Moon Palace 2012 Brides

The dinner reservation is there for people that will have 35 and under and do not wish to purchase a private function ( and who do not have unlimited free events).  If you have unlimited free events, NO you will not have to pay for those extra people.  That reservation is solely to be used at a restaurant.  It's included with all wedding packages.  Just think of it this way, if you have unlimited free events, they are free except to extend the hours, decorations, music, etc...You will not have to pay pp.  Just for the extras.  Hope that makes sense!?!?!

So for my reception I will have prob 40-50 people. I know that I saw somewhere that you get a function for 35 people.

My question. Will I have to pay for meals for the 5-15 extra people? Is there a limit on how many people you can have at your private function for free.

I am aware that extra tables to accommodate seating may cost money but what about the meals?

Any info is kindly appreciated.

Thanks Jamie!

What a relief. I factored in like $1000 to cover meals for people above and beyond 35. Hooray, now I can have table decor.

Ohh another question I thought of that maybe you know the answer too.

If I decide not to have the 1 hour cocktail hour will they let me extend my reception 1 hour without charging me for it?

I know when I go to destination weddings, after the ceremony I want to go back to the room and get ready for the reception and I generally opt of cocktails anyway. I have noticed that most guests at the destination weddings I have been too do that as well. I am also thinking that I remember reading that we get champagne after the ceremony anyways so this should be sufficient enough I would think.

I will be skipping a cocktail hour. They only allow outdoor functions until 10 or 10:30 and my ceremony is at 6pm. Im hoping to have a reacption from 6:30-10:30 without paying the extra hour???  I read someplace that the unlimited events are for up to 3 hours per day, but it may be possible to negociate? I dont want my guests traveling from place to place, and I would rather a longer reception :)

I don't think this will be an issue because I think my TA spoke to the wedding department and told them I want my reception from 6-10 and they seemed okay with it.

Is anyone planning on doing indoor ballroom reception?

I was looking at photos and I don't really love how out in the open the outdoor venues are. I just keep thinking about giving a heart felt speech and randoms walking by in speedos listening as I tear up talking about my parents...lol.

As part of any wedding package you choose, you have the option of a dinner reservation for up to 30 or 35 people in a restaurant.  If you think you will only have 12 people there, then you can absolutely use your reservation for that and you WC will be able to make that reservation for you.  We chose to have a private reception because we are not having an AHR.  We are only having 20 people, and if memory serves me correctly, you have to have a min. of 20 guests to book a private function.

Good luck!

Thanks, but what I meant was for EXTRA functions. Like a welcome dinner and going away brunch. Using the one dinner reservation for the reception, but then seeing if we can find a way to get everyone sat together in the restaurants for other special meals. Exactly the same as in north America when you make a reservation at 6pm for a party of 8, you know? It's not a private or semi-private function, you're just getting them to hold seating for you at a specific time. That's what I was wondering is possible. If you can tip someone to hold a table for you or something.

There is a review (the 2nd one) from a girl who got married at MP and had her reception in a ballroom. I believe they have 2 to choose from.

For other events, It may depend on how busy the resort is at the time your there? When Ive been away with a big group we would just go at the same time and try to get seated next to eachother? I think your on your own aside from your wedding day. 12-15 people seems like a reasonable number to get like 2 reservations of 6 or 7 and ask for tables next to eachother. I am assuming maybe some people would like to eat at different times throughout your stay so doing it every day or night may just be stressful, but Im sure your WC can help with that request for a welcome dinner or rehersal

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
