Hello all!!

So I am feeling so frustrated and wondering if anyone else is feeling the same. My budget is getting blown out of the water due to the trickery of the resort adding up ridiculous costs. And the most annoying part is I cannot get the same answer-EVER!!!!! Ugh. I initially got an information packet that had costs and then the new coordinator (since the closed the Miami office) sent me new info with inflated prices. I read from a fellow bride on here that the outside vendor fee was no longer but the information says $500 per photographer. Thats ridiculous. There are also vague lines in the information packet such as "additional cost may apply for outside private events" or "additional cost may apply for music outside" I just wish I could nail down a cost and have some definite answers.

Also has anyone else contacted Zuniga for prices? I initially wanted to do the pearl shimmer package but when you break it down it seems like a huge cost for basically some decorations and then if you use the resort credit you are out all of that. I am so confused.

As far as PSAV does anyone know if we have to pay additional costs to use them? And do any of you have their information yet??

Thanks girls!!!

I am going to look for pictures that i want and send to her. To see if i get any prices! Then they tell me there is a 500 fee for photographer. I was told directly that Ocean Photo Studio's is there preferred photographer. If you use them, there are no day pass fees. If you go with an outside photographer there is a $91.00 day pass fee- but the $500.00 outside vendor fee does NOT apply anymore. I was told this same answer multiple times, so maybe just email your planner once more and confirm. I'm actually going with Ocean Photo Studio because the Pearl Shimmer package I purchased comes with a a photo session with them, so that was the easiest thing for me to do.

As far as the outside reception/private event costs- my sales coordinator broke this down for me. I undestand that you have a group contract correct? So if you earn enough hotel nights through that, then you get the private reception/cocktail hours at NO additional costs. You won't have to pay the $30.00 outside fees etc...

Those extra fees only apply if you don't qualify for the private functions/cocktail hours.

When I asked my planner about music, she only send me a info packet for JSAV. I read on this forum that PSAV is cheaper, so I emailed her for info on them. She hasn't gotten back to me. I'd love to use PSAV for music, DJ, etc...because JSAV had quite expensive :(

Hope that helps! I'm a little worried about the $300.00 fee per reception table for decor. But I'm only planning on 30 guests, so I'm fitting 1200 into my budget for reception tables. It would be a joke if I had to pay an additional $30.00 per guest to do an outside dinner. That's not happening. lol so hopefully they stick to their word.

Book it as late as you possibly can! My wedding was at 3:00pm on 7/28 and I was dripping sweat under my dress. Also, the photos will be better if the sun is not directly overhead. I'm squinting in all of my pictures. It is the ONLY thing I would have done differently.

What time did you guys book your ceremony for? I originally chose 4:00 p.m. but after contacting Del Sol Photography they suggested 6:00 p.m. for a July wedding, so I contacted my planner and she changed it to 6. The photographer told me the pictures would be beautiful at sunset, and with a 20-30 minute ceremony 6:30 would be a perfect time to go down to the beach and take pictures.

Just curious what you guys decided.

Also, I asked my planner to send me the music services brochure. She only sent me JSAV, however I've read on these forums that PSAV is an alternative that Palace Resorts used to offer and they're cheaper. I asked my planner to email me their brochure, but she hasn't gotten back yet. I am dead set on having a traditional type of reception, and would love to have a dance floor, dj, music, etc...but the costs are adding up quick :( I'm  hoping PSAV is considerably less money, and will help me afford at least a DJ.

Let me know what you guys are doing as far as music goes.

Thanks!

I signed a group contract and reserved 40 rooms. I had to pay my stay in full in order to do that. I was given a booking code, and people can call or use my online link to book. Every 15 days, I get an update of who booked so I can keep track of room numbers. My Wedding is May 24, and I am going with the 4pm time. I am using fine are studio as a photographer. I am also bringing in DJ Mania for music. I have not discussed food/decor/locations yet. I am just to busy with school and don't have time to worry about all that yet. I am doing the complimentary package. I am expecting 80-100 people, so I was assuming I would have to pay extra for food, cake, tables etc..? But I am not sure. I also believe I have to pay extra to extend the time of my reception. I want it to be at least 4 hours with a 1 hour cocktail party. I am not familiar with Zuniga...is it necessary to contact her? I am bringing a lot of my own decor. And again I was told there was a set up fee, but I am going to fight that. I was able to negotiate price lower than expedia/travelocity etc...so people actually want to use my code. This is a very confusing and frustrating process. I'm hoping the experience gets better.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
