  1. Has anyone been in contact with Shades of Pale lately? I was having a great interaction with Amalia and ordered samples right before Chinese New Year, but I have yet to receive my samples and I got an answer from Agnes when I inquired as to where they were that she was resending them. That was still over a week ago. I had such high hopes after reading the reviews here and seeing her quote, but now I'm petrified. What if I do order from her and it doesn't get here in time? She just seems to have dropped off the face of the earth =(
  2. I'm curious about the wind factor too. Also, I wish I knew if I was working with long tables or round tables. That would help in trying to determine what types of arrangements I should be looking at. So much to consider
  3. how do you guys know what tables you will be having? Do you get a choice?
  4. That's a really smart idea. I really like the suggestions I've seen for games like playing cards and soduku. Not that anyone is going to be bored, but its nice to lounge and do something that simple and fun. Makes me anxious to be lying on that beach doing NOTHING lol
  5. Their FB pictures do look nice. I'm curious as to how they compare to Maya Floral
  6. me too! i just got some prices back from marvin (recommended elsewhere in the forums) and it seems that his prices have gone up quite a bit =(
  7. I agree with YWS2012, invite them and absolve yourself from any blame. Just expect that they wont come, you never know, they may surprise you. But you're right, you don't need friends like that. IF they aren't going to be happy for you and supportive then you are better off without them being there.
  8. I got my samples of the $99 fabric and the Irish linen yesterday! A. they got to me SUPER fast B. they were packaged very professionally, I'm pretty impressed C. I don't know which I like better =D Have any of you ordered the Irish linen vs the $99 cotton suits? Its a tough decision but both look really good.
  9. There were some killings in Mexico City recently, drug related. That's relatively a relatively new occurence. Nothing new or shocking has happened. People don't realize how huge mexico is...or how completely different the yucutan is. Sad =(
  10. I decided to go through a TA, I loved having them do the legwork and deal with the slow responses, etc. It kept me from stressing. Plus, family can make payments toward their stay to the travel agency. She answers emails at the craziest times of night sometimes =D Have a great time planning! I used Teresa Stauring tstauring@vacations4less.com

  12. We did a normal registry at a couple of places and just put links on our wedding site. I don't tell anyone about it unless they ask. I looked at the honeymoon registries and I just didn't like the idea of these places getting a cut of what our families and friends give us. To each their own though!
  13. I like the idea of doing welcome cocktails or "we're having dinner at X place, join if you're free". I'd hate to bombard people with all this formal wedding stuff; I'd like them to enjoy this trip as a vacation for them as well.
  14. You should do it when its easiest for you. The wedding police won't come after you if you find it easier to do it further in advance =D
  15. I think that my FI will appreciate a boudoir session more than a TTD session, not worth the money imo, but if you love it and can afford it then do it!
  16. My wedding is the day after yours! I'm mailing out my invites here in the next 2 weeks as well so sounds like we have great timing =D I love the idea of doing a welcome dinner, but maybe informal cocktails are the way to go even if there are no travel constraints. It may be a stuffy weekend if every event is formal. I think you are setting a great tone doing it that way!
  17. Thats why i was wondering, in your pics they look super nice. I though maybe in person it was more "beach" specific looking, but that's so great to know!
  18. I totally get you there. We've been engaged since '08 and we've been planning a wedding in Mexico for 2 years. Somehow people are still procrastinating and complaining. My own sisters can't save in 2 years to come, so i get the irritation that people "can't afford it" but make blatant decisions that convey that they can, in fact, afford it. I'm excited, but I'll be happy when this is all over lol
  19. I dont think that the club option is tacky at all. You should do what you would like to do! I heard good things about CocoBongo but we never made it there when we did a site visit
  20. i'm right there with you. If money was no object, we'd be doing it in spain and then spending a year abroad. I want to travel so badly it hurts
  21. Very smart. I go into a cleaning frenzy whenever we are planning on going away. It would be amazing to have someone else do the "deep cleaning" and I could just worry about the basics. Do it!
