get married and travel to another resort about 45 minutes away which is still in Cancun but on the strip. My fiance's mom is really worried that it isn't safe for us to travel with the hotel transportation to another resort. I think it will be fine but she swears we will be kidnapped by cartel lol. Can anyone tell me if it is safe to travel through Cancun?

Thanks!!!

I haven't been to Cancun yet, but I can tell you that I have a few friends that go twice a year and they say they feel safe. They even ride the public buses! I'm sure you'll be fine! As with everywhere, use common sense of course! But I'm sure you'll be fine!

I am getting married in 10 days at Now Jade and I need a little advice. I had two menu options the  Beef steak or the Tuna Steak. I have printed off two different menus. How does a person get the guests to go to the correct seat at the table where the menu they chose should be. Do you have a table with pieces of paper that have their names on them and what table they are at. Then from there put each name on each place setting. That seems a little ridiculous but I don't know how ettiqueite says to do it when there are multiple menu choices. I would like the servers to have some clues as to which meal goes to who without asking them. I am sure if they had to ask them half the people would not remember what they wrote down.

I too have been trying to get ahold of Pilar I havent talked to her since I booked the package. Since everyone says it will all just come together in the end I have been trying to leave her alone. I requested a DJ but never got a confirmation what so ever. I would like to atleast be able to have the DJ's email address to requests specific songs.

I am making escort cards with each guest name and table # on them with a little logo for either fish or beef. I am going to ask Pilar to put them on a table either at cocktail hour or as you walk into the reception for the guest to grab. They'll find their name then sit at the corresponding table number. It doesn't matter exactly which seat they'll sit at as long as they place their place card in front of them, the server will know what to bring them. I'll just tell Pilar how many of each entree at each table.

I'm also doing menus, but they will all be the same, everyone is having the same 1st and 2nd course and for the entrees, I'll put both entree choices on the menu.

Hey Kelsey

I am getting married 2 days before you...maybe I will see you there.  I had been having troubles with Pilar getting back to me but she did email me back last night and even gave me a call and left a voicemail.  I tried calling her back but got disconnected by front desk.

I hope that you got some answers from her as well.  Thankfully I had emailed her because she hadn't booked the DJ yet for me but has now!!!

Maybe see you next week!!!

I know a few of us were taking a few pages back about whether or not the bride and groom were included in the 25 head count? Does anyone know for sure? I know it says 25 GUEST, but I just would like to be sure.

Hey Kelsey

You and I are getting married 2 days apart!!!  I hope that Pilar got back to you last night and she finally got back to me.  Good thing too because I guess she hadn't booked the DJ for us as requested, but she has done it now!!!  She actually even tried phoning me last night and left a voicemail but when I tried to call her back the front desk disconnected me!!!

I hope you get everything figured out and maybe we will see each other next week :)

Ashley

The misconceptions of safety in Mexico are really quite unfortunate.  Like any country, there will be locations that are safer and more dangerous than others. For the state of Quintana Roo (Cancun, Rivieria Maya, Tulum), you are the tourist strip and as safe as you can get.  Iâ€ve been to multiple location through Quintana Roo in 2009 and 2011 and have never felt any risk or danger.  Bear in mind that I also stayed in condos and often arranged my own transportation to get from one place to the next.  Also, there have never been any travel advisories or restrictions posted by the US government since Iâ€ve been vacationing to this location and this hold true for the updated advisories posted in 11/2012.

To ease the mind of your FMIL, it may take some research on your end to enlighten her.

I did find this out... the bride and groom ARE included.  I think it's silly since I don't consider myself a guest at my own wedding, but Pilar confirmed via email a couple weeks ago

Thank You!! I didn't think we would be in any danger but I just wanted her to read from other brides that we don't have to worry. Obviously whenever we go on ANY vacation you have to be careful but she just watches too many movies and shows. : )

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
