Thanks for taking the time to write such a thorough review. Your photos are phenomal and congrats to you and your groom! I do have a couple of questions whenever you get a moment: Did you have the resorts officiant marry you? if so what did you and your guest think of his/her accent, was it thick and hard to understand? What are your suggestions/tips for safely traveling with glass vases and avoiding items from breaking i.e. bubble wrap, hardcase luggage...?Thanks

We had a resort officiant and he was pretty easy to understand. I was worried about this too but it turned out fine! I had put together wording for our ring warming ceremony, our vows, and the exchange of rings so he basically just read all of that plus a few little things that he added. The ceremont was about 15-20 minutes long.

Your welcome! Yes, the resort picked the officiant.  I don't remember her name but she was really good. I was also worried about not being able to understand her but she spoke pretty well even with her accent she was very clear.  She did a good job and said really nice words. She read some kind of poem as well it was kind of giving advice. Not sure if they all have a different way of doing things.

Thanks for the feedback ladies. This is definitely reassuring since we will be scripting our own ceremony and it would be really unfortunate if our guests don't understand what's was being said.

Hey Ladies...I have yet another question :)  How many songs do you need for the ceremony.  I am in the process of trying to narrow my songs down!!!

I am also wondering this. I know probably 1 for bridal party entrance, 1 for bride entrance, but how many songs while guest are seated/waiting? How long in advance does the guest start to arrive at the ceremony site?

Since we seem to be on the ceremony topic I have a couple questions.

1) If you bring your own music who changes the song as needed?  (For example, bridal party entrance song then it needs to be switched to bride's entrance)?  Do you need to have one of your friends or guests do it? I am assuming you then rent the sound system from the resort?

2) Has anyone used live music for the ceremony? I was thinking of maybe hiring the guitarist but was wondering how you know what songs they play and what you can request.  Do they then change the music appropriately?  How do they know when to switch songs?

I hope this makes sense I am just so confused about this ceremony music thing!

I didn't have a wedding party so I don't know if yours would be different but I had 3 songs for the ceremony. One song played while everyone sat and my nephews walked dow the aisle, one for when I walked down the aisle, and one for when we walked back up the aisle. Hope that helps!

No, you do not have to have one of youe guests do this. They have someone there that will take care of it. I made a cd of the songs I wanted and gave it to Pilar. She gave it to whoever handled the music during the ceremony for us. I think you will be safe if you have your ipod or make a cd.

Hello Ladies!

I was originally have problems as well trying to pick songs for each part of the wedding so I know how frustrating it may seem! Here is a list of the songs I chose.  I put them on my ipod and handed it over the the wedding coordinator the day of the wedding and she takes care of changing the songs for you.  They have their own microphone and speakers set up as well. Usually guests start seating no more than 30 minutes in advance.  So I picked out 5 songs to play. I hope this helps!

Prelude

Because you loved me-celine dion
Amazed-lonestar
Everything I Do, I Do It For You- Bryan Adams
The way I am-Ingrid Michaelson
You and I-Michael Bubble

Processional
Can you feel the love tonight-elton john

Bride entrance

marry me-train

Recessional

I Do- 98 degrees

During the reception I picked the 3 main dances and let the dj take care of the rest! He plays songs based on the type of crowed you have.  He did a great job!

First Dance

Bless the Broken Road- Rascal Flatts

Father-Daughter Dance

you raise me up- josh groban

Mother-Son Dance

A Mother's Love by Jim Brickman

Thanks Uhaft!

This will come in handy! Did you have all these separated on your ipod as you wrote it here?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
