I too have people who do not get along and need to be on opposite ends of a very long table (divorced parents) so I have made a seating chart for me to look at but I will probably just do place cards on the plate so people know where to sit.  With 25 guests it isn't too hard.

We are just doing a place cards and no seating chart. It is my hope that not many people will be sitting and if they do, it's only to eat for a few minutes. I want everyone on the dance floor for as much time as possible! : )

I am doing the same idea - seating chart for me to remember where everyone is sitting and then place cards so they know where to sit. Does anyone know if the WC usually looks after putting the place cards out?

For our AHR I am still undecided if I am going have place cards or just let everyone sit wherever bc we are not having a formal sit down dinner, it's bascially going to be tables full of appetizers.

Our WC has asked for our seating arrangement when we have it completed as she will be taking care of that for us.  Check with your WC to find out if they handle that at your resort.

I think it depends on the number of people yo are having at your wedding, under 50 I would say a seating chart is the way to go!

We're going to have about 45 or so guests... but I think we're just going to go with place cards and forget about the seating chart, less to bring with us down there... I hope our WC will take care of putting out the place cards, that will make things so much easier :)

We're having 30-40 guests, and we have divorced parents on my FI side (after 20+ years you'd think they'd be over it...) who cannot seem to behave. I'd like my parents to be at our table, but I can't do that without both of his parents as well. SO that means no parents at our table =( I have no idea how to place the parents. His dad and my parents get along very well, less so with his mother. Would it be horrible to put them together and his mother with some family that she'd feel comfortable with? I don't want it to look like i'm ostracizing at all. I really hate even thinking about this...

I think that you have to do what works for you! Seating arrangement is SO SO hard! I am still struggling.  If his dad and your parents get along seat them together, his parents obviously know they are being children and if they want to act like that you are going to have to treat them this way! (easier said than done but it sure sounds good!!!!)

Good luck, I feel for you!!!!!!

I think that is fine to put your parents and his dad together and have your FMIL with family that she likes and will have fun with.
