I was the exact same way before my wedding! As long as you don't get there and look for things to complain about I think you will be good. Sometimes I feel like people just like to complain and so they look for anything that they can to complain about!

There are so many friends and family members that have added stress and frustration to my wedding plans and Teresa is one of the few that has been a positive constant that I never had to worry about.   I first contacted Teresa in Jan 2012, signed our contract Mar 2012 after asking question after question, clarification ontop of clarification and posed every hypothetical scenario; I'm sure I was annoying.  Her friendly demeanor and responsiveness has never wavered.  And I've received great feedback from my guests who have booked thus far. Without question, one of my best wedding planning decisions.

I have a question about Teresa. I've contacted her twice and have received no response from her yet... it's been about two weeks. She was quick with communication at first, answering some questions, but now I haven't heard anything in a while.  I'm not frustrated because I'm sure she's busy. :)  Anyway, my question is how you worked out your contact..?  I don't know how many people are planning on going and I don't want to reserve a block of rooms only to be stuck paying for them later on.  I wanted my fiance and I to book our room through her, of course, but I wanted the option to give my guests her information so they could book through her if they wanted to... does that work or do I have to block rooms for them?  Any help would be extremely helpful.  I want to book with her very soon, but I need some questions answered first.. and you seemed to have asked a lot. :)  Thanks in advance!

I am working with her and love everything about my experience with her so far, super helpful, quick to respond, no issues whatsoever. With that said you will need to block rooms if you want your guests to work with her, I believe. You won't be stuck paying for anything as long as you release the unneeded rooms by the date set in your contract, hope that answered your questions? Let me know if you have anymore.

Itâ€s odd that you havenâ€t received a response from Teresa in over 2 weeks as I canâ€t recall an instance where a response ever took more than 36 hours. I would check the email address or maybe call her directly.

Any-who, answering your real question and hopefully not causing confusion... Keep in mind that I signed my contract close to a year ago and you never know when or how policies might change over time.

Benefits of a room block 1) secures the anticipated number of rooms required for you and your guest within close proximity of each other. This is especially beneficial if you are getting married between March and June when resorts can sell out due to spring break and wedding season. 2)Securing a block of rooms comes with the added benefit of reduced nightly rates for you and your guests.  The resort honors these reduce rates because you have made the contractual agreement to book ‘X†amount of rooms for ‘Y†number of nights. Both of these items can only be accomplished through a contractual room block.  For me, I didnâ€t see the benefit of having a TA if me and my guest didnâ€t have rooms secured at a reduced rate; why not just orbitz or similar?

I am having a small wedding and only anticipate +/- 25 guests.  My room block contract with Teresa is for 14 rooms and  contractually set up as a “social group†with a minimum requirement to reserve 6 rooms for a minimum of two nights per room.  I have a deposit placed (paid by me directly) at $100 per blocked room which is 100% refundable as long as I maintain the 6 room requirement.  I have the option to cancel the entire room block at 75 days prior to the wedding date at a penalty of $250.00 once the group agreement is signed – the balance of the deposit is returned to the bride and groom.  Alternatively at this time I can release any of the unreserved rooms from my block (while maintaining the 6 required rooms) at no penalty and get refunded the deposit associated with those rooms.  If you donâ€t cancel the unreserved rooms on your block when required to do so, then you will become financially responsible for them.  Note, that once your guest reserve a room off your block, than financial responsibility switches from the bride/groom to the guest.

Make sense? Let me know if you need anything else.

I am so glad to hear all of these good things about Teresa! I blocked 10 rooms and now I'm thing I should have blocked more. Do you know if we have more than 10 rooms booked the guess will gt a discounted room rate?

Thanks!  That does help.. a lot, actually.  I think I'm going to give her a call to chat about what I need and what we can work out. :)

Does anyone know how much Pilar would charge extra (we have the divine package) for this kind of fabric set up on the canopy and ministers table... ( we would just change colours to match our theme....

Many thanks in advance....

I'm not sure, but I'm curious about that as well.  Also, I wanted the brown set up as opposed to the white.  I'm sure that's extra.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
