Moon Palace 2012 Brides

Perr1217 any US vendor/photog that you bring is okay because they are staying as your guest.  I had asked this same questions and still have the email when I was going to bring one of my sorority sisters along.  However; to work around the "no outside vendor" requirement for Mexico photogs it is stated that they have to be your guest for 1 night and some was able to use day passes.  I may end up securing a night to for-go any crap.  We are also going to get married upon return and in addition thought of having my best friend's sister perform our ceremony because she is a Pastor, however; I didn't want anyone thinking anything strange or asking questions so I decided against that.

1.        Can we still have the symbolic ceremony in Playacar, if we ARE NOT YET legally married in the US?  I am asking this because the 877-line stated that we would not be required to present a marriage certificate in order to have our symbolic ceremony, but that we would just not receive the honeymoon package.  I noticed in the marriage contract, a marriage cert is listed as required.  We were looking to do the legal paperwork here in the states upon our return rather than beforehand so that it would not take away from the symbolic ceremony in Mexico, which we would consider our wedding day.

2.       Can we have someone other than the minister perform our ceremony?  We have a friend who we would like to preside over our ceremony.  If this is something we can do, does he need to bring with him any paperwork?  If so, what?

3.        It also states on the wedding contract that NO outside vendors such as photographers are allowed.  It was my understanding that if they were a guest of the resort (mine would be a guest for at least 3+ nights) that they would be allowed.  Could you please clarify this for me?

The 877-line had answered questions #1 and #2 as yes - we could get married afterward, and we could have anyone we wanted to preside over the ceremony, and they wouldn't need any type of paperwork.  I didn't even as about #3, because I thought as long as they were a guest, it wouldn't matter - in this case, it's my best friend, so she would be there the duartion of my stay too probably.  My fiancé and I will be getting legally married here in the US and having the symbolic ceremony at Playcar Palace – something that our guests will not know about.  As far as they are concerned, the wedding in Mexico will be a legal ceremony.

Thanks ladies, and CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay so Lauren did get back to me, I'll assume the answers would probably be the same for MP too!

1.       That is not a problem. You will still be able to have a symbolic wedding. Guests will not know whether this is legally binding or not.  As previously mentioned, you will not qualify for the honeymoon package.

2.       Can we have someone other than the minister perform our ceremony?  We have a friend who we would like to preside over our ceremony.  If this is something we can do, does he need to bring with him any paperwork?  If so, what?

1.       Yes, as this is a symbolic wedding that can be done. Just let me know as soon as possible so I may cancel the minister.

Yes, as long as the photographer is staying at the resort there is no problem.

Thanks! yeah it has helped will speak to the 2010 brides! I agree i think it is personal taste aswell, some people who have given fab reviews on the resort have said not so great things about the beach. But i'll speak to them and see what they said about the beach. I know it probably doesn't matter, but just want everything to be just right! smile36.gif I'm sure it will be fab when everything is set arranged and we are there!

Thanks

This is one of those "up in the air, can't get a straight or same answer from MP" things.  Some were able to avoid over night stays, while it seems that others were not.  I will do my best, not to!

I am dealing with the same thing. We are going to use La Luna for our photography. I am hoping they will let us just do the day passes. Although I think Melissa at La Luna said once we get our contract number, to let her know, and I think SHE will deal with them.

If that didn't work, I'm tempted to not say anything and just buy day passes for my "guests" staying off site....yeah it might be a little devious, but c'mon they need to make up their minds and give everyone a straight answer. PLUS a nights stay is a little pricey...

I am getting so anxious! We are STILL waiting to hear back from the minister to see if he is available! Still NO contract signed and turned in...they told us the date is locked in but I won't feel more at ease until we send in that contract! I'm hoping we hear from them by the end of the week.

Ladies,

The Website is updated!!!

So question, I was told my travel agent that in order to reserve the wedding date you want for the Moon Palace that you have to put down a $200.00 deposit (even if doing complimentary wedding) and you have to put down $150.00 per person.  I am just really checking to see if the way I am going is the best way to do this or if I should be trying to go about planning this a different way.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am thinking of doing the same thing - they can't really make us pay for a one night stay if they don't know they are coming? Good idea.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
