Tlseege thanks for posting the pic so we can view it. It is awful, and I am still trying to figure out what all those rocks are. Because it looks like even after the new gazebo is complete we will still have that in the view. I just can't understand why they are changing so much. People love the view and location from the gazebo so why in the world are they changing it? I will try to stay positive and hope for the best when we arrive next week.

I also posted another post under the other Dreams thread stating that nobody should really worry about their guests getting moved, if they used a travel agent. Because it was a computer glitch they had at Dreams in April. And it shouldn't happen any more. PM me if you have any questions. Thanks and good luck to all the upcoming brides!

It looks like a man made causeway. I wouldn't worry about it. That kind of stuff they obviously have to do to secure the land etc... Keep in mind the pic was taken from above. You may see those rocks, but I doubt they'll end up in your wedding pics. I feel for you guys. On one hand, the resort needs to do renos, there is always going to be a wedding affected, but... they should have disclosed this to everyone.

Those rocks, meaning the new beach, was mandated by the government as part of the post hurricane construction, this was the last piece of beach to be renovated.

As far as the other renovations, Cecilia told me in a phone call that the palapas on the terrace were going to be removed and the terrace "renovated," but not changed in construction or design, so probably just cleaned and painted? I think without the palapas is better as now there is a ton more room there, but I hope they are still providing some sort of shading.

The lighthouse was repainted, which now looks fantastic, and the gazebo...I agree it was dated and probably the wood rotting (ie...not safe) but I loved it, hopefully they don't do anything to abstract or modern (like DRC...looks Polynesian not Mexican!) We'll see, I'm crossing my fingers.

Sorry for the brides that had to go through this, so unprofessional of the hotel, I think we can all agree on that. It takes a lot of courage and effort to come to a board and share your story, ESPECIALLY if you were not a previous BDW poster, so thank you and sorry that on top of everything you already had to deal with, you now had to deal with criticism here for doing a good deed!

Hi ladies, I just received an email from the Manager at Dreams Cancun. The gazebo is still under construction but they are holding weddings there. The first pic must be an illustration of what it is supposed to look like once it is finished. But the roof is not on yet. They are still holding weddings there and he included an actual photo of a wedding that took place there yesterday.

UGGHH!!! I can't get the photos to upload as attachments!! It says they are invalid files when I upload them! And I don't know why, because they are jpeg files. PLEASE HELP! I know everybody will want to see these!! sad.gif

Why are they remodeling pretty things like the gazebo (and they are tearing down the terrace too I was told by my WC). Why can't they remodel ugly things...like the pool and lagoon! lol...or remodel the ugly rooms...who is their decorator anyway...
OMG, they are tearing down the terrace?? that's where I'm holding my reception. I didn't hear anything about it from my WC! Why are you taking pretty things and make them ugly?!

Hey Fellow Brides and Brides to Be,

In response to the original post by JBenson, I am so sorry to hear about your experience.

I recently got married at Dreams Cancun on April 20th, 2010 and it was the best experience of our lives. We are so happy that we decided to have a destination wedding and that we chose Dreams Cancun.

Yes, the Gazebo was under construction when we arrived and we did voice our concerns to Claudia. She said that we will be able to get married there and we did! Even the morning of the wedding, the workers were working on it (We had a view of the gazebo from our room) but thankfully I didn't stress out and had faith.

The top was not finished and wasn't going to be and we knew that. Claudia had the top (the finished part) wrapped in white and it looked gorgeous. You would never be able to tell that it was under construction. It was beautiful and dream like. We loved it and thought it was even better than having the top on. It looked great, all our guests were impressed and we absolutely have no complaints about the Gazebo or Claudia. She will pull everything together and make your day perfect.

For those brides to be at Dreams Cancun, enjoy the experience. The best advise I got before the wedding was that as long as you are there and the groom is there, then it's already perfect. Don't let the little things stress you, it's really not worth it. Enjoy your day!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
