    Great advice!

I'd also add that the best advice I've received is to do as much planning up front as possible to save myself from stressing out as my wedding day approaches. Plus it enables you to find things for better prices. It's nice to have some time to not do wedding stuff and give yourself a break.

And I've found that the less people you bring wedding dress shopping, the better it is for you to actually find THE dress that you love; bring only the person or people whose opinion/s you absolutely value--the rest you can bring when you go for your first fitting.

Oh, and to add on to centerpieces being costly, I saw one bride on here who purchased glass vases in the city where the wedding was held, bought some bright green limes, and filled the vase with water and the limes for a simple but elegant centerpiece that was easy on the pocketbook! I thought they looked fabulous! Think outside the box. It helps make your wedding unique as well as saves you some $$.

And if you're not sure about things, google it! Or search for threads here on BDW! Chances are if you have a question about something, other brides have already asked it as well, or they're willing to answer your questions if you ask.

    Congratulations and good luck!!

Expect the unexpected- that friend you've know since kindergarten may not clear her schedule to go dress shopping or your great uncle bert that you haven't seen in 20 years may be the first to book.

Try to take pics of yourself in dresses you are considering, it helps later when you are no longer "in the moment" you may see things differently.

This is a great idea for a thread.. I enjoyed reading everyone's advice.. the best lesson I've learned is my wedding will be complete will be complete without everything I see and think I need to have... I'm learning thanks to FH that I only need what's really important to me and I'll regret not having in 20 years or so

This is SO true! We have so many people coming with us that we never in a million years expected to come! Nothing will surprise me anymore about this whole planning process! Great tips from all! Thanks!

Honestly, this is the best advice ever! A destination wedding can be hard because some of your favorite people just simply can't afford to go. Sometimes you hear excuses about why people can't come that just make you cringe, but we just have to remember that it was our choice to have a destination wedding not them. So we can't expect them to set aside the money to go,  If it means that much to you for certain people to be there you can always bite the bullet and pay for them. Or just have an AHR where they can celebrate with you. Most of our family isn't coming but I'm ok with it because our closest family ( parents) and our best friends will be going and those are the people that matter the most.
