- I feel like it will eliminate a lot of the invite/guest list drama, ie: parents say we have to invite cousins x,y,z that we haven't seen in 15+ years.

- And as part of above, I feel like the people who really want to be there, will make an effort and a commitment.

- And also feel it will eliminate a lot of drama my friends went through (although I'm sure I will have my own).

- We live in NYC and it is SUPER crazy expensive to have a wedding here, and I think it will be a little cheaper.

- I'm am, but I'm not into a lot of the traditional stuff... like a wedding dress. I can't see myself spending over like $200... so this gives me an excuse to wear something a little more casual.

- I LOVE traveling, but never been here before.

- I wasn't super crazy excited about planning anything here, but got into it with a DW.

My reasons are similar!

~ With a local wedding there is much more obligation to invite more people

~ Better chance of a majority of the invites to show up (even if you can do without it) whereas there is less of a turnout for a DW - saving you money and making it more intimate

~ Doing a wedding/reception is SOOO expensive in NY - a DW is more expensive than I thought but still doesn't come even close to the cost of planning something at home.

~ So much more planning goes into a local wedding - more stress!

~ It's one day/ several hours of celebration locally instead of a celebration/vacation for everyone

~ We love the beach :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
