hey ladies, Its so nice to know that I'm not the only one have issues w/ TAs. It's nice to be able to vent and have someone understand where you are coming from. I just wish it didn't have to be under these circumstances :) Well nothing has change w/ my TA. I'm just giving up on her!!! It's a lost cause and worrying about it is ruining my wedding experience.

Im sorry, but what exactly can a TA do that any of us cant?  They are so rude, unorganized, & liars... we fired 3 before my fiance finally just took over and is handling all... and I mean ALL... of the arrangements.  After just a few days calling and researching the resort, he knew more & could find out more then any of our previous TA's.  TA's are such a waste of time and just another unnecessary stressor in the DW planning.

I am sorry that you ladies have had trouble with your TA's. Our policy at LUXE is to send out a weekly spreadsheet updating you as to who exactly has booked or inquired.

The travel aspect of planning a destination wedding can often be the most stressful part! I think it is important to remember that not all TA's are bad, obviously the BDW TA mentioned here is proof of that! My advice would be to just stay on top of them and voice your concerns and expectations so that you are on the same page!

well, not always.  I am a TA and I do not consider myself rude, unorganized OR a liar.  we do provide a service for our clients and most are quite happy with the service that we provide.  also, most TA's can price match or price beat.  I DOUBT your fiance knows more about travel and destination weddings than the travel agents here on BDW.

ps. just so you know, this forum is owned and paid for by a travel agency and I see it has been a big part of your planning so indirectly a travel agency has already helped you and your wedding.

maybe the problem isn't the fact that you are using a TA but that you are NOT using a BDW TA.

We finally got rid of our previous TA and switched everything to Patty. It was a challenge to get everything transferred to her, but it was completely worth it. She's awesome!!

Great to hear that...patty is a bdw agent! Not all agents are created equal. 95% of our business are large destination wedding groups so we are pretty prepared for groups.

Tammy,

I wish I knew this place existed before we picked our first TA.  I didn't know there were travel agents who specialized in large group DW.  The ones we saw were all local "Sandals specialists" who told us they couldn't even get us a discount at Sandals!  So why are we going through you?  Why are you telling us incorrect info if you're a "specialist?"  Why are you making incorrect bookings?

Anyway, just had to vent!

Thanks for creating this site!

I'm glad I found this site. I was originally going to go with DestinationWeddings.com but A) I don't want to front 50 bucks and B) after one conversation with Patty Jordan and a couple of emails I'm definately sticking with her. She's friendly, quick to respond very informative and super patient as I had a ton of questions. I hope that my guests are smart enough to take my advice and go with her too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
