Anyone NOT Taking FI Name?

Recommended Posts

I'm taking his last name, although I might make my maiden name my middle name. I like the idea of when we have kids the whole family having the same last name. (I also don't find it a problem, or weird for people to keep their own last name.)

I don't know how I missed this thread before. I had a panic attack after we got engaged over changing my name. I realized how attached I am. I mean it's me it's who I am and I feel like changing it is taking away part of my identity!

We have a piece of mail for our home insurance that for some reason comes with his name and then mine hyphenated and I decided I could handle that a little more.

lol! This will be my first marriage and still no name change. He has no problem with it, but I am sure one of his sister's will.

I think I'm going to take his name. My mom doesn't want me to as she didn't and in mainland China (where I'm from), it's not common to. However, like Leez309, I like the idea of the whole family having the same last name.

I wanted to hyphenate but to be honest, I'm too lazy for that! It would be so long. I think I will instead make my maiden name my middle name. That I'll still have it there, but I can condense into just one initial. I'm not as familiar with western traditions but that's the way it was originally done, right?

I plan to take my FI's name. I have three brothers so my family name should live on (none of them have kids yet though). I too like the idea of an entire family sharing the same last name. But I don't like that it's assumed a woman will just change her last name once she marries! Not fair.

Do not feel bad because I am going to have to deal SI that is not going to like the fact that I am not changing my name. She will have plenty to say to him, but she will not say anything to me.

    • I love etsy!! It's a great place to find personalized gifts without such a hefty price tag. I was thinking of getting my bridesmaids personalized necklaces with their names on them. I found these ones that are affordable and you can pick the chain length and different fonts, so you can really make them your own and pick what you know each bridesmaid will want. https://www.etsy.com/listing/595334072/personalized-name-necklace-stainless?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=personalized necklace&ref=sc_gallery-3-9&plkey=a8662525c53ec285c1b46b0f308162d0591edff8:595334072
    • Hi everyone, I am so happy that I am getting married to the love of my life. He proposed me and we are getting married within in a couple of months. And I have started preparations for my big day. I am super excited about a lot of things and also worried about many things.I have some inhibitions about my face and skin. Since I am a working woman, I have never got much time for personal care. This is the right time for it now. I need  proper medical grade skin care. Want to improve my skin tone and texture  I read some details about it here, https://www.mcleanclinic.com/nonsurgical-procedures/non-surgical/skin-care/, and found it really helpful. Can anyone of you suggest me some more tips? Like what I can do at home to have a glow on my face?  Thanks in advance.
