So question to any of the ladies who have already been married? And please I only want the opinions of the ladies on here. No offense to the vendors on here but I want personal opinions for the ladies and not a biased reviews from a vendor. Did any of you ladies use the photographer that came with the package? How did you like the work? We really don't have the money in the budget to hire an outside photographer but I want to make sure I'm not completely disappointed with my wedding pictures either. Any and all help/suggestions are welcome from you ladies!

Thanks!

The following album from Moments that Matter photography has a good picture of the lanterns on the Tequila terrace.  I am planning to have these as well.  I was provided this link by the vendor on my recent "Newbie" post :)

I want to clarify something for those of you discussing the two polls on Tequila Terrace and the hanging of lanterns above the dinner tables. The poles are not stationary and you must rent them at an additional expense. You can hang lanterns above the dance floor area for free if you provide the battery operated LED lights. Here are some photos from my wedding. I had 26 lanterns and ordered them from justartifacts.com They have tons of colors and sizes and are very affordable. I had two sizes and two colors, but had 26 total. I used two lights in the larger lanterns.

We brought our own photographer with us from the US who has been doing weddings for 17 years. I wanted to have more control over the work and I was scared to use a Mexican company for fear that I would pay them and then never hear from them again once I returned to the US. My photographer took over 2400 photos during the weekend and was with us the whole time and documented every part of the weekend. Our photographer was willing to do our wedding in exchange for the trip to Mexico.  With as many rooms and guests that we had booked at the resort we earned 8 free nights at the resort (check your group benefits in your contract). We used 4 of the nights (we spent 7 nights at a different resort for the honeymoon), the photographer used 3 nights, and we got a reimbursement check for the other night once we got home. Basically we brought our own photographer for the cost of a plane ticket. We got rights to all the photos, an engagement session, and a Graphistudio 40 page album. The photographer got to use our wedding for his portfolio (he aspires to make destination weddings a big part of his business) and he got a beach vacation for a few days. It was win-win.

Our wedding package included 24 prints from the resort photographer. Since we were denied exchanging the photography in the package for something else all together we decided to have the resort photographer capture cocktail hour. Our photographer was going to miss cocktail hour anyway. To be honest, the photographs werenâ€t particularly polished. For example, there were pictures of other people taking pictures. Here is alink to the resort photographer's work. You can judge for yourself. http://erikaanddaniel.nowsapphire.adventurephotos.com.mx/#/s7-slideshow-2/

First of all your dress is stunning. I love the fact you are sipping on a cocktail while the 'maids are bustling your dress. HA! Anyways, that is an amazing AMAZING idea. I was thinking about bringing a photographer but was thinking it would be costly. I'll have to check to see if they are still offering the free night offer since we're getting married in 2013 and that deal may only be for 2012. But your right the pics were "OK" nothing that would make me stop and look twice. So you flew your photographer out for 4 days and 3 nights and that was the only real cost?? Now I'm going to have to call my TA and see if they are offering the same deal ASAP tomorrow. THANK YOU so much for input!!!

For a lot of reasons my fiance and I decided to book an outside photographer, but we are using a local company as opposed to flying someone in. Our wedding isn't until 4/27/13, so I obviously can't give you a review, but I can tell you that everyone I have been in touch with at Victor Herrera Photography has been wonderful! They are SO helpful and incredibly nice. We aren't using the main photographer (Victor) because using one of his associate photographers was cheaper and I thought their work was still great. Adrian will be the one photographing our wedding :)

Good luck!!

Thank you so much for your input! If you don't mind me asking a few questions but are you having to pay the $300 deposit or whatever it is to have the outside photographer? How afordable was it?

I forgot to ask you about if the resort charged you a deposit to have another photographer or no because he was a "guest"? Again thanks a million for all your input!

So the outside vendor fee is different for photographers. This is a direct copy and paste from Anel, "Regarding the outside vendor fee, we normally charge $300 usd per outside vendor, in terms of photographers, we do an exception and we charge a day pass per person $65 usd, because it´s something very special and delicate, but for any other vendor, we charge the regular fee."
