I will also have my 6 month old with me.. so add in a stroller, diaper bag, his luggage as well as the wedding dress and glass vases! Ugh, SCARY!!!

I'm wonder if there will be any brides at the resort while I'm there who are interested in renting or buying some of my decorations (vases, aisle runner, tissue pompoms...). HMmm

I may be interested but I think you may leave before we arrive.... we arrive May 5th.... what colour are your decorations? I am bringing my vases.... bought them at bowring on clearance and have 5 of them to bring.... we are giving 5 people one to put in their carry on to make sure they don't break! I am also travelling there with our 2 year old and understand your stress! We don't have enough hands to carry everything!!!

FI and I are taking the private xfr from the airport and thought it would be nice for us to have sheets for everyone with everyone's name on it and a space for us to fill in the room#. I suppose this is something I could doctor up in excel, just wondered if anyone had one already :)

      Thanks!

Not quite what you are looking for but FYI Pilar will give you a list of this (and ask if/how many copies you would like).  She offered it to us during the planning meeting (on day 2) since everyone had settled in their rooms and it reflected any upgrades (ie to preferred club).  Not pretty looking (just an excel doc) but got the job done.

And honestly, I think we were the only ones who used it...the resort is not huge so it was easy to find people wandering about or at a meeting place (ie lobby bar).  If we needed to call between rooms the concierge was very quick and helpful. Just a thought :)

Hey I am from ontario too and we just went into our local city hall office and got it on the spot..... but that was for one here.... are you getting legally married in Mexico or here? We are getting married here before we go and then doing a symbolic ceremony there

We decided not to get legally married there, once we added up all the extra fees for bloodwork, translations etc.  that's good to know we can just walk in, I'm sure it's the same in London.  Thank you !

Yes, we leave May 4th. My wedding colors are navy blue, ivory & light yellow. If you're interested let me know and maybe we can arrange to leave stuff with Pilar for your arrival. We have 30 pom poms in a variety of sizes.. the aisle runner is navy blue (still waiting for that to come in the mail).. I also have some navy blue cloth napkins. I can PM you some pics if you're interested.

The $15 per person per hour fee really bothers me since most people are only extending their reception by an hour or two anyway and what possible use could the space serve from say 9:00 PM until 11:00 PM? I have 38 people attending our reception, so 38 people x $15 a person is $570 for one hour and I would need two hours, so $570 + $570 = $1140. I know some people have said that Pilar has waived the extension fee or "forgot" about adding it on to the final invoice, but if we were required to pay I would say to heck with it and head to the sports bar for the last 2 hours of the night.

Sorry, mini vent there. Maybe I'm turning into one of those rumored creatures known as the groom-zilla. haha

The fee is not just for the use of the space, it is for the dedicated staff to your event - we extended our reception and had had at least 6-7 staff members waiting on us to ensure everything was going well, drinks were flowing etc.  I know it is pricey but looking at it that way may help explain the cost. Also Pilar gave use a deal - we had 35 guests and extended for 2 hrs so we dropped the $15/hr by a few bucks.

So... I was expecting to wake up today to a discussion about the killings two days ago in Cancun...  Is anyone concerned about this?

Authorities in the Mexican resort city of Cancun say they are investigating a possible link between a taxi drivers union and organized crime after an attack inside a bar killed seven people, most of them members of the union.

Quintana Roo state Attorney General Gaspar Garcia says the gunmen who burst into "The Little Mermaid" bar specifically targeted union members meeting there Thursday. He says the union's deputy secretary for conflict resolutions was among those killed.

Garcia said Friday that investigators have yet to determine who was behind the attack.

While Quintana Roo has not seen the levels of violence plaguing Mexico's northern border states, it is a major drug trafficking zone.

Several Cancun taxi drivers have been arrested recently for selling drugs or participating in drug-related killings.

It also goes on to say the shootings happened in a rural, low rent area on the outskirts of Cancun - away from the tourist area.  In Cancun, and any city for that matter, it is best to just stay in high traffic areas.  Unfortuantely, this will put some people on alert - my suggestion to our guests is that if they are concerned, just to stay on the resort for the week.  I live in Toronto, and just last week there were two shootings close by.

Actually I was told, and only just recently by Deisy our wedding coordinator at Now Jade, that the fee for sound system rental for the reception is $150 USD.  We have the Divine wedding package and the sound system is included in the ceremony but we have to pay for the reception.
